Chapter 5 – ForkedI opened my eyes and realized it was well after sunrise. I tried to move but my body was screaming in protest from the beating I received last night. My head was throbbing as I pulled myself up to the sitting position. My left eye felt swollen and slightly shut. I lifted my hand to my face and felt crusted over dried blood as it flaked off. Chapter 13 – StrollIt’s been two months since I escaped, and with each passing week I feel stronger and stronger. I was off work every Sunday and Monday, but gladly worked extra if things got busy downstairs at the restaurant.
