Chapter Fifty-Six - The Call

There was silence for a few minutes on the phone as Luna told her mother that they had the memorial ground in their name now. And then Luna heard her sob, softly and very low she almost didn’t hear it.

Luna smiled, picturing her mother’s hand going to her mouth as relief poured through her. Luna knew her mother well enough to know how she would react to the news, and picturing her eyes shining with happiness even as they filled with tears, filled Luna’s heart with joy. A day that had started out hellish was fast becoming very fulfilled, her heart was bursting with joy and the fact that she knew her mom’s was too was just an addition. A very huge addition.

Luna closed her eyes, she pressed her hand to the middle of her chest as her mother’s son continued on the line.

“I thought they were going to- I thought-” Mira broke down, unable to go on.

Luna nodded even though she couldn’t see her. “I know. I know, me too,” she said.
