Chapter Fifty-Nine - The Heat

Hours later, Luna trudged up the porch steps to her home, bone-tired. The day had been long, now she just wanted to sleep deeply through the night. She didn’t want any intrusion from the day to interfere with that, so she left the curtains drawn as she made her way to her living room. She didn’t turn on any lights and she didn’t engage the locks, she just stepped out of her shoes and left them by the door. She dropped her purse on the sofa, making her way towards the kitchen island in the far side of the living room.

There was a small bar in the kitchen nook, she took out a bottle of scotch and a wineglass. She poured the drink into the cup and downed it in one gulp. Normally, with how tired she was, she would have just gone straight to bed, but tonight, she felt like she needed the drink. Just one, kind of like her own little celebration. And, scotch had been her dad’s favorite drink.
