Chapter one

Margot's POV I woke up with a slight groan. My head was killing me. I pressed my palm to my throbbing temples, hoping that would ease the pain and help with nausea. The room was dark, but I could swear it was spinning. This night out was a bad idea. I should have never agreed to that. Unfortunately, it was impossible to say 'no' to Nicole, my best friend. She could be very persistent when she wanted. ‘ Focus your eyes on something familiar’, I have instructed myself, trying to return to reality. I blinked my eyes a few times since my vision was blurry. Slowly, furniture shapes became clearer, and panic rose in my chest. Nothing looked familiar here. I was in a room I had never seen before. ‘ Don't panic. There has to be an explanation,’ I thought, but then I realised how outdated this advice was since my heart was already thundering in my chest. I took a deep breath to calm down. I have checked myself. My body was naked, but there were no ropes or tapes. That was a good s

Chapter two

Margot's POV “ Hello.” Nicole's sleepy voice indicated that my friend was finally done partying. “ Where are you?” I snapped at her as the rage rose in my chest. My tone was harsh, filled with disappointment. “ At home. Where else could I be at this time? What is your problem?” Nicole asked angrily. “ What is my problem? You left me alone!” My voice raised, and I had to remind myself I was in the taxi. This night out was Nicole's idea. She was the one nagging me to join her. This type of entertainment is not my cup of tea. “ I did not. You left with some guy.” Nicole yawned loudly. “ We had a deal. We will go out together and be back together.” I reminded her of our agreement. That was my only condition before I agreed to this idea.“ I am not your babysitter,” Nicole replied coldly. “ You are a grown-up woman. I don't have to hold your hand all the time.” Those words took me aback. Nicole was usually friendly and bubbly, not distant like this. I may have pushed it too far.

Chapter three

Third-party POV.I glanced at the phone for the hundredth time, tapping my fingers on my desk. It had been hours, and there was no sign from her - no call, no text, nothing. What was taking so long? I have spent a sleepless night waiting for a message, and for what? My phone's screen was black as death and equally deadly silent. What the hell was she doing? I hit my desk with a fury. It was a reasonably simple task. I checked the phone, hoping that there would be anything I had accidentally missed, but the screen was empty.‘ Enough!’ I thought to myself, dialling the number. “ Hello,” I heard on the other side of the line. “ Hello,” I replied coldly, " Am I not interrupting you? Have you been busy with something?"“ Oh, hi. I was just going to call you after the shower.” “ Did you?” Now, my tone was cold as ice. I had no time for stupid games and even less time for silly excuses. “ Yes, I just wanted to refresh myself after the night.” Her voice sounded weak, and I rolled my ey

Chapter four

Margot’s POVI carefully entered my fiancee’s office with my eyes glued to Vikki’s face. She was smiling gently, but I knew her well enough to know it was the smile of a viper right before she would bite. “ You look tired, dear. Tough night?” Vikki asked in a saccharine tone. “ That is nothing that should concern you,” I replied coldly, coming closer to Sam and kissing his cheek. “ What brings you here? Shouldn’t you be on some tropical island, spending your daddy’s money?” Vikki laughed and threw her hair behind her shoulder-her signature gesture. “ I just came back from Marocco. It was awesome. You should try it sometimes.” I forced my lips to curl in something that could be taken for a smile. “ I would love to, but some people have to work, not that you know anything about that.” Vikki’s smile dropped, and I knew that I hit the nerve. Even in my current situation, that gave me satisfaction. Her eyes narrowed, making her look ten years older“ I do work,” she hissed, and I noti

Chapter five

Nathan’s POV“ I can’t believe you did that,” Lucy shook her head, and disappointment flashed in her eyes. “ I screwed this up. You don’t have to look at me with those little judgy eyes. I panicked, okay?” I said, annoyed by her expression. “ Oh, sorry. Let me fix it. I will clap my hands, admiring how you handled it.” She took a step back and did as she said. “ Cut it out,” I almost growled at my best friend. Lucy and I have known each other since we were kids. We support each other when needed and point out mistakes when needed. There is only one little flaw in this friendship. Lucy has no filter regarding being honest, especially regarding me. “ I am sorry. Am I hurting your feelings? Too bad, because I do not care. Not after something like this.” She glanced at me, and I exhaled, already regretting this conversation. Lucy has been roasting me since I told her about last night. “ I think I need to listen to this story one more time.” “ No, thank you,” I replied, pressing my p

Chapter six

Third-party POV I leaned back in my chair, massaging tense muscles on my neck. Nothing was going as I had planned. From the very start, this day was an utter disaster. I groaned in pain as the stress was overwhelming. So much planning could be destroyed. I could not let this happen. Someone knocked at my office door. “ Not now, “ I said in a cold voice. Whoever it was could wait. I had enough of unpleasant visits for one day. Another knock, someone was persistent. “It is better important, or I will kill this motherfu*ker,” I mumbled to myself, yanking the door knob. “ What?” I barked. My assistant stepped back; her face became pale, and she trembled. “ I am sorry, boss. There is someone to see you,” she barely whispered, darting her eyes to the floor. Great! “ I am busy. Send this person away,” I replied, “and look at me when I am talking to you.” She raised her face, and I noticed tears in her eyes. Now, she probably ran to the bathroom. “ I told them you are busy
