ELEANOR I sat at the small wooden table, my eyes fixed on Shane as he walked into the room. He had a look of determination on his face, but as he caught my eye, a small smile played on his lips."What is it?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.Shane took a deep breath before speaking. "I met with Max," he said, his voice low.My heart skipped a beat as I felt a rush of excitement. "Is she okay?"
