63: Just a girl

Elaine’s POV

Riley and I continued eating, the tension in the cafeteria gradually subsided, but I could still feel the occasional glances being cast our way. The encounter with Leah had left a lingering sense of unease.

Just as I was about to take another bite, I noticed Orlo making his way over to our table. He had a contrite expression on his face, and his eyes darted nervously around the room.

"Hey, can I join you guys again?" Orlo asked, his voice hesitant.

Riley and I exchanged a quick glance before nodding. "Sure, Orlo. Have a seat," I said, curious about what he had to say.

Orlo slid into the seat across from us, his posture tense. "I wanted to apologize for what Leah and the twins did," he began, looking genuinely remorseful. "I had no idea they were going to confront you like that. It's not right, and I'm sorry you had to deal with it."
