Varce’s POV
I had missed this office for the most part. I could tell it just got cleaned and there was a lot of paperwork and business deals waiting for me. Even though Boris had been working in my stead, it was still too much.
Who would have thought, memory issues at this point in my life. Somehow my father died and I got to know only three weeks ago because I woke up from a coma.
Still, I made sure his burial was grand, even though I detested the man for forcing me into this dark life, into his dark reign.
Now I'm back as the Captain.
Boris watched my every move as I went through some of the files that were on my desk. His features softened, like he pitied me for not remembering a lot of things.
The doctor said it was possible I could regain it, but it would take time and I wasn't supposed to stress myself at all, but here I am.
The most painful part is that apart from my father's burial, I still had to deal with the fact that a deal my father planned with another gang had gone south in terms of weapon sharing and unpaid debt.
Everyone watched me, wanting to see how I would handle it and what I would do exactly. The pressure was already weighing me down as I thought of possible solutions the whole ride home.
I wasn't new to this life but with each gang, caution needed to be taken. I needed to be wise with my dealing as I couldn't afford to have any more enemies especially in this dark moment of vulnerability.
“Captain Varce.” Boris lips curled up in a teasing grin as his voice cut through the silence.
Boris had been my best friend and personal assistant for years now so it's no surprise he stepped in for me the whole time I was in the hospital. Now he was just making fun of me.
“Boris, stop trying to make fun of me and just call me Varce. I'm sick, remember?”
He flashed a disapproving glare at my remark.
“Quit whining already. Have you thought of anything concerning that deal? I do have an idea on how to handle it.”
My eyes lit up in anticipation of what he had planned.
“Actually, it's been bothering me. I don't want any bloodshed and at the same time, I would never hesitate if it came to protecting our gang. What do you suggest? After all they are the ones that did the double crossing.” I stated as a matter of fact.
“I will reach out to their leader tomorrow. We'll see if we can come to a reasonable conclusion. If he acts funny, we kill.”
“You do that then.”
Boris tapped me slightly on my shoulder before walking out of my office. The second he did, I dropped the files and sank into my seat, then ran my hands through my face in complete tiredness.
I thought about the sealed envelope in my jacket pocket. It was something I wasn't ready to open. I knew that whatever was in it would shake things up for me and this gang, so I just let it sit there until I was ready. I couldn't even tell Boris about it.
In spite of all of this, realizing I didn't need a new recruit was at the top. Just why did they decide to recruit someone when I was away? I would've never let it happen.
“Igor! Igor!” I always had security, so one of my men came right in by the second call.
“The new recruit. Bring him to my office now.”
I would send this guy away. Now that things were rough, he could be my enemy for crying out loud. How did he even find us? It was awfully suspicious and I didn't care if I was being paranoid.
Igor did as instructed and after a good five minutes of doing absolutely nothing but resting, I got a timid, faint knock. If the office wasn't so quiet, I probably wouldn't have heard it. So he wasn't just petite, but he still had no balls? Knocking like a pussy?
No. He's leaving today.
“Come in.” I said, annoyance and irritation present in my voice. The tiny figure walked in, his face facing the floor instead of upwards to hold my gaze, his hands tightly squeezed at his front. His movement was lazy, but he managed to make it to the centre of the office.
“Sergey.”
“Captain.”
“Look at me when you're talking to me. Don't disrespect me.” I spat out.
He raised his head up and his eyes did nothing to hide his fright. He looked so small and frail. I wondered if he even had muscles under that jacket.
“Remove your jacket.” I ordered.
“Captain?” He jerked, shock spreading across his features within seconds. He was uncomfortable.
“Did you not hear what I said?”
He looked unsure for a second as if he would rather run off than do as I've ordered and just when I had given up, he got rid of his jacket. A black short-sleeved shirt was all he had on under it, so I ordered him to roll the sleeves up to his shoulders.
He did as ordered, his heart thumping in his chest. I grinned upon seeing them. His muscles were the most embarrassing I had ever come across in my entire life. He had the physique of a woman and he had a long way to go, a way I had no time to cater for.
“Look at those lean muscles. I don't even need to do much to send you away now. You're leaving today. Pack your things.”
“Captain! Why?” He cried out, his voice shaky like I just betrayed him.
“Don't question my order. Leave my office now.” I was clearly done with the conversation at this point.
“Please, please. Please let me stay. I'll do anything, I'll work hard. Just don't send me away.” He rubbed his hands together as he begged with all his heart.
“Who are you, and what have you come here for? What do you want?” My suspicion just kept growing.
“I just want to ride bikes and fit in.”
My lips curled up in an amused grin.
“And you think this is the place? In the face of war, can you even defend yourself?”
“Maybe if you let me you'll see. I'm sorry but I can't leave. I love it here.”
I blinked, then let out an incredulous laugh as my eyes scanned the length of this man. How dare he talk to me in such a manner?
“Are you talking back, Sergey?”
“No Captain. Just give me a chance. Just one time, any task.” His voice was throaty and it cracked a little. He really wanted to be here. Too bad we can't have all we want.
I chuckled darkly. He had shot himself in the leg for this. I would task him so hard he would beg to leave by himself and honestly, I have some impossible tasks already.
“Good. You will face your task tomorrow. If you fail it, I hope I won't have to remind you.”
“And if I pass, I get a wish.”
My eyebrows shot up again. Now I was conflicted; amused or annoyed?
“Do I look like Santa Claus?”
“No sir. Thank you, thank you!” He dashed out immediately.
I rubbed my eyes and breathed out, exhausted.
The nerve of this fucking woman.
Marina's POV“Sergey! What were you thinking! You do realize you just gave the captain the upper hand in this situation, right? He'll definitely make you leave. What are you going to do when you just got here?”Oliver's hands flew to his mouth when I told him this morning. The whole of last night, I turned in my sleep and when I managed to dream, beads of sweat would break out when I jerked awake. Nightmares of being caught, my life taken away from me when I've barely started. I tried to steady my breathing, telling myself that if I tricked my heart into believing I wasn't in distress, maybe it wouldn't be, but it didn't work, and Oliver was making it a hundred times worse.Won't tell him shit again, noted.“I'll figure it out. I'm leaving now, he just called me to the garage.” I said, standing up to leave. We just had lunch at the general cafeteria. I absolutely didn't enjoy the sauce that came with the rice. Gosh, I missed home for this one thing. I didn't even have a home anymore
Marina's POVI wanted to kill him more in this moment than I had wished to kill him since I saw him yesterday combined.I looked around me, and laughter filled the air. They were all laughing, some shook their heads like they were so sure that I was leaving, and the asshole in question stood at a corner, watching me, making all the hairs in my body stand. I tried to control my rage as I searched my head for help. I wasn't new to bikes and no one knew that but still, it was pretty long ago. I had this tutor or I'll say friend that I hung around with when I was younger. No we weren't lovers but one day, he kissed me, and I kissed him back, and we made out for hours. That was the end. I never saw him again even though I looked for him. I'm sure my mom had something to do with it. She was always watching and following me around even though she never admitted it. My sister was still with us.“Are you getting to work or not?”Fuck. I really zoned out again?“Or, you can't fix bikes?” He sa
Marina's POVI began to mount the new one back in position. I installed it using the reversal process for the removal. I made sure it was properly seated and it aligned with all the necessary mounting points. I finally reconnected the wires to their respective terminals. I torqued all the bolts and reconnected the battery. When I finished, I rose up and kick-started the ignition. It rumbled to life, but just before I could scream in victory, it made silly noises with wire sparks. My smile faded and I immediately crouched back down. I didn't want to look at Varce’s face but when I did, he was even angrier than he was initially.Damn. I checked for any issues over and over, fixed the minor ones and finally started the engine again. It worked. It fucking worked. No weird noises. I rose to my feet and looked around but they all looked stunned, and I was unclear if it was in a bad way or not. Then I saw Varce approach me and for some reason I took a step back and watched him start the
Marina's POVThe hurdles had only just begun. Truly, this was no place for a woman. These men were delinquents, well some of them. You have no idea what we were up to. My first graffiti project, on an old woman's coffee shop. I swallowed, sure I didn't want to do it, but I had no choice. They were absolutely ridiculous and Oliver was practically the most excited as he dragged me out of bed. His bed was just below mine so he found it pretty easy.I was always on my toes, making sure to never slip. I couldn't even shower with the boys as I had to pack up my breasts properly, it was a whole thing. I couldn't wait for this revenge to be over so I would leave here. Now, we wait. Well, we did wait after all for night time before we struck. What I didn't know was how this night would probably take a turn for the worst for me, just after I had won the hearts of almost all the guys after making them feel small for fixing a bike they couldn't. It was a whole thing.“Finally we get to graffiti
Marina's POV“No no no! No, please wait!” I pleaded as he rose to his feet.“You can't do this! You can't!” I cried out.“I can do whatever the fuck I want. Yes, you fixed my bike, but you're not a good sport. You don't have what it takes to belong here. I warned you not to fuck up, and you couldn't even listen for up to twenty four hours, could you?” His voice was deeper and angrier as the seconds rolled by, and he turned into someone I didn't understand, someone unapproachable.“No, but–”“There's no buts, you're leaving.”Then I took a deep breath, unable to understand what the hell was going on. Why was he supporting such? Destroying an old woman's wall with spray paint? Who does that?He turned away to leave but stopped in his tracks when I raised my voice at him, my mouth running faster than I intended. He then turned back around to face me as he listened, looking like he couldn't believe the words that were spewing out of my mouth.“What kind of a leader are you? You're support
Marina's POVRival gangs? A race? For what?We woke up very early in the morning. We barely even had breakfast and my stomach churned. I couldn't get used to this early enough? I guess there are only some things guys can deal with.No wonder Varce said we had something to do, so this was it? How often did it happen?Times like this, I wanted my bathroom so badly because all the guys were rushing in to have a general bath, but I obviously couldn't join them. At least no one noticed to taunt me with it, even Oliver. When they were done, I snuck in and immediately did what I had to do, luckily I got ready at the nick of time.We ran to the garage like sexually deprived guys going to get some good shit. Everyone mounted their bikes, apparently there was a long journey ahead.I didn't have a bike, so I stood. The one that they gave me a while ago was pretty ugly and so not my style, and I knew there were tons of new ones. Varce came out and I caught him staring at me. Well, caught is a st
Marina’s POVOliver frowned at me from afar, already with his partner. That's when I knew I was in deep trouble. Or, maybe I wasn't. I was a fucking racer but still, Varce had never lost a race so maybe he was better than me?I gulped and stared, waiting for the first racers to commence. I didn't even notice there was a referee until he stood at the beginning line with a flag. It was some guy from our team against theirs and with a whistle blown, they began to race.Like the boy, I began to panic and also cheer at our member as he raced. The rush of adrenaline was so thrilling and needed burning, and this was the perfect way to do it; jumping up and screaming. He lost. The one after lost as well. The third person finally won. Imagine my shock when I was picked up by a member behind me in shock due to his excitement. I was so startled and he immediately dropped me down, apologizing. I was so scared, what if he grazed around my chest with his hands? I shifted, a bit uncomfortable even
Marina's POVVarce mounted his bike, and we didn't speak. The hair was heavy, filled with tension and honestly, fear. His silence was scary for some reason. My heart began to beat faster than normal, unsure of what was about to happen. The two leaders were about to have a fight, a serious one. Too bad it wasn't my fight. To crown it all, just when I was thinking about slowing down and letting him win, he spoke to me.“Sergey, be fucking careful.” His voice was thick with emotions, but still controlled. Was he threatened now? Are you kidding me? I said nothing, fully bent on doing anything to make sure I won again. Fuck Varce! The whistle blew and immediately, we sped off with him at the lead. Truly that Harley had some magic in it. It made one win. All my stunts were achievable and I felt like I was on top of the world. This one looked like I was definitely set up with it. My clan mates were such dickheads, they couldn't even support me.They kept yelling ‘Captain’, cheering him on a
Marina's POVAfter eating breakfast, I had a quick shower and everything for the party was going well. I stood by a corner and brought out my phone to text you know who.“Hey. You there?” I typed nervously, unsure of the outcome. If Varce had to ask me, it meant that he had probably asked everyone else about her whereabouts, and he also wasn't actually keeping tabs on her. Well that's great because if he was, he would've definitely caught me since she drove straight here from the club.My phone pinged almost immediately. At least she was online. She was unusually quiet. The Selena I know would've been blowing up my phone, talking about how excited she was about the party. Her brother must've really scared her and now that he's desperately looking for her, I hated to do this.“Why? Wanna hand me over to my brother?”I swallowed. Such a smart girl. Or maybe she was used to it.“He did ask me to lure you out. He's seriously looking for you. Are you hiding?”“I hope he's not bothering yo
Marina's POVI woke up that morning due to a fake fire alarm system alert. We all got out of bed in a rush, thinking that truly, there was a fire, but it was all Varce. We rushed out of the building, only to see him standing there unbothered. When we were all out, the alert stopped. There was no fire. Why did he do that?“I'm the only one allowed to do this, and it will only happen once. It has happened already so that's done. I brought you out here this way because it was the best way to wake you guys up and keep you active. The adrenaline is pumping. Now, we are aware that there will be a party here tonight,”“Yes Captain.”’ We all chorused loudly in response.“Very Good. Sergey, come here.”He called out to me, and it shocked me. Especially after last night. What happened after? It was great to know he got back safely, although I wasn't meant to care. He should've died.in front of everyone, I took timid steps across the field and reached where he stood. He glanced at me for a se
Marina's POV“When are you leaving? I just rejected your proposal.” I clicked my tongue as I eyed him.He seemed rather amused.“Sassy and hard to get, yeah? Fine, I'll leave you alone. You'll come crawling back to me.”“So you're threatening me now?” I raised my brows. This was fun.He said nothing as he rose up. He took one last long stare, raking all over my body as I hoped to not get caught before he tore his eyes away and disappeared.I could breathe again.“That's Varce Bosta, Incase you don't know. He normally doesn't have any interest in brunettes. Turning him down is crazy.” I didn't even realize that the bar girl was listening to our conversation. I found it rude.“If you want him, go have him then.” I said spitefully, afterwards regretting my decision. I wanted to kill him, but I wanted to fuck him too. It was such a tough battle.“Such a bitch, huh.” She glared then ignored me, even when I asked for another shot. Whatever.I stood up to leave and began to make my way throu
Marina's POVI can't believe I let Selena drag me to a downtown club streets away. She took me to her car while I was still suffering from shock. When we arrived, she hastily removed my men's outfit like it disgusted her. She even got me a brunette wig and eye contacts.I enjoyed more baggy outfits, male outfits and I was unsure of how I wanted to feel with the tiny red dress she got me.She was awfully thorough in absolutely trying to frigging get me in trouble.“Why did you invite me to this?”“You need to loosen up! It's annoying hanging around dirty boys so I know how stressful it is. I'm doing you a favor!”“No you're just a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. Even if you get out of this, I will be in a lot of trouble if I get caught.”“Oh relax, you're overreacting and completely freaking out. All I did was humanize you a bit. Don't worry you won't get caught.”I sighed, accepting my fate with this silly girl. After a successful makeover, she handed the mirror over to me and
Marina's POVI made good use of Malcolm. He was weird, but at least he took me to a proper illegal hard drug store, where we finished Varce’s money. I got all the drugs and packs of cigarettes. When we were done and we came back to the race course, Varce was already waiting, leaning on his side of the car. He looked better, but clearly still upset. I was unsure if sitting beside him in a car would be the best decision at the moment but I didn't really have a choice.Malcolm left. Bummer. He was actually kind of fun. Now, I had to deal with this annoying guy's tantrums. He didn't say a word to me, but he got into the car. I did the same as expected of me and he moved to turn on the ignition, then he stopped aggressively, startling me.“Hanging out with the enemy?” What? What was he saying now?“Enemy? You mean Malcolm?”“I don't like that guy. I don't approve of you hanging around with him.”“You're the one that brought him here.” I said innocently, because I couldn't understand why h
Marina's POVMy chest? What? I have boobs!I began to panic. What the hell? What should I do? I can't afford to get caught!I rushed to Varce and burst into tears.“Please, I'm not ready. My arm is okay, please not my chest. It would hurt.” I stuttered, pleading with him.His expression went from astonished, like he couldn't understand my reaction, to sly.“That's why it's going to be on your chest. Go inside and quit whining. You're being such a pussy.”He was about to turn away to leave but I still tugged at his arm. I was ready to lick his feet, anything to make sure I don't get fucking naked today.“Please, please. Fine I'm all you said but please, not my chest. Please.”Then he stared at me with interest.“You're scared of something. What's wrong with you?”He caught on. I couldn't fucking tell him what the problem was.“I'll do whatever you want if you let me get it on my arm.” That was my last resort.“Anything?” His brows furrowed, a stupid smile or mischief tugging at his lip
Marina's POVI practically shrunk under his scrutiny and I wanted to run away. For the first time, I was a little bit scared of him. I must've done something. I immediately flew up from my seat just as he reached my table. He was so near. I swallowed.“What do you want with my sister? I don't play with that girl.” He practically glared at me and he seemed like he was even ready to snap my neck. How was he this audacious after what he did to me? It pissed me off. I wanted to just stab him and just kill him off then leave, but I couldn't.“She's just a friend.” I replied with a straight face, not in the mood for his bullshit. I was free for the rest of the day so I just wanted to hang out with my roommates.“I don't care.” He spat.“Is this how you threatened Oliver? Yeah, she told me.” His face tightened so hard it almost looked different. He looked like a panther, ready to pounce on him for talking back, but it only made me want to do it even more.“That little shit- who said you cou
Marina's POVSlowly I was getting the hang of things. At least I was past that phase. I confided in Oliver about what happened and he told me it didn't happen to him, but he knew about others it also happened to and that it was a bit normal, except targeted at certain people.I looked at him, knowing fully well that when he joined, if Selena had taken interest in him at that point, Varce would've made him do that too.It was painful, but I let it go. It still didn't mean that I let Varce off the hook, so I kept ignoring him or being in places he wasn't, hoping the stupid crush I had on him would die.It had only been a couple of days and I wondered if Selena would ever keep her promise but as I looked ahead, she was walking towards me with a big ass bag.As always, she looked breathtaking. Jean shorts and a green one shoulder dress. Damn, Varce had such a pretty sister. It was no wonder why he was being so hard towards her. I mean, now I clearly understand.“Hey you!” She beamed the s
Marina's POVIt felt so good to be delivering tasks personally. It meant Varce trusted me to a certain extent, and that was more than exciting. I didn't forget everything that happened earlier today and absolutely didn't forgive him, but I guess he was trying to measure up for it.Okay, I like him again, but I'll still kill him when he regains his memories.I didn't need to drive my bike to the downtown bar because although it was a bit far, I just wanted to feel the breeze directly and maybe connect with nature. A certain time for me to be alone by myself. After a good minute, I arrived and met with the owner. He told me the package wasn't for him, and it shocked me.“I don't understand you Sir, my captain, Varce, ordered me to bring this to you.” I said, still standing my ground. I just wanted to do this, have a nice shower, have dinner and have a great sleep. What the hell?“And he told you to wait for further instructions, didn't he?”“Yes he did.” I did remember that.“Good. Wait
