Elara Smith thought she had a perfect life with her husband who liked her and her baking and was least bothered by the fact that she couldn’t give him kids. However, her world came crashing down when she got to know that her husband was not only seeing his childhood sweetheart and an Ex, Vicky but also got her pregnant. That was when she took the tough decision of her life and decided to leave her husband without telling him that she was carrying his kids. Aiden Lockwood used to be the most eligible bachelor before his marriage to Elara. He was the most handsome and gorgeous hunk alive who ruled the business world by running Lockwood Industries across the globe. The moment Vicky returned to his life, he thought he now had everything. But oh, man. He was wrong. What would he do after learning that he was the father of triplets? Would he go after Elara and win her back? And the million-dollar question! Would she ever be able to forgive him and love him again?
View More“Divorce?” Elara placed her hand on her chest, “You want to divorce me? Why?” This was unexpected. They were having a late dinner when her husband blew the bomb.
Her husband Aiden Lockwood hesitated a moment and tapped the file placed on the table beside his plate, “These are the divorce papers. I have already signed them.”
What was Aiden saying? It seemed like a normal business file to her.
“Hold on, Aiden. You haven’t eaten your dinner properly,” Elara went into denial. She quickly went to the kitchen and came out holding a tart tray, “See? I baked some Caramel pecan tarts for you. With lots of caramel topping. Just the way you like it.”
She placed the tray before her handsome husband and looked at him with a proud grin. He scrunched his nose and looked up,
“Did you even hear what I just said, Elara? You need to have a look at these divorce papers.”
“Stop cracking such jokes, Aiden. This is not funny. Ok?” For some reason, Elara could feel her heart, drumming in her ears.
Not understanding, she opened the file and read the words.
DIVORCE DECREE
“Wait a minute!” she gave him a lopsided grin, “You seemed worried about something for the last few days. Is it something about business? These divorce papers don’t belong to me. Right, Aiden?”
She was married to him for the last three years. They didn’t share a romantic lovey-dovey relationship, but she thought he liked her.
“Aiden. I made you these tarts thinking…”
“Life is much more than these tarts, Elara!” Aiden snapped at her, “Can’t you listen? We are getting divorced. I asked my lawyer to prepare these papers. You need to sign them. I already did.”
What? He had already signed the divorce papers?
“But why?” her voice dropped to a low whisper, “What did I do wrong? I … I thought you liked my baking that’s why I used to …”
“Good, God, Elara!” Aiden rose to his feet in exasperation, “Can you stop talking about damn tarts and cupcakes?” She felt as if he wanted to strangle her neck.
“Then what is it?” she also stood up, “Is it about my ginger hair? Is it about my weight?” she looked down at her bulging tummy, “I can’t change my hair color. But I am trying to shed off these pounds, Aiden. That’s why I joined the gym. I haven’t taken any carbs for the past year.” She didn’t know why her eyes welled up with tears.
“Yeah. I know. You haven’t taken carbs, but you are gulping down these cupcakes, tarts, and French toast dipped in heavy syrup.” She went silent after that.
She used to bake those cakes for him, but she had already stopped eating baked goods for the last year. Still, her weight was not in her control anymore. For the last month, she had been gaining weight like crazy.
“Listen, Elara. I don’t want to play dirty. There was everything in this marriage except love. Just sign the papers like a good girl. Don’t worry. You will get a lavish settlement. As we don’t have kids, obviously there is no question of child support.” He put back the file and picked up his car keys, “I married you because Grandpa forced me to. I never loved you, Elara. You are free to leave my place and do whatever you like with your life.”
Elara could not take it anymore. He was coming late from the office for the last few days, but he never spent his nights outside.
“Where are you going?” she couldn’t stop herself.
He smirked and shook his head,
“None of your business.” With that, he turned on his heels and left.
As soon as he left, Elara broke into tears.
“What did he say? He never loved me? Oh, God. What did I do to deserve this? I gave him everything. I know I am bulky. But I tried. Good, God, I tried.” She was weeping.
“I think Mr. Lockwood is leaving her,” she heard the voice of a maid in the kitchen.
“Obviously. Who would stay married to a heavy girl like her? He deserves someone better.” This was another maid.
She was very well aware that her servants used to talk about her weight behind her back.
“No!” she wiped her face with determination, “I won't give up on our marriage. I won't give up on Aiden. He is my husband and I love him. Tomorrow morning, we will talk like adults, and everything will be sorted.” She went to her room and tossed the file on the bed.
Due to a severe headache, she swallowed painkillers and sat down on a couch. However, her eyes were on the same king-sized bed where she spent her nights in his arms.
She was not planning to sleep. She would wait for him and tell him how much he meant to her. Just then her phone beeped.
It was a text message from a number that was not saved in her contact list. She opened it and read the text.
‘Interested to know about the whereabouts of your husband, baby? Countryside Hotel. Room number 1313. Trigger warning: He will be with the love of his life. Ha-ha.’
Love of his life?
Aiden was involved in some woman? No!
“Daniel! Daniel! Please ask the driver to bring the car. I need to go somewhere.” She hurriedly changed into a long maxi. That had been the only dress she was wearing to hide her heavy body.
The moment the driver stopped the car near the hotel lobby, she opened the door in haste and almost jumped out.
‘This can’t be true. Whoever this person was, he was lying. Or was this person a ‘she’?”
Standing outside room 1313, she inhaled a sharp breath and raised her hand to knock on the door. However, her hand stilled midair when she heard giggling sounds coming from inside.
She twisted the handle and opened the door just enough to look inside.
A man and a woman were busy kissing each other. The man’s back was facing her. The woman placed her perfectly manicured hands on the man’s shoulders and turned him a little. Now she could see the side of their faces and then she gasped with shock.
Aiden?
“Please don’t go!” Her husband was pleading with the woman and was not letting her go, “Please. Come here.” His voice was muffled because he didn’t want to detach his mouth. His hands were all over the sleek body of the woman. They were half-nak*ed and Aidan’s black hair was tousled.
He couldn’t seem to stop himself from squeezing her bottom and front and could not seem to let her go. The woman giggled again, and her eyes looked straight and met Elara’s eyes.
Elara sucked in a sharp breath, her eyes widening with shock. She knew the woman.
Vicky Barone.
Her childhood best friend and Aiden’s Ex. When did she return? She left the country three years ago. Right after attending their marriage.
“Vicky!” she muttered under her breath. Her one hand was still placed on her mouth to muffle the cries that were trying to escape her mouth when she closed the door and turned away to leave. There was no reason to stay there.
(3 years later)The Dubai Airport was buzzing with travelers. Mommies and daddies were running after small kids, honeymoon couples were busy taking their selfies, and the suited men were ready to take their next flight after a small transit.“Daddy! Zoe is again poking her finger in my neck,” Seven-year-old Sebastian tried to dodge his sister with a playful grin who was now coming to ruffle his hair. Aiden looked over his shoulder and found the nannies walking behind him, holding the tiny hands of two-year-old triplet boys.It was a much-needed trip for his family. His beloved wife needed a break. While managing kids and home, she had been busy expanding her business by opening franchises throughout Kanderton. The last three years had been the best time of his life. He spent his childhood without his parents or any siblings and now he was the head of a big family. With six kids and Elara Lockwood by his side, his family was complete. “I hope you didn’t take a hasty decision when you
Elara wasn’t ready to detach her lips from Aiden’s mouth and he was an equal participant in the kiss. Genelia ushered the guests politely out of the conference room. She had a small smile when she closed the door behind her.“Mrs. Lockwood seems quite emotional,” one of the guests remarked. Genelia who was a bit worried that they might remark on the unprofessionalism of the boss nodded her head with a smile.“I am happy that you didn’t make it an issue.”“Why would we? Aiden Lockwood is lucky to have such a lovely wife by his side.” They talked good-naturedly about it and then headed to ‘Lemons and Tarts’ for some more gingerbread.***“Honey,” Aiden tried to speak between the kisses, she was showering on his mouth and face. Her lips had gotten pink during the constant kissing.“Cupcake!”“Shhh. Let me taste you some more, Aiden.” She said holding his face. Aiden closed his eyes and took a long sigh. He couldn’t wait to go home and make love to her.He could feel her hands all over hi
Unknown person’s pov:We were extremely poor. We were so poor that all I and my family could manage were the meals that mostly consisted of bread and water. We used to dip bread pieces in water because sometimes it used to be so stale and hard that we could not chew it without dipping it in water. We couldn’t even afford coffee and soups in the winter season. All we could do to avoid cold was hot water. Once there was nothing at home except a few slices of bread and I had to control my hunger to let my siblings feed on it. My stepfather ditched us when I was too small. Mom struggled a lot to keep our tummies filled. She used to work at a bar and could only manage to pay rent and once-a-day meal. We were five siblings. I was the eldest and the illegitimate one. According to my mom, my father was her first love. They were in love and wanted to marry young but then my father met an accident and could never know that I existed in my mom’s tummy. Then she met my stepfather who used to p
After four hours of transit at Dubai Airport, Vicky was now boarding the next plane to Germany. She took out her phone to switch it off when it pinged. An email from Aiden. She opened it and found a document.“What is it?” She clicked the document murmuring to herself and then gasped in excitement. It was the divorce decree. He had signed the divorce papers. Elara was again divorced. Yay!She couldn’t contain her happiness and dialed his number. His phone was not responding. He must be on the plane. She then dialed Meer’s number.“Hey. Can you connect me to Aiden?” she just wanted to check if Aiden was serious with her or playing some kind of sick joke.“Hey, Vicky. Where are you? What about the contracts you worked so hard for? You didn’t even bother to send an email for your sick leave.”She could detect the frustration in his voice.“Yeah. I am sorry, Meer. But my question is still unanswered. Where is Aiden?”“I don’t know, man. His family is also worried for him. He hasn’t come
Vicky was quickly packing her stuff including her cash, jewelry, some gemstones, and very few dresses. Aiden could always buy her new clothes as he had gotten a great taste. She needed to get out of here before Greyson’s men could reach her. Jack’s wife had gone crazy and had threatened her that she would never spare Vicky. Taking a last look around, Vicky sighed in tension. Though Aiden was with her she could not take a relieved sigh, until she landed on German soil.“I hope this is the last time I am escaping from a place,” she murmured with frustration and wheeled out her compact suitcase. She came out of the modern apartment building and stood out waiting for Aiden.“Honey. You should have waited for my call,” Aiden said placing her small luggage in the car trunk.“I just wanted to get out of here,” she said a little desperately. “I understand. Don’t worry. You are safe with me. It’s just that… we can’t take risks.” Aiden clasped the seat belt around him and inhaled a heavy brea
Vicky Barone’s pov continues: Like a perfect gentleman, Aiden owned the baby. He promised to man up for taking up the responsibility of the baby. Being a well-raised guy, he left Elara so that she could build her future too. He was never expecting that she was pregnant and would attempt to run away. Neither was I. She proved to be more daring than my expectations. Collin Greyson was a powerful man, and he was looking for me like a hawk. I wanted to hide behind Aiden but the hunger for power and to take over his office was growing inside me. The revenge I wanted to take from Edmund was burning fire inside me… To get the contracts, I started using men to my advantage. First, it was Mr. Wendell, the fake one. Then the real one. And then Mr. Jack. All was going well until his wife walked in. I had to run for my life and sacrifice those contracts. Thankfully Aiden didn’t get mad at me. But I was sure he must be upset. Then one fine day Jack’s wife walked into my office and got
