99| Noticed the difference

Derrick's eyes narrowed as he read through Miranda's chat. She was warning him to return her ring. He took the ring out of his coat and stared at the design. It was an expensive, diamond-encrusted ring. Derrick wondered who had engaged Miranda.

"Maybe her fiancé is rich. Is he that man I saw her with last weekend?" he pondered, thinking about who Miranda could possibly be in a relationship with.

"Maybe he's the one," Derrick murmured, frowning as he tried to recall where he had seen the man before, but he couldn't remember. He sighed and placed the ring in his locker, not intending to return it to Miranda. He felt bitter about the sight of the ring; it should have been him proposing to Miranda, not another man.

Derrick exited his sitting room and went downstairs to have dinner with his mother and sister. Upon entering the dining room, Lady Loretta had finished her meal but was still seated at the table. She stood up to leave, and Derrick said to her, "Good night, Mom."
