Chapter 211

Kane's POV

We keep talking in circles, trying to find a solution to the problems we’re facing. After two hours, I call it quits. There's no quick fix, none that I can see right now anyway. “We’re getting nowhere. Let’s put it aside for a few days.”

“No, but--”

“Yes. Sometimes, when you stop focusing on a problem so much, a solution presents itself.”

I get up and take our dishes to the kitchen. I hear Adare’s cries while I scrape food into the compost bin, but he stops crying a few seconds later, and Willow’s soft voice floats toward me.

Humming softly to myself, I putter around the kichen, doing nothing much really, apart from keeping my hands busy. “Kane!” Willow squeals so suddenly that I drop the glass I was about to rinse. It shatters in the sink, along with my nerves.

Now what? Cussing inwardly, I run to the bedroom. “What is it?”

She’s standing by the window, slowly rocking from side to side while she nurses Adare. “Look.”
