"Matchmaker? Do you finally want to get married?" Roselle asked. She felt a sting of disappointment. She thought that Dawson would stay single till he died as she did. She kind of understood that he was lonely in the hospital just laying around all day and any other woman out there would be thrilled to marry into the Delgado family even if it meant marrying the old man. They would snag a few billion and live a lavish lifestyle. They would get to be called Lady Delgado and live in an exquisite mansion when he dies. "I don't think Xavier would be okay with the idea," Roselle said voicing her concern and masking them as Xavier's. "Why would I want to get married again? I had a beautiful first marriage and the person I would have loved to marry for the second time decided that I was not worthy enough" Dawson said giving her a knowing smile. "Ohh" she commented feeling her cheeks getting hot. She was relieved that he was not getting married. She was not planning to accept his proposa
Roselle stayed for a few minutes and chatted with Dawson before she decided to leave. She left for the market and a few minutes later Jessica came in with all smiles. Dawson was not going to be bored today at least. As they got talking Jessica suddenly asked a question. "Do you want to come home for a while?" She asked him. He was confused. Ever since he was diagnosed he had been living on this hospital bed. Jessica on the other hand was worried he might be bored from not seeing others. She believes if he was home he would feel better seeing others around. "Come home?" he asked. He liked that she called it home but he did not know if it was the right choice to go home. If he was going to die soon why did he have to be a nuisance before his death? "I think I'll very much like waking up to see you every morning and bidding you good night every day," Jessica said. She was being honest with him. To she grew up in an orphanage. A full house is the best kind. "You don't think I'll b

Jessica had the food to her fill and then she left to the house. She entered the house and went straight upstairs since she already had a hearty dinner. As she pushed the door open she met Xavier sitting on the bed in casual wear. Her eyes went to the wristwatch on her wrist. It was barely past seven pm but Xavier was around. "You are home early?" she asked entering the room and closing the door behind her. She dropped her bag on the table and went over to the can't table removing her earrings and putting them into her jewelry box. "Yes, I thought we could have dinner together like you suggested," Xavier said looking everywhere in the room apart from her. Jessica stared at Xavier through the mirror in her front. She could sense his discomfort when he said that. He took all the courage to ask her to dinner. If she said no or turned him down he might take it the wrong way. She would just have to suck it up and have two dinners. She could not possibly die from overeating. Or could s
Jessica got cooking and cooked something minimal. Since she did not have the time and she was slightly exhausted she only cooked spicy pasta with cream sauce. When Xavier say down to eat at the table he was somewhat disappointed with the light spread as compared to the morning. He did not take it to heart since she had short notice and she was also exhausted from the day's activity. He thought it thoughtful of her to prepare a meal for him regardless. He had always had an extremely hard time eating meals. He skipped breakfast because it reminded him of his mom. His lunch time was usually occupied with lunch meetings which he would barely touch not to talk of eating. He usually had salad or any other light thing for dinner which was usually not enough. He was working so hard yet getting little meals. Something about Jessica's meals made him at peace when he ate them. He liked them but he was not going to admit it to her face. "Would I be seeing you for dinner tomorrow Mr. Delgado?"
"Stop what?" Jessica asked her eyebrow going up. He saw the expression on her face. As much as he wanted to be on a first name basis with her he was feeling kind of intimidated. It was a strange feeling for him and he did not know what to do with the feeling. "That thing you do," Xavier asked. Jessica was truly confused by his words. He had not made any sense. He told her to stop but omitted the important part of what she should stop doing. After she visited Dawson's hospital room today when concluded that if his grandfather was looking out for him so much there was no reason for her to frustrate him. She was not going to play the role of a dotting wife and neither was she going to throw herself at him hoping for a change in life. She was simply going to live in peace with him. What she truly understood by living in peace was being considerate of each other's emotions. She was not thinking about big emotions but just the tiny things like what exactly at this moment was making him
Before Jessica could fit herself properly into the rich cycle the first month was coming to an end. Eleven more months to go for her before she amicably divorces Xavier. The month had been uneventful. She visited Dawson at the hospital almost every day and he had asked her if she considered the honeymoon any time she brought up the matter of him coming home. Jessica has sometimes overheard Roselle pester Xavier into taking her on honeymoon. She assumed that both Roselle and Dawson were in on the plan. Xavier had evaded her successfully putting her off. When Jessica woke up that morning she felt a little funny. She knew what was coming up was her menstrual cycle. She has for a month forgotten how serious her cramps could get. She had landed in the hospital and even triggered a fever because of menstrual cramps before. Her eyes were open but she could not make it out of bed. She felt very weak as she felt her body losing blood. She forced herself up so she doesn't stain the bedspre
As Xavier let go of her hand for a moment she felt her leg give way as she felt weak and then fell to the ground with a long thud. Xavier who was worried looked at her on the floor not moving or saying anything. He put his finger next to her nose to feel if she was still breathing. Her breathing was slow but it was still there. She was still alive. Xavier helped her back up and did not let go of her hand until he was able to put her back on the bed. "Jessica what's wrong?" he asked worried. He had never had the chance to experience something as such. His hand grazes over her bare skin as he tried to drop her to the bed. He felt her fever coming up. She was burning hotter than freshly brewed coffee. Jessica mumbled incoherent words to him. She did not know how to explain to him that it was just her menstrual cycle that was acting up and causing her to hang to life by a thread. "Stay here, let me ask Roselle for help," Xavier said going out of the room. Jessica's eyes opened sligh
