My hands wrapped around my knees, my head placed in between my thighs as my teeth shook from the cold.

I was falling asleep… almost, until I heard a knock from the cave’s gate. The guards guarding it never knock or take permission.

They would barge in and throw me out instead so hearing a knock wasn’t only foreign and suspicious but also had my head jerking toward the direction of the metal gate.

“Hey… it’s me.”

That voice. It sounds so much like Bryson’s.

My heart skipped a beat as I scrambled to my feet, my numb fingers fumbling with the thin blanket- I don't know what made them change their mind but I was given yesterday- wrapped around me.

That voice... it sent shivers down my spine. I approached cautiously, my eyes fixed on the silhouette.

"Who's 'me'?" I called out, trying to sound firm despite the tremble in my voice. I'm scared, scared to the bone especially since I'm certain it's no one of the guards...

The figure stepped forward and shifted back.

"Bryson?" I
