CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY TWO

Noah's Pov"What could that be, sir?" "An epiphany, Richard..." I answered."What epiphany sir?" he asked. "That you are risking your health standing shirtless in this weather?...""Okay that's enough with the remarks Richard, I'll get dressed alright...""Well I'm sorry sire, but persistence is key..." he bowed.I frowned now, and turned away. I dropped the box and coat over my bed, then walked over to the wardrobe and swung open the oak doors. My eyes were greeted with clothes and jeans on separated racks, all neatly pressed and folded. I squinted at the pile and reached randomly, picking a blue shirt and black jeans. The door slammed behind me as I slugged my legs inside the trousers; shrugged inside then buttoned the shirt."There we are sir...and I believe you should add the coat now too..." "No, that's enough...I need my ability to move freely. A huge coat is a burden...""Move freely? Where are you going sir?" he asked.I straightened the shirt as I stared at the mirror again

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE

Izon's Pov I could feel my feet squish in the muddy ground like a baby's bathing sponge in frustrated hands. I hated it when it rained; and even more so when I had to be out on the field at the same time. The weapons I carried grew heavier as the rain poured down, and I walked damp past the barracks and into the armament room. I pushed open the door with my feet as every square inch of my arms were occupied. The metal door creaked open and I huffed; dragging blades and axes as though a knight wearing double chainmail. The room was lit with torches on all sides and the whole space seemed to glow red like hell's belly. I frowned as I moved over to the vacant clips on the walls, and filled them with weapons, increasing our arsenal. It was the only thing that felt good for me as far as today was concerned."Might grow old and die being second fiddle...but I won't accept it..." I groaned, lifting a mace. The head was spherical, and spikes shot out every which way; one wrong move and a fi

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY FOUR

Noah's Pov The path to Colin's home was a winding one, and with the wet ground, I almost went mud sledding. The slight hill that sloped down this shortcut was dangerously arched, yet low in a plateau. And I reached one foot at a time, feeling for solid ground, before I took any step. The rain didn't show any sign of stopping anytime soon, and I groaned in frustration as my feet splashed and sploshed; going almost ankle deep in brown soil. I kept my head forward however, with my night vision re-ignited, getting closer and treading carefully. The night had grown old and the skies had subsequently fallen in a darker shade. The moon itself seemed to have retreated into its own home for fear of being struck by lightning. But I tramped onward and reached a clearing; a grove of shrubs that formed an unintentional fence around Colin's abode, and I maneuvered myself as well as my umbrella through and over it, now finding myself in his front yard."Colin!!!" I yelled. The rain kept on coming d

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE

Noah's PovI froze at the question. As my hands let go of Colin and he slipped from my grasp; tumbling to the floor in a loud groan. I stepped back slowly, as thoughts rushed forward in my mind, making me fear the worst. Images and memories flooded back, and I found my breath almost hanging on a thread. I could feel my hands begin to shake as I remembered the battle at the boundary."Flanagan?" I said, out of breath."Ding ding ding..." Colin answered, coughing. "We have a winner..." he groaned, trying to get up."So stay off my back Noah..." he wheezed. "I'm just trying to have a peaceful evening alright..." he gestured, finally straightening up. "You already disturbed my peaceful afternoon, so please give me room this time okay?... I'm too tired to worry about kidnapping..."My eyes glazed in anger again as I faced him. I raised a hand the second time now, and released a punch. But I was shocked as this time, it missed the target. It didn't miss by a wide margin but it missed. And

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY-SIX

Noah's Pov He came out of the room, and down the stairs, with his head now wrapped in gauze and his robes swapped for a black shirt and trousers. He looked like a haloed angel present at a funeral, ready to take the soul of the deceased. I watched him strut down the spiral stairs, but as he took a bend with his back to me; I quickly removed the box from my pocket and slid it inside a drawer. He made it all the way down, then smiled before he came over to me, standing on the other side of the kitchen counter."And I guess you're still here?" he asked."And till I get answers..." I answered tough. "I'm sorry for attacking you, but what you said pissed me off...""Pissed you off enough to make you want to break my jaw?" he frowned. But I shrugged."I'm surprised you didn't die really..." I said. "I hit hard, and you weren't even prepared for that shot...""And I'm a brick wall myself, I'm surprised your hand didn't break to pieces?..." he replied, smirking. It was funny, but I refrained

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY SEVEN

Noah's PovI raised it up and dropped the silver box on the table. It clanked, and I could see Colin's eyes bulge slightly as he saw it. His eyes widened gently, then furrowed; glowering at the box, as they moved from left to right. And I guessed, in reading the latin inscriptions."Others rise and fall, but as Omegas we fall then rise. Remember you'll die, but you'll die a million times..." I said.I smiled as I sensed I could gain an upper hand in the argument if I played this card right; and my first move was to recite the inscription as his eyes rolled over it. I saw his face glance towards me sharply as I talked. Then fell back to the box, before he straightened up from the counter, sighing again."Now what's this then?" he said, raising a brow."Oh, you don't know?" I asked, confident."No, I don't. Where did you find it?""In the ground...""Where?"What does it matter?" I smiled."Oh honestly, are you seriously playing right now?..." he asked. "You bring out a weird box from i

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY EIGHT

Noah's PovI watched him open the box and his face retained a smile as he looked inside. He squinted humoredly, fiddling with the sheets. And I was disturbed as I heard the flow of water when he moved his fingers. He chuckled as he brought out his hand. And I frowned as he slowly raised his wrist into view. Now holding out rolls of damp paper? My eyes widened as I saw water dripping from them and down on the counter, with Colin smirking mockingly. He dropped the sheets in a grimace and wiped his hands; rubbing them together and across his shirt. Making a blurring sound with his tongue, feigning disgust.“Well, so much for a map…” he remarked.I frowned and grabbed the box, spinning it around and looking inside in disbelief. All I saw were more and more sheets of wet paper; damp and breaking into pieces as I held them by my fingers. The entire box was filled with water and all the papers inside had been soaked, leaving everything written on them illegible.I groaned frustrated, with my

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY NINE

Izon's PovI fell to the floor, tumbling back and almost hitting my head on a table. The wrench fell from my grasp and sunk in the muddy floor as my hands did the same. I found myself on the ground, breathing heavily; now staring at the tool frightened. It stood horizontal, facing the ceiling, and another image of Flanagan reflected on it, flashing again. I gasped and paddled backwards frantically. And as more images intermittently flashed, I suddenly stood up and picked up the wrench, tossing it out of one of the locked windows; cracking a hole in it with the force. The rain outside was still pouring down heavily and my heart was still beating as I heaved off the floor in a groan. I wanted to run outside and return to my tent, but now I feared being struck by lightning. There was nowhere else to go, but staying here was going to be uncomfortable; and seeing Flanagan's face in a flash of resemblance disturbed my consciousness. The goddess, I knew, wasn't happy with me, and might strik

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & THIRTY

Flanagan's Pov THE NEXT MORNINGI sat in my chair with its stand creaking and myself leaning back even further, uncomfortable. I could hear the hummingbirds tap on the trees outside, and I could feel my bones ache as I had sat down here all through the night. Myra had fallen asleep after I tipped an artery in her neck. And I had gone to count sheep too, but after brooding for almost an hour.I woke up groggy now; groaning as I got out of the chair. I swiped the bell on my table and stood up to my feet in one movement. Soldiers would be here in a moment's notice; and I made to wake up my daughter. Finally seeing her bundled up in blankets and sleeping; for the first time in over thirty years. It felt strange because I never expected this to happen. I never thought I'd see her again. And I thought she had died with her mother when she refused to run away with me. But the universe and the goddess seemed to have other plans; and I was willing to accept them.I reached her slee

CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & THIRTY ONE

Colin's PovThe sun peeked through the blinds and almost made me blind. As I groaned out of the couch, with heavy eyes and my robe still tied around me. I felt lightheaded and my head hurt seemingly everywhere. I stood up slowly, with my hands at the back of my head, feeling a sore growing there. I could sense it was late morning, and I wondered how long I had slept?Or what made me fall asleep? As the last I remember I had been talking to Noah, standing by the fireplace; not in bed, or on the couch?I turned around and saw my kitchen. And I frowned, moving slowly, past the living room and reaching the counter. I remembered what had happened yesterday, and was surprised as I saw the rubble cleared. There were no broken pieces of plates and glass and wood or red blood?Noah had been true to his word, and had called the cleaners to clear the mess. He had been here last night; in the pouring rain, and now was gone in the morning sun. And it disturbed me. As I was still wondering what had
