Chapter 51 - Mason

With a racing heart, I placed my hands upon Gianna’s hips, unable to tear my gaze from hers, pulling her closer to me. This was not a situation I had expected to find myself in when I had gone to meet Jaxon earlier… but it was sure as hell not a position I was going to complain about either… Gianna’s gaze lowered slightly, almost nervously, before she took me by surprise as she hooked her legs around my waist. Maybe she did want this as much as I did…With a trembling hand she ran her fingers across my cheek, and I felt my body shiver under the touch of her fingertips. If such a small contact had such an effect, I could only imagine what we could be like if we allowed ourselves to fully surrender to one another. I am out of practice, and I am unsure I have ever wanted someone as much as I wanted Gianna, so I could only hope I wasn't a disappointment to her.Once again Gianna’s gaze was back upon mine, her eyes were filled with uncertainty, but this time there was desire there too… a d

Chapter 52 - Gianna

The moment Mason had touched me as he stopped me falling, I knew I was in trouble. My whole body seemed to surrender to his touch. I don’t think I had realized just how much I had wanted this guy… and his touch… wow… he was making my whole body feel like it was on fire under his fingers… and I don’t think I wanted him to stop, despite knowing it was far from the best idea… we were not a good match... he was an Alpha of a werewolf pack... I was trying to escape... but he was so handsome, and his touch drove me wild...The hunger in his eyes as I slipped off my tank top, and he took in my now half naked body, filled me with a deeper desire than ever… I wanted him… no, I think I needed him… and feeling his hard cock straining against the fabric of his pants touching the fabric of my shorts, dangerously close to my ever increasingly wet pussy was telling me he may need me too. Maybe things had been building up to this moment. I could not wait to discover what this man could do if the slig

Chapter 53 - Mason

I had been so close to allowing myself to try to mark her. I wanted this girl to be mine. I know that I barely knew her, but there was simply something about her that called to me. Regardless of the fact there was no actual matebond, it was like she was sent into my life for a reason. She filled a hole within my soul... a sense I cannot understand nor explain, but it is there, and has been since I met her. I had not been able to shake that sense. And when I finally had her within my arms... kissing her... hearing her moan my name... I wanted to put my mark upon her... and, I think I likely would have done, if Echo had not so bluntly given me a warning to wake up to the reality that it was not the right time. And him so coldly telling me that it was likely not what Gianna wanted, then I would have messed things up and tried to mark her. I was so lost in wanting her I had lost my mind…It was one of the few times my wolf and I had been on different pages with our thoughts. Hell, I don’

Chapter 54 - Gianna

Mason sat alongside me on the sofa. I could see the concern in his gaze. I had no clue why this guy had taken a liking to me, nor why he seemed to care so damn much. I was a virtual stranger to him, but his caring was tying my stomach into knots. I didn't know whether to be touched by it or nervous about it. I knew he wanted to help me, and that was sweet, but his help came with complications I was certainly not ready for. And the moment Mason mentioned the werewolf council my heart began to race, and not for the good reasons it had been previously. The things Dalton was involved in were far from legal, in either the human world or our own. But me knowing of his crimes, didn’t that make me as guilty as him? I had always been terrified that while living with him, he could be caught, and my knowledge of his crimes would be discovered, and he would drag me down with him. It didn't help that he had always threatened to create scenarios where I was more involved than I ever had been, makin

Chapter 55 - Mason

I left Gianna’s place with my head in a mess. The guilt I had felt from almost marking her had long gone. My focus had shifted to protecting her. I needed to convince her now to come to my pack. She needed to leave that job in the bar. It was as simple as that. There would be no need for her to work there if she came into the pack…I saw the look in her eyes the moment her friend described that guy. I needed no more information. Her ex had now found her workplace. She would never be safe there again. I could send my own guys there to protect her, but realistically, what owner of a bar was going to stand for that? Gianna had already got into trouble because of the connection with me.I pulled my phone from my pocket as I reached my car. I knew it was late, but I hoped my friends wouldn’t mind. I first called Levi. And his phone rang for some time, until his mate, Jasmine, sleepily answered. “Hello?” she spoke, her voice a little hoarse.“Hey Jas, it is Mase.” I said. “I am really sorr

Chapter 56 - Gianna

Sleep had barely been possible once Mason had left. Frankie had wanted details about who he was, and how I knew him. She was telling me I should make the time to see him whether it got me in trouble with Rhett or not. Obviously, none of my friends at the bar cared about the rules. Not that the rules were going to matter much now. I had to make the choice to leave. My time dancing there was at an end. I had no choice now. I knew that. If Dalton knew I was working there, then there would be nothing to stop him visiting regularly. Even if he was barred, he could send in one of his associates to spy on me. I wasn’t stupid. He was determined to have me back and would do all he could to get me back, and that would include stalking me at my workplace if needed.Long after Frankie had gone to bed, I had rushed around the apartment gathering my things together. I would get up tomorrow as if I planned to work, pop in to see Rhett to explain my need to leave urgently, without explaining the were

Chapter 57 - Mason

Having spent most of my night trying desperately to come up with ways to help Gianna, I had very little sleep. As did my friends. I felt like death. But, in reality, despite that sacrifice, we were no closer to an answer. In order for us to be able to help Gianna, we needed her to accept our help first, and from what all of us had seen she seemed reluctant to do so. We had all agreed that Gianna seemed to be fighting any source of help from us and our pack... from any pack... she appeared to want to go this alone.I truly do not think she was willing to come back to a werewolf community, and I think that was all down to the history between her ex and her. Whatever that man had done to Gianna had scarred her. And whether she would share it with us or not, we had to assume that the things he did were bad, and that he likely hadn't done with her yet. This was why it was so vital we dealt with him, whether Gianna wanted us to or not.Jaxon had sent out some of our warriors to look for thi

Chapter 58 - Mason

Today was definitely not going the way I had wanted. Storming out of the police station having dealt with Jaxon’s arrest, he was on my tail with nothing but apologies.“Mase, what did you want me to do? He was right there.” He was talking about Dalton. It turned out he had been arrested for trying to knock the fucker out. The thing was, there happened to be an undercover police officer across the road at the time who had intervened when things had become increasingly violent and had decided to arrest the two of them. Far from ideal for two werewolves in a human world. Dalton I couldn't give a damn about, but I was not going to leave Jaxon rotting in a police cell for longer than was necessary.Especially when his actions were in a bid to try to help me... well, help Gianna, which in turn was Jaxon's attempt to help me. And, in doing so, it now meant that Dalton was locked up, albeit for a short time. But, I suppose if nothing else I knew, it meant that Dalton was locked up and not out

Chapter 59 - Gianna

I had spoken to Rhett, who was surprisingly understanding, especially, having explained my situation with Dalton. He sorted out my wages, and soon I was walking out of the door, with trembling legs, knowing that it would be the last time I was to be leaving that bar. I had said my goodbyes to the girls that had become my friends, and I won't lie, that had hurt more than I had expected. But, I knew that this was what I needed to do for my own safety. My own sanity. Staying here would forever mean looking behind me. I could not live like that anymore...This was my chance to get a completely fresh start. Now I was able to make my escape from the hell that my life had become. Escape from my former mate and the cruelty he seemed determined to reign down upon me. First I needed to grab a few things from the town, and I wanted to get a couple of gifts for my friends too, which I planned to leave at my apartment with Frankie. So, I quickly walked from shop to shop, so acutely aware of every

Chapter 60 - Mason

I had been in two minds to tell Gianna that news, but the moment Jaxon had told me, I knew that would be one of the things that could make Gianna question all her plans. She needed to question her plans. That was what I needed her to do. That fucker had been monitoring Gianna, and he knew her plans. The plans she had tried so carefully to make safe… the plans she believed would be the thing to save her… that had to be his reasoning for having the fake passport. That was the only reason I had come up with in my mind. I was worried about Gianna. Absolutely petrified for her, so she had to be in pieces with worry.I hated to be the one to bring her world crashing down, but in truth, Dalton knew her plans, and going off the fake passport he was carrying when Jaxon assaulted him, he had planned to follow her too, with very little trace. The thought sickened me. And going off the look upon Gianna’s face, not only did the thought truly sicken her, but it terrified her too. Understandably so.
