Chapter 81

TYSON “ When are you leaving? ” Dustin asked. “ Are you so eager to kick me out? ” I scoffed and moved in the water to face him. He stood on the side of the pool, looking down at me. “ of course. You are starting to grate my nerves. ” “ What a nice thing to say to a friend. ” I rolled my eyes and placed my elbows on the edge. “ Dear friend, return to your Kingdom before the South takes advantage of your absence and attacks the East. ” He shot me a tight-lipped, humorless smile. “ You said so yourself… ” I hummed. “ The King of the South won’t do any real damage. ” “ I told you and you just trusted me? ” He stated monotonically. “ that’s new. ” “ That’s what friends are for? No? ” I grinned at him to annoy him some more. He didn’t like it when others were not listening to him easily. So, that’s what I usually do. “ Tyson. ” Dustin’s eyes zeroed in on me. “ Oh come on. I will leave when Nora leaves. ” I shrugged, turning in the water again to face the other edge of the pool t

Chapter 82

TYSON My stubborn heart started aching again. I clenched my jaw, trying to calm down the idiot but it was happy because she was so close and she was kissing me. Once more, I had no control over myself. And it made the lava of bubbling anger grow bigger inside me. To protect my sanity, I moved away from her and swam to the other corner swiftly. My back rested against the wall opposite her before I lifted my head and stared at her. “ Do you think you can avoid giving me an answer if you do this? ” She scrunched her nose cutely. My gaze traveled to her neck, fixing on my mark before I lowered it to her heaving chest under a tight black bra. I licked my lips and stole a glance at her smooth tummy, those long legs which looked divine when they were wrapped around me, and her panties that hid that pussy I pounded good this morning. “ You should stay in bed today. ” I averted my gaze and suggested. She should disappear and give some rest to my hammering heart. Or I might as well cross

Chapter 83

AMELIA Without breathing, without moving, I looked at him. My lips tingled with the touch of his mouth that felt unreal. Maybe, my mind conjured up a strange image while I was so close to death. He was going to kill me. He really was going to kill me. I had never felt it so deep in my bones before. He wanted to kill me but he had changed his mind. Why, I wanted to ask, to scream. But I didn’t. My mind was numb, and my lungs were tight. His hand still lingered around my throat, its weight a constant reminder of the way he choked me a moment ago. However, it didn’t scare me. Even when I couldn’t breathe, I didn’t fear him. Not anymore. “ You shouldn’t have asked me to do it. ” Tyson whispered, and the dam broke. Rain fell in wet sheets over us as he leaned into me and our lips met with a marvellous intensity. A startled gasp slipped from my mouth, allowing his lips to press into mine harder. He was kissing me. If the rain was not blurring my vision, I would have found it hard

Chapter 84

AMELIA “ Why do you worry about small things? ” Nora wondered while trying to keep Prince Ryder in place. I glanced at the broody child who tried to sneak away after every moment to avoid drinking milk before I shook my head, and looked up at his mother. “ I am not worrying about anything. ” “ Then why do you keep zoning out? ” Nora pouted and pushed Ryder back on the couch again. My cheeks heated. I coughed to clear my throat and leaned back on the couch opposite her. “ I am not zoning out. ” I mumbled uneasily. We were in the middle of making out when Dustin sent someone to get Tyson. He helped me out of the pool, stayed until I dressed up, and left. It’s been hours since that and there was no sign of him. It was all so abrupt, that I didn’t know what to make of anything. “ We are leaving in a while, Amelia. ” She said, grabbing my attention. “ So soon? ” I blurted out without giving it much thought. “ It’s been days, Amelia. We have to get back and watch things in the W

Chapter 85

AMELIA Without saying goodbye to anyone, Tyson brought me back to the East. My heart kept skipping beats while I thought about the kind of trouble Dad was planning on causing now. It couldn’t be anything good. And it couldn’t be anything we could handle easily. Tyson didn’t say anything to me when we entered the Eastcairn Citadel. He helped me get down from the horse before he left me alone. Elizabeth came rushing out and took me to my room. It was late in the night but I couldn’t sleep when Tyson was out there, hunting Dad. Then there was Adelia. Elizabeth told me she was staying in the castle as Tyson ordered Evan to keep her here before we left. The rest of the night, and the rest of the next day, I kept contemplating whether I should meet Adelia and ask her something or just let her be. Because I still didn’t know how she processed the truth. Did she hate me more? Or did she accept that I had no fault in whatever Dad planned over the years? We didn’t have the same father

Chapter 86

AMELIA My heart was pounding wildly by the time I ended up in front of the throne room’s closed doors. Guards stood on either side of them, observing me keenly. A servant had already informed me about many Alphas’ presence in the throne room. There was no doubt left. Something was happening inside and it was not something Tyson had planned. “ Lady Amelia, you— ” “ Open the door. ” I whispered, before closing my mouth to not let my breathlessness show too much. “ We can’t do that, Lady Amelia. You should return to your room. ” The warrior on the right side informed me sternly. I clenched my jaw and placed my hands on the door. “ Lady Amelia— ” “ Don’t get in my way. ” I uttered and pushed the doors open. The scene in the throne room was something I feared on my way here. The Alphas sat on their spots, their heads turning in my direction when the doors opened. I took in the familiar and unfamiliar faces before lifting my gaze towards Tyson who sat on his throne, at the end of

Chapter 87

AMELIA “ A mind is a maze with no center. The more you try to find the right way, the deeper you will get lost. ” A distant memory and the blurred face of my mother appeared before my eyes. I didn’t know if I was remembering my own memory or seeing Dad’s memories. But, I knew she was there, sitting behind me, braiding my long hair that she loved. “ What do you do if you don’t look for the right way? ” My voice sounded in my head and everything paused for a brief moment. “ It’s simple, Ami. You never become part of the maze. You look at it from outside, like a fleeting visitor. Either map out the whole maze or locate what you need the most and walk away. Remember, the sooner you get away from the maze, the less you will be tempted to get lost inside. ” She whispered, pressing a kiss on the back of my head. “ What if I get lost and don’t find my way out? ” A shudder rolled down my spine at the thought. “ You won’t get lost, Sweetheart. ” She chuckled. “ How can you be sure, Mom?

Chapter 88

AMELIA“ That’s clever. You dug her body out of that place because you knew I would tell His Highness about it. After I was proved wrong, you buried her there again. No one would dig the same spot twice to look for a dead body, right? ” I gritted my teeth. He must have thought I didn’t see anything in his memory. How wrong of Dad. I knew exactly what he did and how he did it.“ What nonsense is that daughter? ” He sighed, shaking his head.“ Daughter? You acknowledged yourself. I am not your daughter. It’s time to drop the act and admit the truth, Alpha Kingsley. Your game is over. ” I clasped my hands together in front of my stomach.“ I didn’t want to do this, Amelia. But seeing you now…I feel I shouldn’t have hid this for so long. ” He shifted his focus to Tyson. My heart skipped a beat. “ you killed— ”“ His Highness is well aware of your lies. He was a victim once. ” He interrupted and made me swallow the rest of my words. So that’s how he wanted to go with this now? Expose me f

Chapter 89

AMELIA “ The King never touched you? ”Chaotic chatter filled the throne room. Voices mingled. Surprise changed into horror, and then an uproar.Dad stood in the middle of it all, watching me and trying to find a way out. But it was done. He couldn’t save himself even if I was proved wrong.“ It’s true. ” The Former King stepped out of the shadows and became the center of attention. “ The girl lied. It’s horrendous to think someone would tell such lies, but it’s the truth. She accused the Prince at that time so her father, Alpha Kingsley could get a high position. ”And you gave it to him. I wanted to scream at him. I might as well do that today. How low could I drop from here anyway? “ Instead of trusting your son or giving him a chance to prove his innocence, you handed General Alpha’s position to Dad to close the issue.” I walked towards the first stair and halted at the edge. “ A King was supposed to look for the truth and make justice prevail but all you did was sweep a crime u

Chapter 90

AMELIA One moment it was silent. The next, it was pure mayhem. The Alphas sprung from their spots and charged towards me all at once. Dad looked at me, in shock and confusion before his gaze dropped to the dagger that was stuck in his flesh. His face darkened. He pushed my shoulder back harshly. I dropped to the floor, sucked in a sharp breath, and prepared myself for the consequences. The people coming at me, my father trying to get the dagger out of his chest, and my sister screaming in the background…nothing fazed me. A silly grin etched onto my lips and then became a sinister laugh. Finally, I lost my mind, but I was not alone in this. Death would be a suitable punishment for driving everyone crazy with me. I closed my eyes and surrendered myself to my fate. After a disarray of yells, and growls…silence prevailed. I doubted my hearing ability. Things couldn’t possibly calm down after such a show. My heartbeat thrummed inside my stomach, giving rise to an eerie feeling th
