Leonardo's POV.Two days ago, the Don of my gang made an announcement. An announcement that ignited a challenging race for the throne of the Mafia. A race between my cousin and I.I didn't know why he made the announcement. It had already been decided…or not decided publicly, but it was a known fact that I, the sottocapo to the Don would ascend to the position of Don after his retirement in three months.Now the rules have changed. Luca, my lousy cousin, the Don’s son, was in the picture. And he was now contending against me for the position of Don. We both had one thing to achieve to determine the future leader. We both had to get married and stay married until the Don’s retirement.Few minutes ago, one of my men informed me that Luca had gotten a wife but was yet to present her to the Don. Lexi's POV.My jaw dropped as he glared at me. As I stared, wide eyed, back, there was no denying the raw hatred in his eyes.“This wedding is a fake!” Luca yelled out. “Father, this cannot be accepted…you!” He faced me once again, pointing his finger hard at me with disdain.Then he dashed forward towards me. My heart raced and I gasped while tripping backward.Before he could reach me, some men jumped out of nowhere to block his path, denying him access to me.A collective gasp resounded from the onlookers.“This is a plot against me! I won't accept this!” Luca continued to yell even whilst struggling with the men.My heart was still racing and my eyes darted around. What would I do if he spilled the beans? Lexi's POVAs I stared at him openly, he made no move to cover up. I continued to stare blankly at his magnificent form. He had a lean body but was packed with muscles at the right place. His Adonis belt was looking so hot, I could not believe what I was seeing.His sudden clearing of his throat made me shake my head vigorously. I looked up at him before turning around.“I'm sorry!” I squealed on the spot. I did not hear a response but I heard movement.Why was he even here? I thought the old man said he was not home yet?“Is this how you wander around in people's houses?” I heard his thick voice ask.I shook my head, “I…was…just um…I wanted to…” I paused and swallowed a small lump.“Can't find the words?” He asked.“I'm sorry. I just really needed to speak with you but the old man said you were not home so I decided to pass the time to…”“It's okay.” He cut through my ranting. Lexi's POV.As the call ended, it felt as though my heartbeat stopped with it. My phone slipped from my hand and crashed onto the floor. I remained rooted on the spot, Luca's words echoing in my mind like a freaking haunting shadow.My mom. My dad. That bastard was going to kill them both if I didn't show up.I stumbled backwards, still reeling from shock, indecision and fear.I had to pay him his money as fast as possible, but I had nothing on me. I was yet to receive my payment from Leonardo. But I could not just leave my parents to die.As soon as I gained back an ounce of my sanity, I turned around and fled the club.Twenty minutes! That's all I had. I cannot be an orphan. Not by the hands of that lunatic of a man.My feet smacked on the floor in accordance with my heartbeat, carrying me as fast as they could. Thank God the pain I was feeling under was gone.I was panting, not from tiredness, but from the adrenaline coursing through my veins.“Ma'am, what's wrong?” A strange voice
