“…Of course I am.” “Good. You should be.” She leaned in, eyes fierce. “Because I’m not even the one in your shoes, and I want to burn them both to the ground.” I sat back, silent. She softened slightly but didn’t let up. “Look, I get it. You’re scared. But this is Rio. Someone who’s been by your side for three years. And now you know he’s not just your bodyguard—he’s Nikolai freaking Dorne. Billionaire, boss man, sexy-as-hell Italian dreamboat.”

He was tall, muscular and nicely fit. "There you are" Dominic said and the young man nodded. "Adelynn, meet Gunner. He's your new bodyguard. I know he's not always going to be around you because Jensen will find it suspicious. But, he's always going to be close by, enough to keep you out of trouble when I'm not there" Dominic said and Adelynn nodded. "Okay. I'll see you later" she said and he nodded tiredly. His eyelids fluttered close and she turned to look at Gunner who took off his glasses. She approached him and he extended a hand.

ADRIAN "Let's go, Chase. I'm ready to go now. Why are we just standing around?" Meghan grabbed Chase's hand and urged him to get in the car. I looked at the big man who was glaring at me. "Who's your new friend?" "This is Bronson, my bodyguard," Chase said without blinking. A bodyguard? Is this guy serious? "What do you need a bodyguard for? Can't protect Maggie by yourself?" I said in a mocking tone.

I burst into laughter, I stopped when I heard Andre's phone beep, he looked at his phone and his expression changed. Andre passed me his phone, I took it from him and it was a message from the headquarters, "You have been offered a job to be Jaylen Noire Adryan's bodyguard and to protect Kylie while under Jaylen's roof, you have to start this night." I passed him his phone, "I guess you have to act too," I smirked as I drank from my wine. "Do you really need protection? you are the face of our industry," Andre drank from his wine.

But something about Damon had broken his rhythm. Maybe it was the way Damon had leaned toward his mother when Luca lined up the shot. Maybe it was how human he looked. Adrian’s voice echoed in Luca’s earpiece. “You’re being inserted as close protection. Full access. Finish it clean this time.” Luca didn’t respond. He already knew the consequences of silence. Damon met his new bodyguard in the elevator. The man was tall and broad-shouldered, dressed in a plain black suit that didn’t quite conceal the lethal grace beneath it. Dark hair fell carelessly over sharp gray eyes. A thin scar traced his jawline.

Pain and surprise flashed over him, but the second man’s grin only widened. “You’ve got spirit,” he said. “I like that.” Before they could close in, a shadow fell across the floor. They both froze, color draining from their faces. “I thought you were dead,” one whispered. “I am not easy to kill,” a low, calm voice said. I looked up and froze. It was Adrian, Vale’s personal bodyguard. His presence was like steel, a wall that had appeared just when I needed it. He stepped forward, placing himself squarely between me and the men.

A thousand times damn! “Get down, Mr. Adrian!” shouted the driver, who was also acting as my bodyguard. He was armed and at this point was already aiming at the two criminals with the barrel of his pistol. However, I was unarmed and was not going to stand there waiting to see which of the shooters would get the better of me, especially since the target was my head.

Adrian kept staring intently into his childish eyes and his heart bubbled with excitement. He vowed to himself that night to protect Caleb and his mother with everything he had. The next morning, Adrian and Rissa left for work but Caleb had to skip school for the day. He remained with Mandy in one of the hotel rooms while they checked out of the other two. Two of Adrian's bodyguards were stationed outside their hotel room and Mandy was bought another phone “So good to be rich”, Mandy said playfully as one of the bodyguards handed the package to her that morning.

“Look at me.” I lift my chin but don’t soften. “You think he’s better than me?” Adrian asks quietly. “Is that what this is?” “I never said that.” “You didn’t have to.” He laughs under his breath, sounding bitter. “So you’re running from one powerful man to another. Trading ranks now?” My jaw tightens. “Move.” “You even have his bodyguards following you,” he adds, as if that proves something. “You think I didn’t see him?” Bodyguards. What is he talking about? Did someone follow me here?

“You’re sick.” Adrian smiled sadly. “No. I’m devoted. When I worked at Apex Veil, I saw how lonely you were. All that power, all that control, and no one who truly understood the weight you carried. I tried to get closer. I submitted proposals to improve your personal security. They called me unstable and fired me.” His expression darkened for a moment. “But I never stopped watching. I learned everything about you. Your four-hour sleep schedule. The way you prefer black coffee. How you touch your throat when you’re anxious. How you leave things Kane touches untouched for days.”
