Marina's POV

I wanted to kill him more in this moment than I had wished to kill him since I saw him yesterday combined.

I looked around me, and laughter filled the air. They were all laughing, some shook their heads like they were so sure that I was leaving, and the asshole in question stood at a corner, watching me, making all the hairs in my body stand.

I tried to control my rage as I searched my head for help. I wasn't new to bikes and no one knew that but still, it was pretty long ago. I had this tutor or I'll say friend that I hung around with when I was younger. No we weren't lovers but one day, he kissed me, and I kissed him back, and we made out for hours.

That was the end. I never saw him again even though I looked for him. I'm sure my mom had something to do with it. She was always watching and following me around even though she never admitted it. My sister was still with us.

“Are you getting to work or not?”

Fuck. I really zoned out again?

“Or, you can't fix bikes?” He said in a mocking tone as he watched me. Others laughed. I wanted more than anything to prove him wrong. If he keeps acting like an idiot, maybe my lust for him will clear and I'll finally hate him with no mercy. This was great, he should keep it up.

Not saying a word, I reached for the iron table where all the tools were and prayed in my heart for direction, to know what I was doing.

If I didn't fix this now stupid bike, I would leave here, and that was totally out of the question. Like hell I'll leave anyway.

I took a set of tools with me and began to dismantle the bike. At least I knew how to do that.

“Hmm, so you know how to dismantle a bike. I wasn't expecting that, but great start.”

I ignored him and continued with what I was doing. After I dismantled the bike, I began to search for the problem.

I examined the clutch first, even though it clearly couldn't be the problem. I checked the brakes, the fork and the battery. They were all sound. At least that's what I thought at first.

I didn't even know what I was doing half the time. I wish I had a lead but I couldn't ask because it would mean early defeat. How did he expect me to fix it when the best repairers couldn't?

At a point I got frustrated and began to clean everywhere that needed cleaning as it was covered in dust. How annoying. When I assembled everything back and started the ignition, I didn't fucking work.

I started it again, it was so fucking dead and unmoving. The bike wanted to disgrace me so badly.

“Looks like someone is leaving us today”

Varce smiled as he said it, his gaze never leaving mine. Clam members didn't say a word.

Beads of sweat broke out. I was so exhausted.

“Want water? Are you thirsty?” His voice was softer.

I was definitely parched and my voice was throaty as I nodded my head.

“Someone get him water.” I waited and someone did. When I took a huge gulp, I felt rejuvenated, like I could fucking fly. I couldn't remember or think of a time I was this exhausted in my entire life.

I felt like I could do all things. This time around I took deep breaths and began to dismantle the bike again. This time, it felt like everything I learned about bikes rose to the surface of my brain and I was getting clarity.

I checked everywhere. The fuel level, fuses, and even the starter motor. Frustration was slowly digging into my skin again when I noticed something.

Yes. Something was definitely amiss. Something small, finally. Fucking finally.

A sick smile adorned my lips. This was an issue that was very easy to miss, as even I had missed it a couple of times.

I raised my head to look at Varce, and he was staring at me like he had realized that I knew something.

The ignition coil. It had gotten bad. Really bad. I immediately got to work. I started with making sure to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery to avoid shocks, disconnect all wires attached to the coil then remove it from its position.

I looked up, and it was all quiet. The men had confused expressions, trying to understand what the hell I was doing. Honestly, I was doing anything and hoping for the best. My memory wasn't so clear either.

Then I paused. Yes, I was definitely stupid.

There wasn't a new ignition coil I could use since the old one was bad. I had no other choice but to demand for one. I stood up, grease was all over me as I called out to Varce.

“Captain.” He was no longer looking at me. I guess what I was doing wasn't interesting to him anymore as he was having a conversation with the other person, probably his assistant. The one that brought me in. I watched his emotions and mood switch like crazy within seconds, it was like watching a person doing impressions of other people.

He craned his neck to face me immediately he heard his title.

“What?” He looked pissed.

“I'll need a new ignition coil. I think it could be the issue. I've removed the old one.”

Everyone was just staring at me and I began to shrink under their unwelcoming gaze. It was so scary.

“Ignition coil?” He repeated.

“Yes, that's the problem with the bike.”

He nodded thoughtfully as he stared at the Harley.

“I'll get it for you, but if it's still not fixed, you'll not just leave. I'll personally deal with you for ruining it further.” His tone was incredibly icy.

“Yes, Captain.”

I was dead ready to claw at his face. I watched him order someone to get it and in less than a second, the person returned back with the coil. So he had new spare parts just randomly sitting pretty in his garage?

Well, better for me. I could feel their gazes on me as I collected the coil. This time around, he stood from where he sat and walked up to where I was working, watching my every move with some interest that I hadn't seen earlier.

Maybe a part of him was hopeful that I would fix it for him. Damm, now I really wanted to. I hoped it would work.
