Ethan and Selene stood frozen, gazing at the threshold section covered up by the rubble. The fortress kept on collapsing around them, the ground trembling underneath their feet as stone and ice disintegrated from over. Time was running out, and the cold was tenacious, clawing at their skin like a living thing.“We got to go,” Ethan encouraged, his voice tight with direness. He knew the dangers, but they had no other choice. Ethan's world was a chaotic obscure of shadows and torment as he fell through the collapsing earth. He listened to the cries of Selene and Lena from afar off, but they were suffocated out by the thunder of the chasm that had opened underneath them. His intellect dashed, attempting to understand the sheer scale of what was happening. They plunged into a void, the obscurity around them thick and impervious.
