As Alexa and Nicole excused themselves from the rest of the guests and went upstairs, Miranda had already overheard their conversation while serving drinks to the guests. She was particularly alert whenever discussions revolved around Derrick.
The top floor was off-limits; Derrick hated to be disturbed, and Miranda was well aware of this. However, she wanted to know what Alexa and Nicole were planning to do on the top floor.
Seeing how elegantly beautiful Alexa and Nicole looked in their stunning dresses that swept the floor, Miranda felt a twinge of jealousy, wishing she weren't a maid. Although she had managed to obtain some college education, she couldn't resign from her maid position, especially when she admired the most handsome man on the planet.
"Ouch! Watch where you're going!" a guest yelled at Miranda for stepping on her toes. She lost her grip on the tray, and it slipped from her hands, staining the guest's dress.
"How dare you, lowly maid, stain my white dress? Do you have any idea how much this outfit cost?" The guest was equally annoyed. She was a young woman of similar size to Miranda. The fact that the celebrant didn’t seem interested in his own party only fueled the guests' irritation.
"I am so sorry," Miranda began, but before she could finish her apology, the guest slapped her hard across the left cheek.
"You don't deserve to be a maid here! Get out!" the guest yelled, her voice causing the living room to fall silent.
The lady of the house was equally shocked. She chastised the guest, "Melody, that’s not how to treat a fellow lady. She made a mistake and apologized to you while we were all here. Come here, Miranda," Lady Loretta called to her.
"Show Melody to the room above. I believe Nicole still has some spare clothes left from when she got married last year."
"Okay, Ma. Come with me," Miranda said to the angry lady, who now looked pleased to be taken upstairs for a change.
As guards stood watch around the mansion and in the living room, the jubilation continued as Miranda escorted Melody upstairs.
Melody was happy to be away from the living room and asked Miranda, "Where's Master Derrick's room?"
Miranda didn’t want to be friendly with the woman who had just insulted her. Although Melody was also fair-skinned like her—Miranda was naturally fair without using any toning lotion—she didn’t care to engage.
"Can't you speak?" Melody yelled at Miranda again. Miranda didn't want to endure any more insults from this guest.
"What do you need Master Derrick's room for? Are you here for the birthday party, or are you here for the master of the house?" Miranda questioned the bewildered woman.
"What? How dare you speak to me in such an insolent manner? Have you lost your mind?" Melody charged at Miranda, wanting to attack her. Miranda didn’t even know which of the rooms belonged to Derrick or his sisters.
The mansion was vast, and there were too many rooms above to know which one was the master’s or his sister’s.
Just as the lady raised her hand to strike Miranda again, Derrick stepped out of his sitting room with his sister and Alexa, having just changed into comfortable homewear.
"What’s going on here?" Derrick demanded, and Melody quickly withdrew her hand and flashed Derrick a sweet smile.
"Good evening, sir. Madam sent this maid to show me to one of her daughter's rooms so I can change my outfit after she spilled wine on me. But the maid is rude and refuses to guide me to the room," Melody said, looking from Derrick to Miranda, irritably.
"Hmm, that's a total lie, sir. She was asking me for your bedroom," Miranda interjected. Silence filled the hallway, and to Derrick's surprise, Miranda’s voice was soft, and he hadn’t heard anyone speak in such a gentle tone before.
He eyed the maid curiously, having not heard her speaking before.
"That's not a reason to confront our maid. You're not the owner of the house, and I saw you trying to attack her. Leave now; you are not welcome, and your contract with the Luis firm will be terminated as well." Derrick said casually as he walked toward the staircase to go downstairs. Melody immediately dropped to her knees and pleaded, "Please, Master Derrick. Forgive me. I didn't mean to attack the maid. She's lying, and I wasn't asking her for your room."
With leisurely strides, Derrick ignored Melody begging him. He went downstairs to thank all the guests who had taken the time to honor his mother’s invitation.
After Derrick, his sister, and Alexa left the top floor, Melody stood up and pounced on Miranda. She wanted to get revenge for making her lose her job and spoiling her chances with the master of the house.
"You witch! How dare you ruin my chances? I'm going to kill you today!"
Melody was unprepared; she didn’t know that Miranda could fight. As she rushed to attack Miranda, Miranda dodged the attack and kicked her hard, then she pounced on her and began beating her.
"Somebody help!" Melody screamed as Miranda landed multiple slaps in retaliation for the first slap she had received.
Miranda pinned Melody down onto the tiled floor and slapped her hard across on her face, even pulling off the lady’s wig.
However, with the music playing in the living room and the bodyguards having already escorted Derrick downstairs to the grand hall, no one could hear Melody's screaming in distress.
After dealing with Melody, Miranda ran into one of the rooms in the corridor to take a cool evening bath.
The birthday celebration had long ended, and Derrick had thanked all the guests who had come to his 25th birthday party. Likewise, he escorted his sister and Alexa tothe driveway as they prepared to leave the residence.
"Baby brother, we have to start going home now. Enjoy your night. I was thinking, why not ask Alexa out to be your girlfriend? She works alongside you at the office and spends most of her days with you. Alexa comes from a prestigious family here, and she would make a good wife for you," Nicole finally said to Derrick, smiling.
Derrick frowned slightly and replied, "I'm not interested in a relationship, and Alexa knows this. Unless she’s the one requesting you to speak to me about a relationship."
"Not at all, Master Derrick," Alexa quickly interjected, as she didn't want to lose her job, especially when she noticed Derrick’s irritated expression.
"That's fine, sister. Let’s call it a night. I have to go inside now and rest, and then I will give your proposal some thought. Alexa Godwin is a wonderful woman, and I wouldn’t mind asking her out the proper way," Derrick said, placing his hands into his trouser pockets and offering his elder sister a warm smile.
He didn’t want either of them worrying about him.
"That's fine, baby brother. Good night, and bye," Nicole waved to Derrick as she got into her red car and drove home to her husband and their new baby. Alexa nervously smiled as she walked up to her sleek black car.
She pulled the black car door open, got inside, and feeling Master Derrick’s gaze on her, she drove out of the opulent residence.
As Lady Loretta dismissed the maids to clear the used plates and empty bottles and to tidy up the living room after all the guests had left her mansion, she noticed a lady wincing in pain as she descended the staircase with great difficulty."Melody," Lady Loretta exclaimed in shock upon seeing how disheveled Melody looked, as if she had been beaten senseless."What happened to you?" Lady Loretta inquired in disbelief, while all the maids in the living room paused to look at Melody and gasped at the horror of how the once-arrogant lady now appeared."Milady, it was one of the maids—the maid you assigned to show me to the top floor. She attacked me," Melody managed to speak, her cheeks visibly swollen."You mean Miranda did this to you? I don't believe it. Miranda is innocent and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Since she started working here, she hasn't gotten into any fights that I know of. Are you sure you're referring to Miranda, or was it another maid who did this to you?"While the older woma
After Derrick left his mother's room, he decided to retire to his own room to rest. The night was chilly, and it also seemed like it was going to rain soon.Derrick reflected on what his elder sister had said about him dating Alexa. He liked Alexa, but he wanted to focus on his father's firm first and expand it to other states, as well as open mini-branches all over the world.Returning to his room, Derrick noticed an unfamiliar scent lingering in the air. Switching on the light, his deep blue eyes darkened at the sight of a lady's gown and pants on the marble tiled floor. Not only that, but he also heard a feminine voice humming inside his bathroom. His room was very spacious; it included a study room, a relaxing room, and a library where he had studied some of his books before graduating two years ago. He also had a private gym if he did not want to go to the main gym downstairs, which he shared with his sisters. All his elder sisters were married and had left his mother’s home. Nico
Derrick hadn't thought he would be able to resist Miranda. She was so alluring; her hips had awakened something deep within him. After returning to his bathroom, he wanted to take a bath to relieve his arousal, but then he remembered that Miranda had used his bath.Never had Derrick shared his bathroom with anyone before; now a maid of low status dared to use his bath, sponge, and soap. Derrick felt irritated and wanted to discipline the maid, but how would he report such news to his mother? His mother was already over 70 years old. What if she had a heart attack and fainted from the shock?"No, I cannot let my mother find out about this," Derrick said, feeling enraged as his member still throbbed and ached, needing that round ass to cool it off."Damn it! What kind of temptation is this? I guess I should have that maid fired tomorrow morning. Isn't she the same maid who dared to beat up Melody to such an extent? I see that she's on a mission here, and I will deal with her personally t
"Oh!" Miranda rubbed her sleepy eyes, wishing she could have enjoyed more wonderful dreams. However, as her big brown eyes fell on the wall clock in her room, she gasped, "Oh my goodness! It’s 10 AM!"It was Saturday, but Miranda knew that Lady Loretta often picked on her to make her tea and attend to her other services.Rushing out of bed without a care in the world, Miranda quickly ran out of her maid's room, hurrying past Juliet, who shook her head in disgust.Juliet was two years older than Miranda and was a single mother, though she hid it from the Luis family.Juliet had gotten the opportunity to work in the Luis family home after being kicked out by her parents. Although they were wealthy, they disowned her when they learned she was pregnant out of wedlock. She had spent one night with a mysterious man and, although she could identify him if she saw him again, it had been five years, and she still hadn’t encountered him.He was a young guy then, and she doubted he had even been
"Derrick, come here. I would like to have a word with you," Lady Loretta called her only son back. She knew that Derrick was not pleased with her actions in pardoning Miranda; however, she liked Miranda a lot. Since Miranda had not wronged her personally nor done anything wrong to the other maids, she could not simply terminate Miranda's employment in her home.More than likely, Lady Loretta had other hidden objectives. She could not disclose her plans yet, as she had taken Miranda away from the orphanage home personally and enrolled the young woman in school. There was a time when Lady Loretta had gone to the orphanage for one of her leisurely kind-hearted deeds. There, she saw the beautiful young girl who was not happy and mostly stared at the door.Lady Loretta knew the young girl's wish was to leave the orphanage and venture out into the world and establish herself. She had never disclosed to Miranda that she was the woman behind her freedom. Lady Loretta made an offer to the orpha
"Mother, I would like to take a stroll outside to clear my mind about some things, as I said before," Derrick said as he immediately looked away from Miranda. He saw the pain in her eyes and how she stared at him accusingly.*What did I do wrong to her?* Derrick wondered as he quickly averted his gaze to his mother.Miranda quickly informed Lady Loretta, "Ma, I have prepared your tea. Your breakfast is served.""Good. Derrick, come join me for breakfast first before leaving. Miranda woke up late today, and because of her rudeness last night, she decided to let me starve this morning, forgetting that she had to prepare my tea," Lady Loretta commented as she rose from the couch and strolled over to the dining table to take her seat.Derrick followed his mother, gently pulling out a chair for her to sit. "And that’s why I told you to fire her. Anything that causes you pain shouldn’t be kept close to you.""Derrick, I would not like to think that is how you treated all your father's staff
Even Miranda was taken aback by the new man's words. She had just walked into the living room, slowly closing the door behind her. Miranda didn't want to believe that Alex was as troublesome as Derrick."Oh! That was a rude thing to say, Alex. You should have simply said that you dated Juliet before. I know Juliet Colton is not from a poor home like the rest. She is a classy, bossy girl who exudes an air of superiority. I did my research on her and heard she had a child out of wedlock, which is why her billionaire parents sent her away from their mansion.""She was pregnant?" Alex looked stunned, and Juliet was more than embarrassed that her life’s secret had become public knowledge. She immediately ran away from the living room to hide her shame."Juliet, where are you running off to?" Lady Loretta asked in a low voice as she called Juliet back, but the latter didn't respond and ran to her room to cry it all out.The tension in the living room intensified, and Miranda was equally stun
Looking confused, Miranda did not understand where Lady Loretta was going with her comments."I don't understand, Ma," Miranda said. Lady Loretta offered her a warm smile."I know you're upset about what Derrick said regarding lower-class families. You shouldn't be annoyed with him. It's one reason you shouldn't eavesdrop on other people's conversations," Lady Loretta emphasized."I'm sorry, Ma," Miranda apologized, her head bowed low."It's okay. Come sit here. I've wanted to talk to you about this for a long time, but I haven't had the chance," Lady Loretta added. Miranda finally raised her head and looked at the older woman."Should I sit beside you, Ma?" Miranda repeated, unsure she had heard correctly. What if Master Derrick came in and saw her sitting with his mother? Wouldn't he fire her for disrespect? Miranda wondered, her hesitation clear on her face.Observing Miranda's hesitation, Lady Loretta added, "You don't have to worry about Derrick. He wouldn't barge in here without
The following day, Miranda and Derrick stepped out to go for their wedding shopping, while Oliver insisted on going with them. Miranda wore a red dress that was loose-fitting, paired with black shoes, and had her blonde hair styled in a bun. Derrick wore a blue shirt and black pants, along with black shoes. Oliver wore a similar shirt design like Derrick's, along with black trousers and black shoes. They looked adorable as they walked into the big mall, browsing beautiful wedding dresses and accessories."Welcome, sir, madam. What would you like to purchase?" the sales assistant asked."Wedding gowns," Miranda said, and the young lady clad in a white top and black skirt showed Miranda the collection of wedding dresses they had."Wow, they're all pretty," Miranda smiled as she browsed through the long white gowns beautifully displayed on mannequins."Which do you prefer?" the young lady asked with a bright smile."All of them," she joked, and the sales representative laughed."Lovely!
One week later, it was a bright, sunny Sunday, and Miranda with Oliver was set to travel to the city with Derrick. She had already packed most of her essentials and delivered them to the city. What was left for her was to carry her last box, filled with her clothes and also Oliver's clothes. Most of her cars had been sent to the city as well, but she didn't intend to sell her house or close down her shop. Getting married to CEO Derrick Luis didn't mean that she should discard all her hard work. The sound of a car honking at her gate disrupted her thoughts. Wearing a pink floral dress and plain black shoes, Miranda walked out of her house and approached the black gate to find out who was there. She planned to rent the house once she completely moved out and settled in the city. She had dismissed her gate man, but the estate gatekeeper was still present.Upon reaching the gate, she pulled it open after confirming who was there."Derrick," she smiled, opening the gate for his driver to e
THE NEXT SUNDAY MORNING..Derrick was in Miranda's room, and he spoke to her about her business."Babe, you know that as we're getting married, we will need to know more about our businesses. To follow me to my company and also, make our business jointly together," Derrick said. He lay on the bed, watching Miranda brushing her teeth, as he finished speaking to her about his father's company."That's nice. There's nothing much about mine. You know, I was thinking about it. I won't be able to keep in touch with them here if I go with you. So can we open another branch in the city, while we base there?" she asked him, as she finished brushing her teeth in the bathroom."That's fine. I haven't considered that before. But we need to expand our business to more states," Derrick said.Miranda smiled and joined him on the bed after she was through brushing her teeth. She hugged him and kissed him directly on his lips."Babe, I'm discussing with you about our business, and all your focus is on
"Welcome," Miranda told Derrick as she hugged and kissed him lightly on his lips."Welcome, Dad," Oliver said, and Derrick smiled at him. "Thank you."They entered the house together and made their way to the couch."What's the delicious smell? Is your chef around?" Derrick asked about Emily, and Miranda blushed."No, Emily isn't my chef but my friend. Her mother works for me though, so I took her like my sister," she said, leading Derrick to the dining table, and he smiled as he settled on a chair beside her.Oliver took his seat beside Derrick, and Miranda stood beside Derrick and set his meal in front of them. She walked up to meet Oliver and placed his meal in front of him before she went to sit across from Derrick."How do you see the meal? It's my first time officially cooking," she blushed, observing Derrick's and Oliver's faces as they prepared to taste the food."Um, it's yummy, Mom," Oliver beams and smiled."It's nice," Derrick commented, and Miranda smiled at them and resp
When Derrick arrived in the city, he went home, getting the notification from Lady Stephanie that his mother was at home.As he arrived home, he walked into the house happily. "Mom!" Derrick rushed to meet her and hugged her.Lady Loretta sat on the couch and smiled as Derrick hugged her warmly. She knew he was in a good mood and had heard he went to meet Miranda."Welcome back, Mom," Derrick said, and his mother replied calmly, "Thank you. You look so happy. How are Miranda and Oliver doing?""They are fine, Mom," Derrick said, still smiling, and that made his mother look relieved."I am happy to hear that. It's good to see that she has forgiven you. So when did you both plan to marry?" Lady Loretta asked."Soon," Derrick said, standing up from the couch. "I will propose to her, I have lovely plans for that. So don't worry."Lady Loretta smiled, looking at Derrick's handsome face. "Okay," she agreed."I have to go upstairs and freshen up. How is your health now, Mom?" He looked at hi
Once Derrick and Oliver were in the room."Would you like to bathe?" Derrick asked his son."No, Dad. I am tired," Oliver replied and went to his bed to sleep."How do you see my room, Dad?" Oliver asked as he went to climb on his bed happily."It's beautiful and handsome like you. A typical boy's room," he replied and saw his son smile."Mom helped me to furnish it and buys a lot of game toys for me," he said, grinning from cheek to cheek."That's so sweet of her. I am sorry that I wasn't there with you before. But I promise to set up a bigger room for you in the city, okay," Derrick said as he moved over to his son's bed to meet Oliver.Oliver sat up on the bed and took off his socks."Okay, Dad," he replied and went to lay on the bed and drift to sleep.Derrick looked around his son's room, feeling guilty for being absent in his son's life. He finally walked up to cover him up with his small blanket, careful not to make any noise that would awake Oliver. After that, he turned off t
Derrick's car arrived at a fancy restaurant, and they got out of the car and went into the Restaurant building together. Miranda was nervous to be in the same space as Derrick. This was the first time that he was taking her out on a date.Derrick requested a private spot, and he was taken away with Miranda to the Restaurant's private section.Derrick could see that Miranda appeared nervous. He smiled at her and considered in his mind to get her a lovely wedding ring and to propose to her. But he wasn't confident to propose to her in a restaurant.Miranda sat down first, before Oliver and Derrick, as there were only three chairs surrounding a table where they sat."What would you like to have?" Derrick inquired. Miranda picked up the menu and replied, "Just chicken pepper soup is okay."She looked at her son and asked him, "What would you like to have, Oliver?""The same, Mom," Oliver smiled. He was happy that his parents were together."Okay, bring the same request for me too," Derric
Derrick looked from Miranda to Larry as Larry walked out of the house with a smirk."Good morning, Mr. Luis," Larry greeted Derrick, extending his hand for a handshake.Derrick looked at Larry's open right palm, not wanting to accept his hand. However, upon seeing Miranda looking at him, Derrick finally shook hands with Larry."You should consider yourself lucky that she chose you over me. Congratulations," Larry smirked and waved goodbye to Oliver. He walked away to his car while Derrick shifted his gaze and looked at Miranda.Miranda blushed as she watched Larry get into his car and drive off."What were you doing with him?" Derrick asked as he moved closer to meet Miranda by the door frame, just as Larry's car drove out of her residence."Mom!" Oliver let go of Derrick's hand and rushed to hug his mother, as he was also surprised to see Uncle Larry in his mother's house. Although Oliver knew they were friends, he didn't suspect anything bad."We are friends. So he came around to se
Derrick wasn't pleased that Miranda didn't respond to him after he had woken from his sleep and checked his phone for any possible missed calls. He decided to have his bath, bathe Oliver, and they dressed up in black suits, preparing to visit the local town. "Dad, where are we going to?" Oliver inquired as Derrick dressed him up in the room, combing his son's black hair. "We are going to see your Mom, and my company too," Derrick's reply was short, but Oliver giggled "Yay!" Oliver excitedly walked out from the room with Derrick, and they made their way downstairs. "Good morning, Aunt," Derrick greeted Lady Evelyn, who was around and wearing a white nightdress. She was a chubby woman and very tall in height. "Derrick, where are you and Oliver heading to? I almost forgot that you are controlling Dad's company. Because you're always at home," said Lady Evelyn. She sat on a chair at the dining table. Derrick smiled as he led Oliver to settle on their seat. "I just wanted to t
