51 - No mistake

The string of colors danced in the air before gradually dispersing, blending back into the living nature. The damp ground caused people's movements to trip between hurried strides and cautious steps as they moved forward and departed. Naya stood frozen, her eyes wide as she stared at the unmoving woman on the ground. Despite the blood trickling from her lips, Sana Azalea lay with a peaceful expression, as if her mission had been fulfilled. The rustling of bushes startled Naya. She turned and saw a familiar face. Alpha Prince Kael stood silently, his gaze locked with hers under the early morning sun. Slowly, his eyes shifted to the lifeless Sana Azalea, noting the arrow still embedded in her chest. Kael walked forward, observing Naya’s shocked expression, and nonchalantly knelt down. Without a word, he grabbed the arrow and pulled it out of Sana Azalea’s chest.Naya finally reacted, snapping back to her senses. Anger flared in her eyes as she looked at Kael. “What are you doing?”Ka

52 - Outside turmoil

Tension filled the air as Alpha Prince Kael entered the room with Naya and Jed. Jed’s gaze was full of worry but before he could even utter a word, he heard Kael speak. “Leave us alone,” he ordered. Jed wanted to oppose, not wanting to leave Kael with the rogue after the tragic incident with Sana Azalea. However, he too was filled with many questions, especially with what those two women said to Naya. What was that all about? And why did they ask Alpha Prince Kael to visit their Holy Temple? In the end, Jed could only follow what his boss ordered him to. While leaving, he couldn’t help but glance at Naya who was silent the entire time. This woman didn’t know any of the moon disciples but they seemed to know her. How did it happen? With more questions in his mind, Jed turned to the door and left. Finally alone, Kael walked up to Naya. He stood close to her and with eyes in between indifference and anger, he demanded, “What did you hear?” Naya lifted her chin, cold and calm eyes

53 - Descendant

Alpha Jake was a very simple leader. His priority was always the West Wood Pack, its safety and security. Since the outside events were no longer in his control, he refused to take part in them. Even when other packs reached out in hopes to join forces, he flatly rejected them. If there was one pack he could trust, that was the Crimson Stone Pack. However, there was still a limit to the partnership between their pack to that biggest pack. For example, in terms of warfare talks, the majority of things would stay confidential. The resources they maintained were kept and would only be shared through trading. It was a give and take relationship, funded by the strong loyalty for each other. But in the end, one could only share a few things, not everything. The reason for this was one could never fully trust people except their kin, because it was written in the books of life that tragedy exists when there was too much trust given to people who do not belong to the same pack or wasn’t one

54 - Tangled bond

The news about the West Wood Pack’s alpha princes about to take wives spread in the territory like a wildfire. The sadness that came from the anointed shaman’s death was quickly replaced by excitement. Even the readings about the upcoming drought were cast aside. “It’s bound to happen. Sooner or later, all the alpha princes will have to take their mates eventually,” Head Servant Nana Harlene said to the servants while they were cooking in the main pack house kitchen. Apparently, Alpha Prince Felix was going to join his mother and father for lunch today. Some say they would also discuss the upcoming Blue Moon Hunt. One young servant asked, “But, Nana, shouldn’t fate be the one to dictate their bond with their mates?” A deep emotion flashed through Nana Harlene’s eyes before it disappeared. “Time has changed. About 100 years ago, a new tradition came supported by the anointed shaman’s blessing. In each pack, Alpha and his sons are given the chance to take whoever they wish to be the

55 - Where all truths reside

If Kael was surprised, he didn’t show it on his face. Instead, he just casually told Naya, “Don’t bother.” Without care, he began to walk away, leaving the rest of his team. Naya watched his retreating form. She couldn’t point it out but there was something off with that man. Or was it just her imagination? Not wanting to let it go, she started to follow after him, when Jed suddenly blocked her path. “You heard Alpha Prince,” he said coldly. “Don’t make things difficult for him.” Naya had always ignored Jed’s taunts towards her. She also ignored the way he described her or belittled her for being an outsider. In reality, she didn’t care at all. But for some strange reason, she found herself reacting, her eyes coldly looking back at him. “You have no right to stop me,” she stated. Jed and the rest of Kael’s subordinates were stunned. Before any of them could stop Naya, Naya began to move, running to the path Kael took. “How dare she act so high and above you, Master Jed? Surel

56 - Shadow in the mist

Going through the unfamiliar grounds of the West Wood Pack wasn’t on the list of Naya’s worries. In fact, stepping foot on this territory already served as training for her. Who was to say what awaited her when she finally entered Crimson Stone Pack? From what she heard, it had a territory as twice or even thrice as big as this pack. Fear for the unknown path disappeared when Naya left her own pack. She had to maintain a focused mind if she wanted to keep surviving amongst these cruel pack members of the mainland and execute her plan to fulfill her task. Currently, her mate was a mess. She couldn’t explain it, but she could feel there was something off with Kael. Very discreetly, she followed his scent while also being wary of her surroundings. This was still a hunt after all – a hunt where participants were allowed to beat each other up just to get the prized deer. She already reached the river point when the scent suddenly disappeared. Naya stopped on her tracks. She glanced fr

57 - Hidden threat

To say Naya was surprised would be an understatement. She had known her father to be a one-command type of man. Once he said it, he would never take it back. Seth saw the confusion in Naya's eyes. He discreetly said, "Before the sun sets today. I suggest we should return." Naya looked at him. Seth pulled his gaze away and for the first time, he opened, "I don't see the rest of your team. Where are they?" "My father," Naya said, "Does he really want me to return?" Without fulfilling her mission? How could this be possible? The Light Shadow Pack's Alpha Prince glanced at Naya, his eyes gleaming under the sun. But whatever admiration he held to her, he had kept it hidden perfectly, masking it with a slightly prideful, aloof appearance. "I don't know the details but yes, he said he wants you back," Alpha Prince Seth answered. Then he looked down, worry flashing through his eyes. "Our pack isn't in a good state. My father's health is declining and my sister saw a vision." Naya's he

58 - Draining power

The assassin that went after her when she escaped the West Wood Pack territory through that cave, the mysterious rogue who came after Sana Azalea’s life, and now another stranger going after Alpha Prince Felix. Remembering all the pain that went through with the familiar weapon, Naya found herself leaping just as the arrow left the body. Her fingers clutching around the small knife in her pocket, she threw it to the assassin, the blade shooting through his leg. At the same time, Alpha Prince Felix and his team reacted. Aware of the two new presences around them, they immediately covered Felix and went on a fighting position. But Alpha Prince Felix also sprinted out of the protective barrier, going after the assassin as Naya did. “Alpha Prince!” his assistant, Max, called but he didn’t respond. Because he was too fast like the wind, Felix ended up bumping into Naya, their bodies colliding and falling to the ground in a hard and loud thud. Naya winced and looked up, only to be met

59 - Unfinished task

Naya ran through the forest, her mobility not faltering a second. She had to find Billy quickly. By now, the rest of the Midnight Seven were most probably gathered in that boat. As Naya ran, a familiar shadow ran to the distance that caught her attention. She squinted and felt her heart beat stop for a second. It was that assassin again. Falling into some dilemma, Naya listened to her heart’s wish and ran after the unknown man. That person was wounded so he couldn’t maintain his balance for a long period. Now and then, his movements began to slow. Naya took the opportunity and lunged forward. Caught on guard, the man staggered and fell to the huge tree trunk. Faster than the wind, Naya held his collar, took her knife out, and pointed it at the assassin's neck. “Move and you’ll die,” she warned. The man underneath the black mask winced. Her tone fierce and cold, Naya pushed the knife further, its tip touching his clothed neck. “Who are you doing these orders for? Who is your ma

60 - Rain begins to pour

Inside the Light Shadow Pack main house, a long table was set with a variety of meat, vegetables, and fruits. Nuts have been placed on a separate plate and glasses were filled with red, black, and orange color liquids. Alpha Reid sat on the far end of the table. On each side sat his children, Alpha Princess Darlene, Alpha Prince Seth, and Alpha Prince Manuel. The quiet atmosphere was quickly filled with tension the moment one of them spoke. “I want to join the mission.” It was Alpha Prince Manuel who apparently talked. Both his siblings turned to him in surprise while Alpha Reid gave him a sharp glance. “What mission?” Alpha Reid asked. The youngest prince, aged 18, said with determination, “The Midnight Seven. I heard they will return in a few days. Alpha, I want to join–” “Who said you can join?” Alpha Prince Seth interjected. “Father, don’t listen to him. It’s a special mission and he’s still too young. If there’s anyone who should join, shouldn’t it be?” Manuel glared at
