First of a double chapter update ... enjoy! Ellie xo
Stan POV I hold Tamara by her throat when Elizabeth pulls me off her. “Stan, Kinsley needs you right now,” she says pulling me away from Tamara towards Kinsley. I move to stand beside her, “What do I do to help her?” I ask anybody who will guide me. “Touch her, Beta; that will help,” the other doctor says. “I can barely feel the sparks between us,” I mutter. “That is normal, they will start to come back as the medication starts to work. She must be infected worse than we realized to have her body react in that way,” Tamara says as she rubs her throat. Her voice is noticeably hoarse. I can feel Thomas move around to check Tamara’s neck before he wraps her in his arms. I can tell Tamara is crying, but I do not turn around. I am focused on Kinsley and trying to help her get through this.Elizabeth POV “I am going to go check on Carter. I will be right back,” I murmur to Stan who nods continuing to focus on Kinsley. I smile at Thom
Alpha Carter POV I had made it back. I had been struggling in my own mind for the past couple days. Trying to communicate with Elizabeth to let her know I was still here. When I finally felt her in my arms, felt the sparks between us, and felt that I could move I felt my own tears of relief. Looking down to see her in my arms was overwhelming. I never thought I would do it again. “What do you mean?” I ask confused how Elizabeth had saved me. “She is a silver wolf. She is a blessing to this Pack in more ways than one,” Thomas says to me. I look at Elizabeth waiting for an explanation. “Apparently I can heal someone who has been affected by silver poisoning,” she shares with me. I stare at her in awe. I knew she was a blessing to me on her own. Knowing she had more hidden talents blew me away. “How did we not know that?” I asked her wondering what else she could do. “I have to say, Alpha, that it comes down to your medical staff not taking
Alpha Carter POV I had finally convinced Elizabeth and Thomas to allow me to go and see Stan. Thomas had insisted on one condition … I had to use a wheelchair as he did not want me risking a fall. I was reluctant but if it was the only way to have the doctor accept, then I would do so. Elizabeth wheeled me into the room. The sight that befell me was one of shock. Kinsley was laying on her side as Tamara and a doctor I did not recognize worked on her. Stan was standing with his back against the wall, hands on his head simply watching everything unfold. You could smell the toxins coming out of Kinsley’s body. I looked around and did not see one doctor or nurse from my own team. “Take me to the nurse’s station, please Elizabeth,” I asked as I stew inside. She walks me there quickly, as I stand by the desk and hold onto it for support. “What the hell is going on here?” I ask as the nurses are chuckling at a joke of some sort. “Excuse me, Alpha
Stan POV My heart breaks seeing the confusion in Kinsley’s eyes. I look to Tamara who is looking at Kinsley with concern. “Do you remember your name?” Tamara asks. “Kinsley,” she replies slowly. “Correct,” Tamara says with a smile. “It may take a bit of time, but I am confident your memory will come back,” she says to assure Kinsley. The last thing we want is for her to be panicking. “Why isn’t my wolf talking to me?” she asks alarmed. “You have been through a lot, Kinsley. Your wolf is likely recovering from the toxins that were in your body from the rogue bite,” the doctor tells her. “Am I rogue?” she asks timidly. “No! You are not,” I say quickly not wanting those thoughts or fears for her. I touch her hand and feel the sparks stronger between us. I see her hand jump away from mine in surprise. “That is the sparks from our bond,” I say to her quietly wanting her to feel the bond. To feel our connection. She slowly reaches her hand b
Alpha Carter POV They get her to the outside and we are horrified at the sight. Bite marks are all over the girl’s arms and I suspect areas we cannot see. The rage Thomas is feeling is overwhelming to everyone present. “This is my mate’s sister. I want to know who did this,” he says softly. I know Thomas will lose it on whomever gets in his way. “We need to get her to the Pack hospital,” Tamara says quickly. Thomas picks the girl up. She is thin, not looking to have been fed much, if anything, for a couple weeks. Tamara leads the way to the Pack hospital, and we barge in with Diane following us. She tackles any doctors who get in the way, cautioning they are all on notice for the abuse of Carly. Elizabeth and I wait in the hall just outside of the door. One of the Pack nurses enters the room offering Tamara help. They start ordering medication to sedate Carly, along with some scans. I know they will have to do other exams, and I cringe th
Elizabeth POV I could not believe that these people were prepared to fight us. For nothing that will change as Alpha Matt is now dead. The Alpha and Luna who betrayed their Pack and them. Nothing would change their minds at this point. They were out for blood. The Pack continued to move towards us, just as one man started to swing out at me, Carter’s hand caught his fist and crushed it in his hand. Before anyone else could get hurt Diane came in, “Everyone stand down!” she yelled throwing a command behind her voice. “What is the meaning of this?” she demands of the Red Woods Pack members. “We want justice for our Alpha and Luna,” the leader says. “Be grateful you are going to retain your Pack. Most in this situation would be disbanded,” Diane advises them. “Now go home and think about your futures at this Pack,” she adds as the Pack members curse, while leaving the hospital. “Are you alright?” Carter asks me. Surprisingly I am
Stan POV I had focused most of my time, since Carter left, on Kinsley. She was ready to come back to the Pack house today. She was still very uncomfortable with me particularly if we were alone. I had no idea how to make her feel more comfortable. She had to work on getting her strength back for walking. Although she had only been out a relatively short period, the fight against the toxins had exhausted a lot of her strength. She still had not heard from her wolf and that was causing her a lot of anxiety as well. The doctor who had been working with Tamara had stayed with us. She assured Kinsley that this was all normal and she would get everything she felt she had lost back. I hope that included me. Our Gamma had been keeping me up to date on Pack activities. All was pretty quiet for a busy Pack. I think most Pack members appreciated the challenges we were facing personally and had been trying to give us all space with few distractions. I
Elizabeth POV “What does that mean?” I ask confused with what Carter is saying. Perhaps it is the grogginess around my sleep deprived brain that is causing me to be dense. I sit back in my chair and wait for him to explain. He puts the papers down beside him and pulls his chair closer to mine. Our knees are touching, and I feel a sense of comfort at his closeness. I have a strong feeling I am not going to like what he is about to tell me. He takes my hand and holds it gently in his. “Oddly it would seem that when you arrived at the Red Woods Pack is when this money started arriving,” he says to me. “Okay,” I reply feeling the aches in my body from having been sitting over the documents all night. “What does that mean?” I ask naively. Carter looks at me sadly, “It means there is a good chance that someone else knew your aunt and uncle took you. It means that there is a good chance someone was paying the Alpha and the Red Woods Pack to keep yo
