Elizabeth POV We were rushing in to do the surgery for Carter. My heart was in my mouth as I tried to remember everything Thomas had told me. I would need to wait until he extracted the silver bullet from his spine before entering the operating room. He wanted as few people and germs present as possible during the various stages of the operation. I paced impatiently waiting for my turn to support Carter. I had been praying to the Moon Goddess incessantly since they wheeled Carter away from me. Before they took him away, I had a few personal words with him. The most important was how much I loved him. How much I needed him to survive for me. Whatever happened we would deal with together. I knew he was the strongest person I had ever met and if anyone could fight this, he could. The doctor coming with the antidote for Kinsley had not arrived yet. Her flight hit a delay, so she was behind schedule. It was adding to the tension surrounding the
Stan POV I slowly walk back towards Kinsley’s room. I feel guilty knowing I am dragging my feet. I needed a break from simply staring at my mate. I could see her changing in front of my eyes. Her scent continued to change, and I could see my mark fading on her body. When I checked the mirror her mark on me was also fading. I was pissed that I had not been there to help protect her from the rogues who had attacked her. I would never forgive myself for leaving her on her own. None of it made sense. I was trying to figure out the end game for the rogues. It was rare that an Alpha could work with rogues, but we all agreed this was not a regular Alpha. He was toxic in his own right. As I stood outside of Kinsley’s room considering if it was worth talking to Luna Nancy to find out more, I heard a scream from inside Kinsley’s room. I run in and am horrified to see the bite she had sustained oozing a discolored fluid. The doctor rushes in, “It is
Elizabeth POV “Luna, I need you to leave!” Thomas says to me as he tries to save Carter. “I am not leaving,” I say staying away from the area he is working. The sound of the flatline is pressing on my chest. The longer that piercing sound goes on, the more I realize I could lose him. I am losing him. Suddenly it stops. There is deafening silence. And then one beep. And another. And another. Coming back stronger, “We got him back,” Thomas says before adding, “Let’s close him up. Luna, he is back; now please step out,” he requests. I take one last look at Carter and then nod stepping out of the operating room. I step out and slide down the wall sitting with my knees up against my chest. Everything has come crashing down on me. All my fears and worries as I sit there with the emotions falling out of me before I can process what is happening. I feel someone come and sit next to me, but I cannot see who it is for the tears. I wi
Stan POV “Why did you do it?” I ask Tamara again. “I told you; he has my sister. He was blackmailing me to do his bidding,” Tamara says. “Why didn’t you come to the Alpha or me for help?” I ask. “He has eyes everywhere. He said he would know if I went to you for help,” she replies exhaustedly. “It was why I tried to put myself around you all so much. It is why I tried to cause Elizabeth to doubt herself,” she says as tears rose in her eyes. “I just need to get my sister back,” she says. “She is only sixteen. Goddess knows what he has done to her,” she adds. “What do you know about rogue bites?” I ask her to change the subject. She had been repeating the same, consistent answers for the past hour. “Someone was bit? Take me to them, I can help,” she says quickly standing in front of me. “They were bit a couple days ago. They have received an antidote, but are not responding well,” I offer to her. “Dammit. I told these doctor
Stan POV I hold Tamara by her throat when Elizabeth pulls me off her. “Stan, Kinsley needs you right now,” she says pulling me away from Tamara towards Kinsley. I move to stand beside her, “What do I do to help her?” I ask anybody who will guide me. “Touch her, Beta; that will help,” the other doctor says. “I can barely feel the sparks between us,” I mutter. “That is normal, they will start to come back as the medication starts to work. She must be infected worse than we realized to have her body react in that way,” Tamara says as she rubs her throat. Her voice is noticeably hoarse. I can feel Thomas move around to check Tamara’s neck before he wraps her in his arms. I can tell Tamara is crying, but I do not turn around. I am focused on Kinsley and trying to help her get through this.Elizabeth POV “I am going to go check on Carter. I will be right back,” I murmur to Stan who nods continuing to focus on Kinsley. I smile at Thom
Alpha Carter POV I had made it back. I had been struggling in my own mind for the past couple days. Trying to communicate with Elizabeth to let her know I was still here. When I finally felt her in my arms, felt the sparks between us, and felt that I could move I felt my own tears of relief. Looking down to see her in my arms was overwhelming. I never thought I would do it again. “What do you mean?” I ask confused how Elizabeth had saved me. “She is a silver wolf. She is a blessing to this Pack in more ways than one,” Thomas says to me. I look at Elizabeth waiting for an explanation. “Apparently I can heal someone who has been affected by silver poisoning,” she shares with me. I stare at her in awe. I knew she was a blessing to me on her own. Knowing she had more hidden talents blew me away. “How did we not know that?” I asked her wondering what else she could do. “I have to say, Alpha, that it comes down to your medical staff not taking
Alpha Carter POV I had finally convinced Elizabeth and Thomas to allow me to go and see Stan. Thomas had insisted on one condition … I had to use a wheelchair as he did not want me risking a fall. I was reluctant but if it was the only way to have the doctor accept, then I would do so. Elizabeth wheeled me into the room. The sight that befell me was one of shock. Kinsley was laying on her side as Tamara and a doctor I did not recognize worked on her. Stan was standing with his back against the wall, hands on his head simply watching everything unfold. You could smell the toxins coming out of Kinsley’s body. I looked around and did not see one doctor or nurse from my own team. “Take me to the nurse’s station, please Elizabeth,” I asked as I stew inside. She walks me there quickly, as I stand by the desk and hold onto it for support. “What the hell is going on here?” I ask as the nurses are chuckling at a joke of some sort. “Excuse me, Alpha
Stan POV My heart breaks seeing the confusion in Kinsley’s eyes. I look to Tamara who is looking at Kinsley with concern. “Do you remember your name?” Tamara asks. “Kinsley,” she replies slowly. “Correct,” Tamara says with a smile. “It may take a bit of time, but I am confident your memory will come back,” she says to assure Kinsley. The last thing we want is for her to be panicking. “Why isn’t my wolf talking to me?” she asks alarmed. “You have been through a lot, Kinsley. Your wolf is likely recovering from the toxins that were in your body from the rogue bite,” the doctor tells her. “Am I rogue?” she asks timidly. “No! You are not,” I say quickly not wanting those thoughts or fears for her. I touch her hand and feel the sparks stronger between us. I see her hand jump away from mine in surprise. “That is the sparks from our bond,” I say to her quietly wanting her to feel the bond. To feel our connection. She slowly reaches her hand b
