CHAPTER 79

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “You thought you would be able to swim back to the shores?” Adam laughed. “With your human self only?” I chewed my tongue as I stood dripping wet on the deck. “Give her a towel, she is freezing and shivering,” Nash shouted. “Oh, she will dry up, it is her fault she jumped in freezing cold water,” Adam shrugged. “Plus, I like the view.” And I looked down and indeed, my entire body was visible through my soaked clothes. “You mother fucker,” Nash growled as he took off his shirt and placed it on me. I buttoned it quickly. “Why?” he whispered but I just shook my head. “Do you know what is happening at the moment back in your home?” Adam asked seriously. I just stared at him with a cursed look. “Your dad is pulling every able soldier to find you. We have left a false trail for you, and if you do not comply, the fake trail will be triggered. Every able body soldier, your parents, every one who is strong enough to fight will leave the house to look for you…” I gaspe

CHAPTER 80

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. A loud snap, a very satisfying crunch, and Adam Whitaker screamed no more… With blood dripping from his snout, Adler stood tall on his broken, dead body and howled to the moon, as if offering the blood to the Goddess. Everywhere, a following howl prevailed, which started from within the ship, where our clan’s wolves were still hunting for rogues, till back to the shore. Me, Jared and Nash sat on our knees in respect for our beloved and protective alpha. Adler looked at all of us, and then transformed. Jared hurried to offer dad some clothes and I finally looked up. “Don’t you dare do that to me again, okay,” dad spoke as he extended his arms to hug me. “Ew, dad,” I commented at his face, which was bloody. “You will get it in my hair!” I screwed my face. Jared and dad laughed and he washed his face. “Now better?” he asked, wiping his chin specifically. “All handsome,” I spoke with pride as I rushed over and hugged him. “This is the second time you h

CHAPTER 81

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. I was staring at Nash with worried look. I tried to reach him in my head, trying to understand what has happened, but nada, I was met only with silence. But then he blurted out. “Are you pregnant?” Nash asked suddenly. Dad and Jared were talking about something, and his question rendered them absolutely quiet. “I am not!” I was shocked and appalled. I mean if he had to ask, he could have asked in private! “You were nauseated, then hurt!” he asked seriously. “And then I jumped in freezing water and swam my ass to great lengths… and then I fought, so what?” I demanded. “I don’t want to –” he swallowed. “Are you pregnant?” he asked again, very seriously. “Nash,” I spoke, trying very hard to control my anger, “I was feigning to allow Faye a glance towards the land… I needed to find a landmark so that these people could find us,” I replied. Nash stared at me for a moment, then nodded and went grim again. “But are you pregnant?” dad asked seriously. “Your

CHAPTER 82

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. I walked up to my room happily, only to find it empty. Of course, I should have known. His scent was not here… and if it were, it was quite feeble, like he has not been here for more than a day, which truly was the case. So I walked back up the stairs, and followed his scent. He was in his old bed room. I knocked and entered. He was lying on the bed, fully dressed in his old, dirty, bloody clothes, and staring at the ceiling. “What are you doing?” I asked as I stood at the door. True to her word, there was not a single thing that belonged to Nash in this room. It was just as barren – i.e. lacking any personal belongings of anyone – as it had done before Nash had moved in. Gosh! Was it only less than a week since this boy, this incredibly beautiful boy came back in my life? It felt like a lifetime ago. “Nothing,” Nash replied without sparing me a glance. “I thought we needed a shower,” I suggested. I deliberately used the word ‘we’ to hint that maybe we could

CHAPTER 83

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “How dare he!” I growled as I ran downstairs to my room and slammed it shut. ‘Now what happened?’ Jared’s voice boomed in my head. ‘Nash!’ I scowled. ‘Sensed as much…’ Jared laughed. ‘He called mom and dad interfering,’ I fumed. And Jared laughed again. ‘Well, if another woman emptied my room and moved my stuff, then well, I will call her interfering too, Jay.’ ‘What do you mean?’ I asked. ‘It is breaching someone’s privacy. How would you think if his dad, and not even mom, emptied your room and shifted your personal belongings!’ ‘It is not like mom did it herself!’ I rolled my eyes. ‘I know it is the thought that counts, but we know how she is, he just doesn’t,’ Jared shrugged. ‘He called me ‘Jayden’,’ I continued complaining. ‘Err, that’s your name, isn’t it?’ Jared asked, now thoroughly confused. And I told him all about him using my name as a signal to express that he didn’t mean whatever he was speaking on behalf of Adam Whitaker. ‘So, n

CHAPTER 84

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. After that insightful chat with my twin brother, I wondered what I should do. Faye was snoozing in my head, just slightly awake to allow communication between packs. I tried to search for Zues but he was still out cold. Sighing, I started to undress and decided to first take a rather cold shower, because that’s what I deserved, I thought. He was asking for a night, to be with himself, because we both went through a terrible ordeal but I did not listen to him. I cried all the while I showered. When I came back I saw a rather large tray laden with food placed on the bed, with a handwritten note on it. ‘Sorry to barge in the room like that… the door was ajar and you guys were in shower, I guess, so I didn’t disturb. Have your dinner and then rest. Let me know if you both need anything, there is much more food from where this tray came from. I will keep my link open for you. Love, Mom.’ My eyes were filled with tears at her gesture. Eating in bed or rooms was st

CHAPTER 85

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “Your mom is very sweet,” Nash started and I nodded. “You will get a massive shock when you meet my parents, okay. Take that as a fair warning, please.” I nodded, and thought, ‘Thanks, mom!’ ‘Anytime darling, now eat and rest, okay!’ ‘Yeah, mom…’ I sighed. ‘And Jay, did you both eat that soup?’ she asked seriously. ‘Yep, tasted a bit funny but we were too damn hungry,’ I smiled. ‘It tasted funny because… well… Dr Serena asked me not to tell you but the soup had an antidote for wolfsbane. She did not know which type of wolfsbane you were injected with but considering Zues is still out cold, she guessed the potency and formulated a dose for you both!’ And I choked. As I coughed, Nash patted my back and asked, “What’s wrong?” I raised my hand to ask for a minute and asked mom, ‘So, it means there is a powerful sedative in it?’ ‘You are still awake so not that powerful, I guess!’ mom shrugged. ‘I will ask her myself,’ I started. ‘Ah… another thing, J

CHAPTER 86

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. Last night! ‘Princess,’ it was Maia who was calling me. I was too stressed and too sleepy but she was under my command and I had to listen to her and answer. ‘Maia, not the right time,’ I yawned. ‘Just need five minutes, please,’ she insisted. ‘I am out of your building,’ she added. ‘Fine,’ I grunted, and I walked downstairs, no, I actually stumbled down the stairs. Security guards, as usual, were manning the door, but Maia was nowhere to be seen. ‘Where are you?’ I asked Maia… ‘To your right,’ she informed and grumbling I walked to the spot where her scent was coming from. Yeah! Yeah! I knew mom asked me to not use my wolfish powers, but hey, I would be asleep for good in like ten minutes! And then Faye can heal in peace. “Why are we here?” I asked, yawning. Though Dr Serena’s potions and sedatives did not knock me out instantly, like they knocked out Nash, they did make me rather incomprehensible. ‘Can we talk through mind link, don’t want anyon

CHAPTER 87

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. Present Day! ‘Now wake up, will you?’ Faye shouted but no matter how hard I tried, how much power she injected in me, I could not wake up. ‘What is the last thing you remember?’ Faye asked me seriously. ‘Having my dinner,’ I replied sombrely. ‘No… I remember you were talking to someone, who was it?’ Faye demanded. ‘I don’t remember,’ I sighed. ‘Focus, Jay,’ Faye insisted, and it came to me, Maia! And suddenly Faye started howling in my head, ‘It was Maia! Maia, that bitch attacked Jay… Maia! Maia! Maia!’ Faye caused so much ruckus in my head that whatever slight consciousness I had gained in some time was lost too. And I fell asleep again. The next time I woke up, I felt very heavy, incredibly so. Like I had been rammed by a truck! ‘Are you awake again?’ asked a very worried Faye. And I merely grunted. ‘She is awake,’ Faye whispered this time. “She is awake,” I heard Nash’s voice out of my head. “Faye says she is awake…” “Then why is she not opening her

CHAPTER 88

JAYDEN’S P.O.V. Shock! Absolute, resolute shock! I could not believe it. I waited someone to laugh at the joke, but no one did! And dad won’t lie like this. He loves me, more than anyone else, well, maybe mom perhaps! “What?” was all I could say. “Nash found you almost dead beside him. He ran down carrying you, and dad brought you to the medical dorm,” Jared informed. “Why I am not dead? Blue wolfsbane is lethal to our kind,” I started. “My theory is because you were already having antidote in your system. Any other day, or if you were poisoned, within a few hours, you would have been dead,” Dr Serena sighed. “Who did it?” I asked. “Maia, who else?” Jared looked confused. “What?” I was shocked. “When did she?” “She laced a flower with it and tricked you to smell it,” Jared continued. “Luckily you took only one whiff, so only bits of it went into your system, but it caused enough damage.” “I remember waking up a while ago…” I recalled. “Your mind woke up because I h
