Disappointed

KALILA'S POV

I had nothing else to do for the rest of the day, and Ares seemed to notice my idleness. Thirty minutes after he dismissed Jeremy and me from his office, Ares walked in and suggested I take the rest of the day off.

"You can go home, Dahlia. There’s nothing for you to do here today," Ares said.

Feeling cocky, I decided to ask him a question. "Why are you suddenly letting me go home early today after putting so much strain on me yesterday? I nearly worked myself to death."

His lips twitched, and for a second, I thought he would smile, but he didn't; instead, he replied, "You look terrible. It's no way for you to look like a Luna. Remember, you don't only have to play the part of a Luna, you also have to look the part, and I care about that."

I could hardly believe my ears that he was listing the quality of how to be a proper Luna to me, whereas most times, it seemed as though he hated the sight of me. Nevertheless, I smiled inwardly as he continued.
