96: Breaking down walls

Killian’s POV

I sat across from Jake, the two of us in a secluded corner of the palace. The room was dimly lit, the heavy drapes keeping out most of the sunlight. I could feel the weight of the conversation we were about to have, but I kept my expression neutral.

"What should we do with Elaine now that she’s in our custody?" Jake asked, his tone serious.

I leaned back in my chair, steepling my fingers as if deep in thought. I needed to tread carefully here.

My true intentions for Elaine had nothing to do with justice and everything to do with my dark desires. But no one, not even my closest friends, could know that.

"We need to keep her under close watch," I said slowly, choosing my words with precision. "She’s a key suspect in the murders, and we can't afford to let her slip through our fingers. We need to extract as much information from her as possible."
