Chapter 1 The new King

Elena's P O V

I stretched my hands and legs before opening my eyes to wake up from my sleep.  It's really hard to wake up in the early morning, but still, my lips curled up to a smile. I opened my eyes to the white ceiling. 

There are only 2 days to my birthday and I will know my Mate! I use to hear all the things about the mate and the bond and I wanted to have the same feelings, I always looked towards to meet my mate, and now, the time has finally arrived!

I sat up on the bed when I saw Nicole, my best friend, who is staring at me with a death glare. That's when I got to know we had plans and I am so late!. I gave her a huge smile to calm her down but she kept glaring at me and whispered in anger "did you forget what day is today? we have planned to go on a trip but you are late, all our friends are waiting for us down there but you are still sleeping like a pig!"

I got up from the bed and ran to my bathroom while shouting "just 20 mins, I will be down there, don't be angry at me, babe!". "you better be!" she shouted back, getting up from the sofa and walking out.

I did all the work in 20 mins, I ran downstairs to pack up everything but that's when I saw everyone was busy discussing something in seriousness, so I walked towards them in confusion and asked "what happened Nicole? what are you guys talking about?".

"We can't go out today because our Alpha king is killed by the new King yesterday night! and the rumors say that the new king is none other than the old king's son, who disappeared at a young age with the Queen but we don't know what is going on! Things are not yet settled so no one is allowed to go out of thier pack and I think our trip is canceled" she said with a sigh. 

But I was in shock, without understanding, how did everything happen in such a short period of time. That's when I saw my dad, who just got downstairs with my elder brother George, I ran to them and asked in confusion "dad, brother, what is happening?".

"Elena dear, just stay at home and be safe," my dad said in worry but he has a comforting smile on his lips. I can tell he is worried but why? is it because the Alpha king is dead and replaced? The more I look at them, the more I get confused so I asked dad again "Dad, is something going to happen? why are you so tensed like this?".

He took a sigh and then smiled. staring at my eyes with his hazel ones and told "my little princess, don't worry about me, I am good and everything is fine, I am just sad because my friend, the old king is dead ".

"but..." before I could tell anything, he place his finger on my lips and said to me with a small smile "don't worry, I can take care of everything, just trust your dad".

I just nodded my head with a small smile, staring into his eyes, because I trust my dad, he can do anything for the pack and our family. when my stupid big brother rubbed my head, destroying my perfect hairstyle, telling "you little baby, stay at home and don't do any naughty things, your big strong brother and your dad will be back soon".

I kicked his butt when he walked across me and shout at him "stupid" and ran inside without any fear. I know he can't come after me now, as he is going out with dad to do some business.

I turned to my friends with a smiled and asked "then what are we going to do today?".

"Nothing, we are going back home now," everyone said at the same time with a smile on thier face, staring at me. I got suspicious of thier huge smile and telling something at the same time as if they already planned something, so I walks toward them and asked "tell me the truth? what are you guys planning?", everyone looked at each other again making me even more suspicious, and something crossed my mind, "are they going out together leaving me alone?! and if they do, then I will kill them!".

Jessica stepped forwards and said with a sigh "We have some work to do now!" I looked at her in confusion and was above to ask "what" but she told, "it is your birthday gift! we want that to be a surprise so we don't want you to know, what is that! just be here and don't follow us!". This time, my lips curled into a huge smile as I got curious thinking about the gifts. when Roman walked towards me and warns me in his cold voice "stop thinking about whatever going inside your head, you know about me, I will destroy the gift of yours if ever come there and saw it even once, understood?".

my eyes widen in shock, while staring at his deep blue eyes and told in shock "wh... what are you talking about? that is so cruel!".

"so don't try any tricks, you will know it anyway right?"Asher said looking at me with a warm smile. He is always the best and knows how to make me accept him, not like that stupid Roman, who always loves to threaten me. I just stood there and nodded my head in irritation.

Nichole, Asher, Roman, and Jessica left me there alone. Then I saw my mother, who is walking inside the library and I followed her as she is the only one, who can understand everything. Other than her, everyone think that I am a small child and needed to be protected.

I sat on the bed with a huge smile on my face, as my wait is over. I am turning 18 tomorrow and going to find my mate! I just hope that he is going to love me just like my dad loves my mom. Even though I am happy and looking forward to my 18th birthday, I am just worried about everything that has been happening in the pack. I don't know why but my dad and brother are so busy getting all the soldiers outside the pack to protect the pack. no matter how hard I tried, they are not going to tell me anything. 

The knock on my door, distracted me from the thoughts, as I turned to look at the person, and asked "who is that?". "it's me, dear and can I come in?" My mom said with a beautiful smile on her face while opening the door. I smiled and nodded my head and she walks inside.

"How are you feeling now, princess? excited for tomorrow?" She said with a small smile and sat on my bed. I smiled and nodded my head "yes, mom" she just knows everything about me. 

"If you find your mate then, will you come to check on us?" she asked, staring at me with a hint of sadness, and I know that she is worried that I won't be around her just like before. I took a long sigh and moved toward my mom as I sat, next to her on the bed and hugged my mom, who is hugging me back.
