106| Son's refusal

Miranda gazed back at Derrick's face and told him, "Nothing. There's nothing you can do to win me back. You should move on. Oliver will always be your son, just as he is mine."

Derrick gazed into Miranda's eyes, not wanting to believe her words. He didn’t respond as he turned and walked away from her, knowing that she disliked him so much. It wasn't his fault either; he had tried to talk to her before, but she had been adamant about not listening to him or coming back.

Instead, she blocked him.

"Master Derrick, where are you going? Please wake Oliver up; we have to go back home now," Miranda said, and Derrick paused at the entrance of his bedroom.

"I'm not waking him up. Let him rest; he's in his father's house."

With that, Derrick walked into his room, and Miranda stood there speechless. She didn’t want to enter Derrick's bedroom, as the mansion—and even the sitting room where she stood—held so many memories, and she was fighting back the urge to burst into tears.
