CHAPTER 81 A Bitter Wake Up

Elsie's POV The next morning rolled around quickly, and as I opened my eyes, my head hammered with pain. Pulsing through my eyes and forehead, I had almost forgotten what a hangover this bad had felt like. It was something I had experienced since I was a student. Turning in bed for comfort from Theo, I realised my mate had left my side. As my eyes began to adjust to the natural light in the room, I squinted with one eye as I looked at the clock on the nightstand. It was the afternoon, 2 pm in fact.   I haven't laid in until this late in the day since I was a teenager, but I guess I should roll out of bed and make myself decent to start the rest of the day. Throwing myself into the shower, the hot water against my face and skin felt welcoming and eased my head pain a lot. I lost track of time standing there, but eventually surfaced to finish getting ready.   Leaving my bedroom, the house was quiet. I expected the lively sounds of Gracie giggling and playing, while the brothers

CHAPTER 82 Her Happiness

Kai's POV I had never dropped what I was doing, and ran to someone's aid as fast as I had after hearing Elsie's scared plea in my mind. Elsie was my priority, and her safety was the most important thing to me, and my brothers. We ascended the stairs, joining forces as we all caught her message in our minds and powered through the house, until we reached Elsie's bedroom. My blood boiled as my heart raced in my chest, pounding in my ears. If anyone has hurt Elsie, they would face my fists as I pounded them into the ground, so hard their body would become mulch. Theo had taken the lead, and then Oris had managed to barge past me. As we stood in the doorway, I could hear Elsie sobbing which caused my fury to engage and boil within me. I couldn't see quite clearly as to what was going on past my brothers until I took a step to the side, further into the room. "Bonnie is dead," Elsie sobbed and her sadness caused my heart to ache. My brother, Theo, seemed to stare at her in judge

CHAPTER 83 Heat of the Moment

Theo's POV "If you remember anything else Mr Warren, please don't hesitate to contact us," the Police Officer said as she turned on her feet, hanging in the doorway. "Sure thing Officer Ladlow," I replied with a smile. As helpful as the Police had been, I was feeling exhaustion taking me. I closed the door after Officer Ladlow had seemed satisfied with every piece of information she had taken from my brothers and I this evening.   The Summer Pack had always had a good relationship with the Police in this town, we never caused any trouble for them, and had even helped them on a few cases. I always used my keen interest in crime and the force being the reason for wanting to help them out. But at times I felt like being blessed with my wolf abilities, it made sense to use them to help others sometimes. So because of this, we had built trust with the Police Force. On the odd occasion it meant our family got special treatment. "How did it go?" Oris asked as he approached my sid

CHAPTER 84 Our Anniversary

Elsie's POV I was an intelligent woman, and of course I knew I shouldn't have accepted Rory's offer of meeting him, especially on such a traumatic occasion, our anniversary. So many small details of mine and Rory's time together had been forced from my mind, including a date I didn't wish to remember. A celebration of our first date. The date today had meant little to me, I had completely forgotten it would have been such a great occasion for us, provided we were still together. But a big part of me ignored my head and followed my heart. Purely on the possibility of having some unanswered questions brought to light. The note had been specific on where Rory wanted me to meet him, and I still recalled the spot down by the river like it was yesterday. I had showered, styled my hair and made myself look attractive for Rory, hoping his approval on my looks would make this easier for me. I had chosen a dress from my wardrobe I knew Rory would enjoy seeing me in, he always loved me

CHAPTER 85 The Truth Hurts

Elsie's POV "My darling you look breathtaking," Rory's husk of compliments felt unusual. He had never said such kind words before, not in this fashion. He would often talk to me like I was his possession, tell me I looked fuckable, and then use me as his very own fuck toy. But tonight he spoke to me like a gentleman. I watched as Rory emerged from behind me and took the spot on the blanket by my side, he poured himself a glass of wine and brought the glass to his lips. Our eyes were connected deeply as we both drank from our own glasses. "I hope you don't mind, I started without you," I said in reference to helping myself to the red wine on offer. Rory laughed after taking the glass away from his lips "Of course I don't mind, beautiful Elsie," he paused "I'm just thrilled you're here with me," I nodded, keeping the smile on my lips as I studied him. Rory had made an effort this evening, the further our relationship had gone, the more he had bothered less with his appearance

CHAPTER 86 Empty Promises

Rory's POV Considering Elsie had grown stronger with her warrior training, her mind still appeared to be as weak as ever. She was eating up the lies which left my mouth, as I spun tales of how toxic her parents had been. 'You're sick,' Evander hissed in my mind 'Lets see how far we can push this little one' a chuckle shuddered around my head from my wolf. 'Yes,' I replied with a low growl 'If only Elsie knew the truth, how lovely and caring her parents had been, doting on their baby and showering her with nothing but affection,' 'I remember,' Evander said coldly 'It was disgusting how much they cherished that child, but we couldn't let them stand in the way of getting what we deserved,' 'Indeed,' I said, watching Elsie's face express so many emotions as she processed the information I had given her 'I do enjoy seeing my Elsie like this though, look at her. She's crumbling and it won't be long until she's begging me to take her back again,' 'I can't wait,' Evander husked '

CHAPTER 87 He's a Monster

Rory's POV "Go fuck yourself Rory Roth," Elsie's cruel words stung, but I managed to keep a wicked smile on my lips as my eyes still glared at her. I had almost won the little bitch over, she had nearly been mine once more, but she couldn't see past her feelings for Theo and his tag-a-longs. I hadn't given much thought as to how strong their bond has gotten, but now I realised they infected her mind, it would be difficult for me to break down that wall.   "Very well," I shrugged her words off "I gave you enough chances. One day you will regret not being by my side once more," "I will never regret my choices," Elsie replied, I could sense her anger burn within her as I noticed her jaw clench in frustration "Im stronger than I once was, I will always defeat you," I couldn't help but release a loud, booming laugh at Elsie's statement. She was a comedian for sure, without even realising! "You were pathetic then, and you're still pathetic now," I wasn't holding back now, my s

CHAPTER 88 It's not Natural

Elsie's POV 'I feel trapped, this was the worst idea,' Elsie's voice spoke in my mind, and I cowered before the tall figure of Rory Roth before me. 'It's fine,' I replied to the timid voice in my mind as she spoke with defeat 'I've got this, you're safe from him,' I inched backwards, trying to make myself large as I puffed up my fur, but my body ached from where he had tossed me so easily to the ground as though I weighed nothing. I watched the blood seep from the wound I had made in his shoulder with my sharp jaws, he held onto himself tightly, but the blood still trickled through the cracks of his fingers. I knew I should run, quit while I was ahead, but I could sense something within Rory, a sense of something I couldn't recognise. I felt a morbid curiosity to know more. So I stood my ground, growling at the Alpha in my attempt to seem a threat so he would stay away from me. It was then I noticed his skin begin to bubble, moving and shifting as lumps formed beneath his

CHAPTER 89 The Wise Words of a Warrior

Theo's POV "Theo Warren," Echo smiled as she said my name "It's been a while since I saw your face around here," patting me on the back I felt myself nearly winded. The strength of his powerful woman was insane. "Yeah," I replied shamefully, trying to get my breath back. I had neglected the warriors lately "My apologies Echo, but I come with concerning news," "Come sit with me," Echo said she guided me toward a stone bench in the shade "What troubles you Theo?" We sat beneath the shade of a blossoming overhanging tree, protecting us from the harsh afternoon sun. Yet even the stone bench felt warm underneath me. "Elsie had an encounter with Rory Roth, he was unnaturally strong and had grown in size," I paused as my eyes shifted to Elsie who was training on the grounds "I have never seen Elsie so frightened, and it terrified me at what lengths Rory is willing to go get what he wants. I'm beginning to fear for her life, he has killed to get to Elsie, and now I doubt he would s

CHAPTER 90 War

Elsie's POV The rush was sensational, I felt a connection to everything around me. After taking in what Echo had taught me, I had started to learn to listen to my body and control my emotions. I used my love and hate to my advantage, which made me stronger, faster and more agile. I could feel my senses enhance as my abilities grew stronger. 'We've got this Elsie' Ashe said to me as I lashed my fist against my opponent 'Duck, swing, he's coming for you! Be prepared to strike!' It was as though Ashe could predict my opponents moves, and I managed to dodge every one of them. 'Now strike!' Ashe commanded, just catching my opponent between each move, managing to catch him while he was vulnerable for a millisecond 'That's it Elsie! No strike again! Get his legs!' But this connection I felt with my wolf, I hadn't felt it during my training at the Autumn Pack, or when I trained alone in the woods. It was a deeper level of a bond that had grown between us. "Okay, alright," my oppo
