—MAGGIE ELIZABETH SMITH—

In three days, Liam and I will be heading back to our home in Manila. Everything has gone smoothly between us during our stay here so far. I'm happy here as long as Liam and I are together. I've suddenly felt his presence in my life as my husband.

When we were at home, we rarely saw each other, so I guess that's why I didn't feel like I had a husband. I even thought that maybe he was intentionally locking himself in his room to avoid me because he doesn't like me. But now? I don't know.

Things are happening too fast if he's going to suddenly like me, right? I love the idea, but I can't read his mind, so I have no idea what's going on.

Maybe I'll just take advantage of our time here in the mansion to get to know each other better. Yeah, that's exactly what I'll do!

"It's getting cold outside, grandchild. Why haven't you gone inside yet?" I looked back when I heard Lolo Enrico's voice. It's already mid-November and the wind has a chilly bite. Actually, I've been shivering for a while now, but I was too lazy to go up to my room to get a sweater.

Maybe if I go up, Liam will suddenly arrive. I want to greet him when he arrives. That's why I decided to wait here in the small gazebo in the garden, which is also close to the gate.

"I'm waiting for Liam, Grandpa," I said briefly and smiled at him. Liam had stepped out for a bit to attend to the company. There were some papers that needed his signature. The client wouldn't agree to settle it any later than today.

"Okay, here, take this scarf and wrap it around your body. You might get sick. The climate here is different from Manila's." He said while handing me the thick blanket he was holding.

"I'm okay, Grandpa. You need it more than I do. Thank you."

"Oh, this child! Don't worry about me, my body is used to the cold here. Just take it." In the end, I accepted what he was offering. As soon as I wrapped it around my body, I immediately felt warmer.

"Thank you."

"It's nothing, grandchild. By the way, I haven't visited your house in Manila yet. How's life there?" I gave him a faint smile because I didn't know what to say. I was torn between telling him the truth about our situation or not.

"We're good, Grandpa. What you see now is how we are at home." I lied. I suddenly remembered the agreement Liam and I had, and how he strictly instructed me not to let Grandpa Enrico find out about it.

"That's good, but I'm wondering why you don't have kids yet. You've been married for three years, and I should have a three-year-old grandchild by now." I wanted to say that we didn't even have a honeymoon after the wedding, but that would only raise more questions. "I might sound pushy, dear, but please don't feel pressured, okay child?"

"I understand, Grandpa," I simply said. He excused himself to go inside ahead of me. Somehow, I suddenly felt a pang of sympathy for Grandpa. He's old and probably longing for a little grandchild. Although Liam is also his grandchild, it's different when you have a little one with small hands hugging you.

Anyway, I don't know much about Liam's family. In fact, Grandpa Enrico is the only family member of Liam's that I know. I haven't even met his parents or siblings. Sounds weird, right? Well, it is! Grandpa never told me anything about Liam's family. I don't even know how many siblings he has or if he has any siblings at all!

I have no idea about their family tree at all!

After a couple of minutes, I heard the sound of Liam's car entering the wide gate. I came out of the gazebo and walked towards him. I greeted him with a sweet smile as he got out of the car. I thought he would ignore me, but he smiled back at me. My heart melted again!

"Come here." He even beckoned me to come closer, which surprised me.

"Wh—" I was about to ask why, but I didn't get to speak because he suddenly hugged me. I was taken aback by his action, but I still managed to hug him back.

"I've missed you..." He said, which further accelerated the beating of my heart. I wonder if Liam feels this too, given the tightness of his hug.

Is this even real? Maybe I'm just dreaming? Because if this is just a dream, please don't wake me up!
