A date

KALILA’S POV

The sun's rays penetrated through the windows, falling on my eyelids, and I woke up with my palm covering my tired eyes, muttering curses at the sun.

As I opened my eyes, the first sight I caught was Ares seated at the mahogany desk at the corner of the room, staring at some papers with a frown on his intense face. The cloud of smoke from the cigarette stuck between his lips highlighted his sea-green eyes, making him look like a dangerous man. Maybe he was, and I didn't know that yet. Flashes from the previous night swam in my head, and I was once again the disappointed girl who had been full of hope.

As I stretched out my legs and swung them off the bed, he looked up, still with a frown on his face, and glanced at me standing beside the bed. Then his eyes returned to the documents on the desk. What a man! I thought.

I braced myself, knowing that he owed me an explanation for his absence last night, and I was going to get reasons out of him without turning it into an argu
