Book Two: Branch Ninety Two

Joshua stood up and bent to the door. He locked the door and took the key. He put the key into his pocket and went to sit on the bed.

"What are you doing?" she asked in amusement turning to face him.

"You can only go out if you can take the key from me" he said waving his hand in the air.

"Do you think I can not?" she asked walking towards him.

"I am hoping you try," he said in a low voice followed by a wink.

"Why are you doing this?" she cried to him.

"Doing what?" he said trying his best to feign ignorance.

"I only came here so I can tell you about Jeanne, why won't you let me go to bed?" she asked in a desperate tone.

"You can go to bed here" he said tapping beside him on the bed.

"What do you mean by that?" she asked him and he smirked. "If I go to bed here then we will definitely be caught in the morning"

"Then can you at least pretend to care about me and pretend to miss me?" he asked as his face fell.

"What do you mean?" she was curious why he said something like that. Why d
