69: The past is in the past

Outside my home and it wasn't my own damned imagination. I was frozen in that spot for a while, just gawking blankly at him, unable to snap into reality that he was actually there— just a few steps away from me.

I squinted and turned fully to him. He looked like the ghost of his past self. Lean and gaunt like he'd been experiencing hell wherever he was but that wasn't my business right now.

My business was— why was he here?! What was he doing here? He walked closer, his steps hesitant as he approached me with quivering lips as though he was having a hard time choosing what to say, just as I was having a hard time processing whatever the hell was happening right now!

My chest was filled with disgust and I furrowed my brows. “What are you doing here?” I spat, my voice louder and harsher than I intended it to be.
