Chapter Fifty-Four - The Help

“Justin,” Luna said, looking at Rita, the phone still pressed to her ear.

“Are you okay, Luna?” he asked. “You sound off.” A pause. “Were you crying?”

Rita stared at her with a surprised expression, and an ‘what does he want?’ question on her face. Beats me, Luna thought to herself.

And then remembering his question, Luna sniffed and shook her head as if to clear the mental cobwebs that had formed there.

“Justin, what do you want? I don’t have time for this right now,” she said, about to disconnect the call.

“I know,” Justin said. “I heard about the memorial ground.”

Luna’s brows furrowed. “You do? How did you know?”

“I have…. sources,” he finally said. His tone tinged with regret. “I’m really sorry.”

Now Luna’s bows furrowed in anger. “Somehow I doubt that,” she returned coldly.

Silence. The line went dead silent for a few seconds that Luna thought Justin had hung up on her, but then he spoke up again.

“I know you may not be inclined to believe me, but I truly am sorry,”
