Chapter seventy-three

Daniel’s POV

I crushed a couple of twigs underneath my boot as I walked. I breathed in the fresh air, placing my pipe in my mouth as I walked deeper into the woods.

My eyes almost rolled into the back of my head when I took a drag from the pipe. I had missed the musky smell and taste, especially when taken periodically it seemed to heighten the headiness.

Caleb didn't know I smoked, just like he didn't know a lot of things about me and I preferred it to remain that way.

Tristan's body was probably halfway to the Atlantic now after I'd dumped it into the ocean that night, and no one was none the wiser about his disappearance.

To spare his poor parents the torture of wondering where their kid was, I had typed out a note since his handwriting was hard to copy and pasted it on his desk.

I cleared out most of his clothes and burnt them as well as other treasured items to seal the belief that he left of his own volition.

It was quite sad though and I didn't like what I did to that poor kid,
