Chapter 21 The Challenge

Third Person's POV Harris' face jerks left as Brody's fist connects with it. The Alpha quickly drops down low and moves right, before popping up and swinging his fist up and under. Brody's eyes slam shut as Harris's fist slams his mouth closed and cracks his teeth. The wind is knocked out of Brody as Harris' shoulder connects with his stomach when he tackles him. The fight seemed never-ending. Both Harris and Brody were bloodied, bruised, and exhausted. Harris' family clung to every move, their bodies tense and fear consumed them. They silently prayed as hard as they could to the Moon Goddess to give Harris the strength to beat Brody. Harris lost count of how many times his fist connected with Brody's face as he sat on his chest. With his fist pulled back, Harris screamed and let his fist fall limp against Brody's chest. Tears fell from the Alpha's eyes and Brody barely had the strength to breathe. Harris grabbed Brody and shook him. "Stop it! Concede!... I don't want to kill

Chapter 22 Who's Your Leader

Third Person's POV Harris was beyond pissed that these assholes came into his territory and not only hurt his people, they killed a really good friend. As if he wasn't hurting enough from killing his mate 4 months ago, now they had to go and kill Brian's brother. Harris glances toward Brian and Jack when he hears Brian crying. He looks away as fast as he can when he sees Brian cradling his dead brother. Instead of feeling sad, rage courses through the Alpha and he finds himself wanting to slice through each of their throats. Harris looks at the redhead who is struggling in one of his warrior's arms. The bitch glares at him while growling and that only angers Harris more. Harris storms forward and firmly grips her chin, shoving her head back, and forcing the broad to look at him. "How dare you bring your fucking people into my territory an not only injure my men, you killed one too! And then you have the fucking audacity to look at me like that! I don't care if you are a she-wol

Chapter 23 Answers from River

Third Person's POV "He's going to be okay, let's give the doctors the space they need so they can help him," Harris said when the little Omega cried out and reached for the stranger. Harris stepped into the hall and sat down, setting the Omega in the chair next to him. The Omega's head hung and he sniffled as he wiped his eyes. "Earlier you called him Atticus... Is that his name?" Harris asked and the little Omega nodded his head. "Yes." Rivers' voice was soft and sad. He sniffled as he wrapped his arms around himself. "Is he your Alpha?" "Yes." Harris looked forward as he let out a breath. "What were you guys doing here?" "Trying to get away from the bad people and make it to the river." "So you guys weren't trying to attack us?" Harris asked and the little Omega shook his head. "No! Why would we do that? We are just trying to find a safe place so the bad people can't get us. The river looks safe, that's where we were going." Harris let out a breath as he ran his hands

Chapter 24 Protective Beta

Third Person's POV The Beta couldn't stop growling at anyone who stepped into his mate’s room. As torn as Cyrus was, and as angry as he was that his mate killed Jack, he couldn't leave his side. And for some damn reason, he couldn't push aside the feeling of wanting to bite off anyone's head that stepped into his mate's room. The nurses were getting annoyed when every time they needed to draw blood or even adjust the Beta's IV, their own stupid Beta would lunge for them. ... Atticus sat in the hospital bed with River curled up against him asleep. He was devastated when he felt Tristan die, and he was more than relieved when he felt his lifeline return, and the bond he has to Tristan, as his Alpha, reconnect. Atticus knew he wouldn't be able to just wander around this place as he pleased. But he wasn't expecting it would take so long to get permission to see Tristan. It's been over two hours, and he still hasn't been cleared to go see Tristan. He's not sure what hurts more

Chapter 25 Tristan

Third Person's POV As Atticus followed Zane towards the pack house, the Alpha looked around, taking note of his surroundings and his mate’s pack. One of the things he noticed right away was that the people here didn't seem afraid. When they walked past the park, Atticus saw a Delta 3 and an Omega pushing their child on the swings, as other children laughed and played. A sense of pride went through Atticus knowing this is his mate's pack that is run so well. He notes how beautiful the landscaping is with all the flowers and shrubs throughout the pack. 'The place is really beautiful!' Atticus thought and felt his lips slightly tug up. Atticus must not have been the only one who noticed how beautiful and safe this place felt. It wasn't long before River began squirming in his arms, wanting down. Atticus smiled when he set River down and the Omega quickly ran toward a bundle of stargazers. The Omega dropped down, shoved his nose into the flowers, and took a deep breath in. Wh

Chapter 26 Anger

Third Person's POV It doesn't matter how hard Harris tries not to think about him, he does, and it pisses him off. He was beyond angry when he looked at the clock and it read 3:48 a.m. He had to be up in almost 2 hours, and he still had not slept a wink. ‘All because of that stupid Alpha and his God-like body... No, Fuck!’ Harris cursed himself. 'That's not what it is! Damn it! He's just... I fucking hate him!' Harris cursed the man again for what seemed like the millionth time. Harris tried to tell himself the man didn't have a body like a god. He tried forcing himself to stop thinking about him, and wishing there was no such thing as the mate bond. Harris once again told the Moon Goddess where to shove it. And then for just a moment, Harris felt guilty for the things he said to her, but then he remembered the face Brody made as his claws pierced his chest and wrapped around his heart. Nothing in the world can describe the look on his face. Nothing in the world can describe wha

Chapter 27 We Are Leaving

Third Person's POV It's their third day in this pack and Atticus is going stir crazy. As he paces the room the scent of Ash is so strong no one dares to go near him. His skin itches as Draven is just under the surface needing to be free. Atticus is both hurt and angry that his mate hasn't come to see him once. They've been stuck in these two rooms going on 2 days now. Atticus has requested to speak to the Alpha several times but he still hasn't come. The door opens and Atticus immediately stops pacing and faces the door. His immediate reaction was disappointment when he saw it wasn't his mate. But it quickly went away and he was filled with relief when he saw Tristan walking into the room. "Tristan!" The Alpha moved forward and lifted Tristan off the ground as he pulled him into a hug. "You scared me!" Atticus said, and breathed in his best friend's scent. "I'm sorry!" Tristan said as he hugged his Alpha. Atticus pulled back and held Tristan at arm's length, looking him ove

Chapter 28 Atticus

Third Person's POV Atticus looked at the people they passed while walking down the hall. He took note of how large the pack house was. The hall leading from the stairs all the way to the back door was long. There are doors all along the hall and Atticus wondered what they were for. The back door flies open and two little boys come racing in. Atticus watches, surprised as the children scream and giggle as they run down the hall while being chased by a small Omega with white hair. Atticus expected the children to keep racing past, but instead, they tried to tackle his mate as they screamed his name for help. Atticus is surprised again when he hears Harris laugh as he picks the two little ones up. "Help us, the monster said he's going to eat us up!" The smaller little boy said, who looked very similar to the Omega walking towards them. "Oh no, I can't let that happen! How about let's eat daddy up instead." Harris said and the little ones became excited and began chanting “let'

Third Person's POV Everyone eagerly filed out of their rooms, excited to eat in a dining room again. Memories of all the times they shared in the dining room of their old pack run through their heads, and they hope maybe they can make new memories here. Rose is giddy and she squeezes Nick's hand with a smile beaming on her face. His heart swells and he pulls her in, pressing a kiss to her forehead. For the first time, Nick is glad Rose can't feel his feelings because he's nervous as hell. He's scared one of them might find their mate. He knows if they do, neither one of them will be able to fight the bond, and one of their hearts will be broken. All night and all morning, Nick has prayed to the Goddess, hoping and begging that neither receives a second chance mate and to let them be happy together. Chapter 30 Can we Talk

Third Person's POV Tristan laid in bed, thinking of all the times he sat around the campfire, trying to figure out who would end up with who, and getting excited for those who found love. He thought of all the times he sat there wondering if he'd ever find love. Wondering if he'd ever find his mate with the luck that they were stuck in, always on the run, and no one ever giving them a chance. Everyone always assumed the worst of them and shunned them before finding out who they were. He thought of all the countless nights he prayed to the Goddess to help him find his mate. And now he wonders why he wasted his time. He should have known better. He should have known with their luck, and the fact that they had no home, everything would go wrong when he found him. He should have known his mate wouldn't want him, why would he? Tristan thought and then looked down at his clothes. He couldn't remember the last time he wore new clothes. Clothes that weren't washed in the river and hun
