Book Two: Branch Twenty Seven

"Where to sir?" she asked as she approached the gate of the estate.

"To the beach," he said without looking up from his phone. he was busy reading the morning news and checking the stock prices for the day.

"Sir?" she asked trying to look at him from the inner mirror. he had a serious expression on and his face was still down to his phone.

"Do we have a meeting I did not know about?" she asked herself in a mutter but he was able to hear her.

"I never told you that we were going to work today, you just assumed," he said as he raised his head and his eyes met hers in the mirror. she looked away uncomfortably as her eyes shuffled the entire length and depth of the car interior.

"What are we going to the beach for then?" she asked and a realization dawned on her. Was it possible that he was going to meet his girlfriend here? Was she to drive him to his date? She felt her blood boil and she did not know why. He asked her out and she said no so why was she so pissed that he had moved on?
