~Hayden’s POV~My body ACHED.Everything that Vincenzo had done to me last night lingered in the back of my mind like a dark nightmare that was difficult to wake up from. Why had I not fought him? I decided not to think too much about that either and turned on the tap to wash my face. The water was warm and comfortable. By the time I finished washing my face however, the door suddenly opened and startled me from my meditative state.“Hayden.”My lips fell open as I stared at Vincenzo’s reflection through the bathroom mirror. He had come after me. Why?I had little space for my own thoughts and agency in Vincenzo’s world. But even with him owning me, I knew that he definitely saw other men and women. And I was aware of every excruciating second that the flight attendant spent flirting with him.Call it jealousy or frustration. But I had left to give them both some space. So what on earth did this mean? The bathroom was barely big enough for one person, yet somehow, with Vincenzo standi

~Hayden's POV~The morning light streamed through the large floor-to-ceiling windows of the bedroom, bathing the room in soft golden hues. I woke up in the luxurious bed, the satin sheets tangled around my legs, my head resting on the plush pillow, and for a moment, I felt like I was in a dream. Despite it being a prison I could admit the room was lavish, more than even the luxury hotel suite had been in Paris.I lay still for a few moments, taking in the beauty of it all, letting the calmness of the morning sink in. It was hard to shake the feeling that this wasn’t my life. Usually my day started with tense moments that painted the rest of my day as so. But Vincenzo had somehow spared me from that fate today. I laid in bed a few more minutes before slowly sitting up.What was Vincenzo up to?I decided it would be best for me to find out for myself. After a quick shower and outfit change, I rubbed the towel over my damp hair to dry it a little before I tossed it in the laundry hamper.

Hayden POV~The night outside was thick with humid heat as Vincenzo’s sleek black car glided through neon-lit streets. I sat in the passenger seat, my heart still pounding in my ears, every flash of streetlight a reminder of the chaos we’d just left behind at the club. Vincenzo, cool as ever, drove with unwavering focus. His eyes were fixed ahead, not betraying even a flicker of emotion, while I struggled to process the wild events that had unfolded only hours before.Silence filled the car, heavy and tense. I stole glances at him in the rearview mirror. The club had been a maelstrom of lust, danger, and indulgence—a stark contrast to the controlled storm brewing inside Vincenzo. Yet here he was, calm and unflappable, lighting a cigarette with a deliberate precision that both calmed and unnerved me. As the smoke curled around his chiseled face, I felt a mixture of longing and dread. His ability to remain so composed amid chaos was one of the things that both drew me to him and terrifi

~Vincenzo's POV~It was past 9 in the morning and the house was still. The sun streamed through my living room towering windows, casting golden streaks across the marble floors. I stood near the glass, sipping my morning espresso, my mind a battlefield of thoughts. The night before had been wild—reckless, even. But the chaos, the indulgence, the violence, they were all part of who he was. And Hayden? Hayden had witnessed it all.Hayden’s presence made itself known to me at the back of my mind. I could hear the gentle tap of his footsteps as he moved down the stairs. I didn’t turn. I didn’t have to. I could feel Hayden’s gaze on his back—conflicted, unsure, but still present.“Good morning Master.”I took another sip of my espresso, my expression impassive.“Come.”My orders were obeyed by him instantly and I smirked inwardly at how easy it was becoming to train him. Once he was fully broke in he wouldn’t be able to lift a finger without asking me for permission. He wouldn’t breathe wi

~Vincenzo's POV~Four hours ago:I walked into the dimly lit hotel suite, the glow from the warm lighting illuminating the way as footsteps resounded through the room.“Don Vincenzo. I’m glad you could take time out of your busy day to see me. Not that I had a choice,” the gravelly voice always was a shock to people. Lucas Everton was a young man and barely at 25, he had a genetic condition that caused his vocal cord to require surgery. Even with the reconstructive surgery and learning to speak again things were never going to be the same with him.Lucas appeared from the bathroom wearing a t-shirt and dress pants. His hair appeared damp. Though he had pretty features he wasn’t my type. Perhaps it was the voice. There was a time people thought we were fucking. But it never happened.“The council never contacts me unless it is necessary. They hate me even more than they hate dealing with you,” he spoke as he bowed. I took my place on the armchair while he pulled a bottle of whiskey fro

~Hayden’s POV~The weight of his gaze rested heavily against my skin as I stood trying to control my breathing at the sound of his words. “I’m not up to anything Master,” I shifted. I had managed to hide my jacket, the jams and pastries and even my boots with dusty soles. All were in the closet at the furthest corner I could shove them in. Basically anything that could betray my position and activities to Vincenzo was hidden.“Your phone. Where is it?” He asked so suddenly that I thought he had misspoke. Feeling my heart pounding through my ribcage I swallowed and pulled it out of my pocket to hand it to him.“Unlock it.”His eyes pierced through mine as I took the phone back to do just that and he snatched it away before I could do anything else. I waited with bated breath.Vincenzo wasn’t going to find anything. Not about Laura or Max. Or any of the notes I’d taken on him. I knew that. Because I’d taken precautions to hide it using the most powerful encrypted apps that money could

~Vincenzo’s POV~The weight of the night pressed heavily against my skin as I stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows of the foyer, staring out into the darkness. Streetlights lights flickered in the distance, painting the skyline with streaks of blue and white. The view was breathtaking, but I wasn’t paying attention to it. Not really. Behind me, Hayden was sprawled across the couch, one leg tucked under him, idly flipping through a book he had picked up from the library. He was pretending to read, but I could feel his gaze drifting to me every few minutes. He was getting used to the way my moods shifted—when I was distant, when I was brooding, when something was about to set me off. It was a day after I’d spoken to Lucas and yet my mind refused to settle.I took a slow sip of whiskey, letting the burn chase away the irritation curling at the edges of my mind. It was rare to have nights like this—peaceful, uninterrupted. No business, no blood, no council breathing down my neck. T

~Hayden’s POV~The house was in a different mood now.A few hours had passed since the supposed council meeting. It was daytime now, just early in the morning and the tension in the air hadn’t yet lifted.I sighed to myself as I busied myself with doing nothing really. I had been left to my own devices for once. I had to find out that Vincenzo would be heading to Italy through Alphonso who was handling the move with expert ease. Which meant that I’d likely be going with him.It didn’t change my plans. But it did make things difficult. Or rather, unpredictable.Vincenzo had been quiet since, locked away in his study, making calls, going over plans I couldn’t tell exactly what they were. I could feel his restlessness, but he wasn’t letting it show. Not directly, anyway. I sat on a couch in the never used theater room, flicking through the channels on the TV, but I couldn’t really focus on anything. My mind kept wandering, the echoes of the night lingering in my thoughts. What Vincenz
