Jessica wanted to take a warm shower but resorted to a cold shower to wake herself up from the dreams she was having.

Was she just fawning over the body of Xavier? She thought she would never get over Burke. As she thought about Burke her chest tighten. Her mind was flooded with fond memories between her and her high school sweetheart.

Her mind traveled to the day of the wedding which was barely two weeks ago. How he dumped her right before they could tie themselves in holy matrimony.

She remembers how she waited for hours at the front of the courthouse before she called Burke to confirm where he was. He then proceeded to call off the wedding and even the relationship.

She told herself that she would have understood if he developed cold feet but what he did made no sense to her. He admitted his infidelity to her and showed no remorse.

"Jessica, are you almost done? I would be late for work" Xavier's voice pulled Jessica out of her train of thought.

Angel helped Jessica to set the table. Jessica entered the living room where she had fallen asleep the other day to meet Xavier a man who looked around the same age as him. "Hello, Mrs. Delgado, I am Marcus Gates and the family lawyer," the strange man said as his gaze landed on the woman. "Hello Mr. Marcus," Jessica said taking the hand of the man. Marcus scanned Jessica. She was in casual wear and had no makeup on. She was different from all the young ladies of the city. Most young ladies who married into big families were almost extravagant and dressed too exquisitely even when they had to stay at home all day. Despite the simplicity of Jessica's dress and makeup, she surpassed most of the Chiachester City ladies in beauty. The best part about Marcus was that she wore a smile since she got there. Marcus was enchanted immediately. He knew that his parents would fight tooth and nail if he ever decided to marry someone like Jessica but he wished that he found her before Xavier di

Marcus wanted to say a whole lot of things but kept them to himself. His new prayer would be that Xavier would need things up for Jessica so he could have her and he would hope that he would need to meet Jessica again soon. They finished the rest of the meal in silence. Both men moved to the living room while Jessica helped Angel to clear the table. She brought a cup of coffee each for them so they can sign the contract. Marcus and Xavier took the time to talk about some of the legal problems with the company and how to resolve them. Jessica joined them shortly. Marcus gave Jessica a copy of the contract and another one to Xavier. Jessica only went direct to where she needed to append her signature and she asked for a pen. "Can I have a pen?" she asked and both men looked at her. "Are you not going to read it?" Xavier asked surprised. "Oh I know you are going to be fair enough and to be honest I just happened to be in this situation do any terms you put in there could not be bad

"Good morning chairman," Roselle said pushing the door of the hospital room. The day before Dawson had called her to tell her to be there before Jessica came in. Dawson's plan was simply to get Roselle to play a matchmaker. He was very worried about what would become of Xavier once he left Earth. The doctor's job every day was a simple reminder about how he was going to die soon and should probably live every day to the fullest. Dawson was sure that if he went today to be at peace with his ancestors Xavier might easily divorce Jessica and live alone for the rest of his life. Dawson knew that it was only over his dead body that the Delgado line would end would Xavier. Hence he had to call someone he knew would do a good job. Unknown to Dawson his grandson and granddaughter-in-law just signed a contract binding them for a year before the amicable divorce. "I never thought I would get to see your face before I die," Dawson said in a tone that denoted a bit of dark humor. "Why are yo

"Matchmaker? Do you finally want to get married?" Roselle asked. She felt a sting of disappointment. She thought that Dawson would stay single till he died as she did. She kind of understood that he was lonely in the hospital just laying around all day and any other woman out there would be thrilled to marry into the Delgado family even if it meant marrying the old man. They would snag a few billion and live a lavish lifestyle. They would get to be called Lady Delgado and live in an exquisite mansion when he dies. "I don't think Xavier would be okay with the idea," Roselle said voicing her concern and masking them as Xavier's. "Why would I want to get married again? I had a beautiful first marriage and the person I would have loved to marry for the second time decided that I was not worthy enough" Dawson said giving her a knowing smile. "Ohh" she commented feeling her cheeks getting hot. She was relieved that he was not getting married. She was not planning to accept his proposa

Roselle stayed for a few minutes and chatted with Dawson before she decided to leave. She left for the market and a few minutes later Jessica came in with all smiles. Dawson was not going to be bored today at least. As they got talking Jessica suddenly asked a question. "Do you want to come home for a while?" She asked him. He was confused. Ever since he was diagnosed he had been living on this hospital bed. Jessica on the other hand was worried he might be bored from not seeing others. She believes if he was home he would feel better seeing others around. "Come home?" he asked. He liked that she called it home but he did not know if it was the right choice to go home. If he was going to die soon why did he have to be a nuisance before his death? "I think I'll very much like waking up to see you every morning and bidding you good night every day," Jessica said. She was being honest with him. To she grew up in an orphanage. A full house is the best kind. "You don't think I'll b

Jessica had the food to her fill and then she left to the house. She entered the house and went straight upstairs since she already had a hearty dinner. As she pushed the door open she met Xavier sitting on the bed in casual wear. Her eyes went to the wristwatch on her wrist. It was barely past seven pm but Xavier was around. "You are home early?" she asked entering the room and closing the door behind her. She dropped her bag on the table and went over to the can't table removing her earrings and putting them into her jewelry box. "Yes, I thought we could have dinner together like you suggested," Xavier said looking everywhere in the room apart from her. Jessica stared at Xavier through the mirror in her front. She could sense his discomfort when he said that. He took all the courage to ask her to dinner. If she said no or turned him down he might take it the wrong way. She would just have to suck it up and have two dinners. She could not possibly die from overeating. Or could s

Jessica got cooking and cooked something minimal. Since she did not have the time and she was slightly exhausted she only cooked spicy pasta with cream sauce. When Xavier say down to eat at the table he was somewhat disappointed with the light spread as compared to the morning. He did not take it to heart since she had short notice and she was also exhausted from the day's activity. He thought it thoughtful of her to prepare a meal for him regardless. He had always had an extremely hard time eating meals. He skipped breakfast because it reminded him of his mom. His lunch time was usually occupied with lunch meetings which he would barely touch not to talk of eating. He usually had salad or any other light thing for dinner which was usually not enough. He was working so hard yet getting little meals. Something about Jessica's meals made him at peace when he ate them. He liked them but he was not going to admit it to her face. "Would I be seeing you for dinner tomorrow Mr. Delgado?"

They had arrived back from their honeymoon over the weekend and this Monday morning was the first time Joshua was going back to work after the wedding."Can't I just lay down here with you all day?" he said taking out her hand and pulling her down to his level."You kept saying that and prolonged the honeymoon by two weeks,""Call me a criminal for wanting to spend time with my wife, I am getting the feeling that you do not want to spend any time with me" Joshua said opening one eye and giving her a judging look. "Joshua, you know that is not true, so get up now""You are no longer my assistant, you are supposed to be begging me to stay a bit more with you""What makes you think I don't want to do that?" The entire wedding was over already and the whole family was seeing the couple off as they were going directly to the airport for their honeymoon. "Come on, at this rate they might miss their flight" Leon said trying to pull Eunice off her daughter. She had been bawling the entire ceremony, if someone saw her they would think it was a sad occasion. "My daughter," Eunice said as she finally pulled away and took a step back. "I am so happy and so proud of you because you managed or find love for yourself even after everything" Eunice sniffled and smiled. "Thank you, Mom," Aletta said with a smile. "I was always unsure about how I felt about you, You were always around me, taking care of me and I felt anxious whenever you were out of sight. A little secret that was the reason I always made you work overtime even when it was not necessary" Joshua said and there was a burst of small laughter across the room. They were both standing in from of the priest and altar but they had decided to take their custom written vows there. Joshua cleared his throat and looked up from his paper to stare at Aletta whose eyes never left his face. He flashed a small warm mile to her and she returned it."I never realized my feelings for you until you made that drunken confession that night that caused us to go into a relationship. "Thank you so much for the suggestion, I am nervous about this and not rethinking my decision. I can't wait to be married to him" Aletta said as her eyes shot open. "Ew" Jeanne said as she gaged. "Did you hear about Anette?" Aletta asked as she pushed the jar of pickles into the hands of Joshua. They had picked a date for the wedding and it was in three weeks. They were having one of the date nights where they stayed back home and cooked for each other. "What happened to her?" Joshua asked. Anette shook her head in bewilderment, how could this man be so oblivious to everything happening around him?"Have you seen her in a while?" Aletta asked. She wanted to know how much he did not know. "Well, since that day she came to our house, I did not think much of it when I did not see her again," Joshua said truthfully before taking off the lid of the jar. "But you know she called off her wedding and left the country so abruptly with Richard?" Aletta asked hoping that he at least knew about that fact. Yes, Anette did hurt them all but it would be too mean to not care about her when she had sincerely apologized."Maybe they did not want the wedding again?" Joshua asked shrugging. Al
