Chapter 91

Demetria’s body ached from traveling through the portal, and though Kerry tried his best to keep his weight off her, she felt it. But as badly as her muscles screamed from being sore, she couldn't have cared any less at that moment. She'd longed to be touched by him in this realm. She told herself that if she made it back, she would put her entire heart into this relationship with Kerry. He'd gone through Hell to save her, and she planned to prove to him she was worth it.Kerry's mouth traveled down her neck, leaving hot kisses against her skin, driving her eyes back into her head, and lighting her on fire. Even with Kitty staring at them from the counter like a creep. None of it mattered but Kerry. He stalled against her neck, and she felt his heartbeat racing against his chest. The tips of his canines pressed against the pulsation of her vein."Everything okay?" she whispered. He nodded. "Everything is perfect."But she didn't believe him. She pushed him into a sitting position and

She looked perfect. Lying on her back, the sheets wrapped around her waist, Kerry's mark displayed on her neck. They'd spent the better part of twelve hours breaking in his bed, and their new mate bond. When he left the room, his wolf cried out in pain on leaving his mate. It was his wolf's deep-seated fear of losing their second mate, even though Kerry reassured him that he would do anything to save Demetria.Kerry walked into the kitchen the next morning, starting a pot of coffee for Demetria when she woke up, and then walked outside on the front porch. He half expected to see the evil twins standing in the yard, ready for a fight. The silence settled like nails on a chalkboard. Something wasn't right about it all.It was quiet before the storm, he was sure of it. "Busy night?"Kerry jumped backward, stumbling against the doorway. "Crap on a cracker, Cynthia. I'm a wolf, it's supposed to be impossible to sneak up on me, yet, here you are," he said, settling back against the railing.

Chapter 93

Demetria sat on the front porch with Sabrina's diary resting on her lap, while Kerry went on his morning perimeter run with some of the pack members. She'd spent thirty minutes staring at herself in the bathroom mirror, after everyone left that morning, loving the look of his mark on her skin. She never imagined a mark would make her feel so fulfilled, and whole. Boy, how she'd been wrong.Jane’s silhouette came running down the small trail connecting Kerry's house to the pack house. She was giddy, and Demetria was not only happy to see her, but happy that she was happy. She went to reach down and grab her mug, but realized she needed to use her other hand. It would take her time to get used to not having a finger.Jane stopped in front of her and tossed herarms around Demetria. "I'm so happy you're back."She chuckled and palmed the back of Jane’s head. "Sweetie, I've been back."Janepulled away, her pretty blue eyes vibrant. "I know, but you're here with Kerry. On pack grounds. I'm

Chapter 94

"What's it like to have your mark on a woman again?" Alpha Davis asked.Kerry smiled, while stripping out of his clothes. It was different having a mark on Demetria and him not having hers on him. His last mate was a she wolf, and she marked him also. He smirked at the thought of letting Demetria bite him, or better yet, pick out a tattoo for him.Something that would tell everyone he was hers. It was only fair, since his mark littered her neck; it looked beautiful against her porcelain skin, the tips of her blond hair vaguely hiding it when she wore it down. But Kerry noticed how she wore her hair back, showcasing the mark as if she was excited, which made him all the more proud. "Yoo-hoo," Alex said, elbowing Kerry. "Dad asked you a question. You zoned out over there."Kerry glanced between the two wolves. "My bad. It feels amazing to have her here, and to know she's mine. It took long enough."Alpha Davis chuckled and took off his shirt. "Have you talked to her about pups?"Alex

Chapter 95

Jane’s brows pulled down in the middle of her forehead, and she squinted to see the handwritten entry of the diary. Demetria stood in the kitchen getting lunch ready for Kerry whenever he made it back. She flipped a burger on the small indoor grill and watched Jane from the kitchen bar. "Anything interesting?" she asked.Jane put the diary down. "Sabrina is starting to get paranoid. She feels like someone is following her. She cast a protection spell but she doesn't think it's working."Demetria gnawed on her bottom lip. She'd felt followed for a long time before Jack showed up, but Jack wouldn't follow Sabrina. He loved her. He didn't have a reason to follow her.Demetria drained the grease off Kerry's burger and put it on a bun. "How many more entries?"Jack sighed and shut the book. "A lot. This girl needed a life, and I needed a break. Does Kerry have anything to drink?"Demetria gestured toward the fridge. "Some bottles of water."Jack walked over and grabbed one before leaning

Chapter 96

Demetria stepped into the passenger side of Kerry's truck wearing a summer dress that killed him. His wolf wanted to drag her back into the house, and never leave. But they needed to be away from prying ears. They needed a place to talk, and frankly, Kerry needed to take Demetria away from the pack house. The full-moon was coming, the professor was potentially creeping around the perimeter, but it made Kerry want to take her away even more. It made Kerry want to spend a normal day with her, to show her it wouldn't always be like this. They would find their peace, and be together one day without doom and gloom hanging over them.Kerry started the truck, and made it well onto the highway when Demetria laughed. He glanced over at her beaming face."Something funny?"She shook her head. "I'm so glad to be away from there. It feels like three thousand pounds lifted from my shoulders when we left. It's one thing after the other-,"Kerry reached over and palmed her thigh. "I know. Come over

Chapter 97

Demetria stared at Kerry with big eyes as those words slipped from his lips. It felt like a lifetime ago that she believed anyone had last said them to her. Her ex said them, but she never felt like he meant them. She knew she didn't love him like she was meant to love someone, that true love was a farfetched fantasy, but she knew, staring down into Kerry's eyes, that it was different with him, that the pull she had toward him was indeed the mating bond that the highest power blessed them with. She bent down, one arm on either side of him, and smiled. "I love you, too."The tattoo artist smirked, a little curious about her choice in artwork, but left them in the stall by themselves. "You don't have to say it," he whispered, rubbing his knuckles against her collarbone. "You don't have to say it unless you mean it. I know this has been fast," he said, tucking a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear. "It's been a whirlwind of drama." He chuckled, a small dimple denting his cheek."I

Chapter 98

The professor lying across Kerry and Demetria's lap stirred when he turned into the pack house's driveway. Demetria looked unbothered that a random stranger was riding with them, and in all honesty, she looked giddy. Maybe it was the night out, or the new tattoo on Kerry's neck, but either way, he would take it. The night seemed to lessen the stress she'd been under, and Kerry knew it was worth every minute away from the pack.Several wolves trained outside of the pack house when he parked and pulled the professor out and onto the ground."Go get Alpha Davis," he told one of the younger wolves.Demetria slammed her door and walked around, looking observant of everyone around them. She spotted Cynthia amongst a circle of shewolves. Her gaze didn't last long, but Kerry caught the look of irritation on her face. She had that gut feeling that Kerry also had inside. He wasn't one hundred percent sure, and neither was she, or Cynthia would be toast by now."Dude is still out of it," she sai

Chapter 99

Demetria made her way toward Kerry's house with every intention of trying to talk to her cat. She'd never had a reason to try before, and her magic was rusty, but if she planned to save herself she had to try.She knew Cynthia could show up at any time, and in case Kitty had something bad to say about her, she'd asked Kerry to keep her occupied. She assumed he was going over tactics to take down someone with magic, even though they planned to work on it in the morning.Demetria didn't care what he did to keep Cynthia occupied, she just needed a few moments to reach inside Kitty's mind. She walked into the house, and the feeling of being watched settled over her. Perhaps it was the stupid bird that made her feel that way. She walked into Cynthia's room, where the bird was asleep. Demetria didn't want to reach out to it, seeing it was Jack’s and he had enchanted it, but it may be an option if Kitty didn't have anything useful to say.Demetria grabbed the cat food from the cabinet and p

Kerry walked over toward the infirmary the next morning, giving the professor time to chill out before he began his interrogation. One of the pack nurses was checking the bump on his head when he walked through the door. The professor jumped back against the wall, cowering behind the shewolf in fear. "No! Get him away from me! He's the one who did this," he said, pointing toward the bump on his head.Kerry halted in the doorway with a smile on his face. There was a fairly big bump on his face, and it made Kerry chuckle. He had seen much worse on humans. "I come in peace," he said. The nurse gave him a look. "Have a seat, Kerry. You can chat with Mr. No Name here, while I put a bandage on this. He's like a kid, adamant that he needs a bandage."Kerry plopped down in the chair and madeuncomfortable eye contact with him. "I'm not some supernatural human. I need a bandage."Kerry rolled his eyes. Weak human. "Mr. No Name, huh? You think Jane doesn't know your name and we can't find it ou
