Elizabeth POV It had been a long night. Carter had slept fitfully. They kept administering pain medication, along with medication to counter the effects of the silver in his blood system. Doctor Thomas POV These Pack hospitals frustrated me. They had not advanced themselves as doctors to know current trends or opportunities in managing silver or wolfsbane poisoning. Elizabeth POV We were rushing in to do the surgery for Carter. My heart was in my mouth as I tried to remember everything Thomas had told me. I would need to wait until he extracted the silver bullet from his spine before entering the operating room. He wanted as few people and germs present as possible during the various stages of the operation. I paced impatiently waiting for my turn to support Carter. I had been praying to the Moon Goddess incessantly since they wheeled Carter away from me. Before they took him away, I had a few personal words with him. The most important was how much I loved him. Elizabeth POV “Luna, I need you to leave!” Thomas says to me as he tries to save Carter. “I am not leaving,” I say staying away from the area he is working. The sound of the flatline is pressing on my chest. The longer that piercing sound goes on, the more I realize I could lose him. I am losing him. Suddenly it stops. There is deafening silence.
