Chapter 21

I sat in the well-organized ginormous library. All the books I had ever craved since I was a teenager were on the shelves of this ethereal library. Their spines were enticing, the huge glossy chestnut brown shelves were lined with different books varying according to color and sizes. The new books which had been stacked in a pile a few moments ago were already organized and tucked neatly into shelves. In glee, I dropped the basket of wine on a reading table and moved from shelf to shelf. I gathered a pair of books to keep myself busy while I waited for my guest's return. I didn't worry about what may be going on back at the palace, no one was looking for me, no one cared about me except most at times, Simon. He was all I had in this lonely world. I had lost contact with my family and friends; if I had any. He had cut me off from everyone and everything I loved, including taking a stroll around the city. I was solely dependent on him now. I was clinging to a faint ray of hope. He pro

Chapter 22

"Shut up you mangy beast. " "You shall not speak while I speak, nor shall you question my decision. " "Get me cherries from the Isle of Thorns, I need proof you're worthy of my son's love." She said in surmounting anger. I was hesitant. I knew nothing about the strange Isle; wherever it may be. I fumbled my fingers nervously. She was my mother-in-law, I wouldn't dare defile her orders. "Prove to me that you are worthy and deserving of my son. "Prove to me that you'll make a strong and fearless Luna." "Only then shall I consider you." She said staunchly with her nose turned up in disapproval. Our silence filled the vast bedroom. "We'll be welcoming our special guest today, the primordial." "It's best I keep you busy young lady." "Don't ruin things for us." "Having a thing like you around is enough bore already." She said haughtily. I was downtrodden and emotionally downcast, I had tried all I could to make her accept me but she didn't care. I was losing hope, she was probab

Chapter 23

"There's no sign of her? “ Show me where she is I am getting impatient ". You said you here right to her, write to her". "Are you sure it was correct? I hope she's everything I presumed she'd be". Patience mad dog". I shut him off as I cuffed the wrist of my sleeves. He was good at getting on my nerves. I made my way to the welcome dinner Simon had organized for me. I had declined initially, but I wanted to see her again. I’d be fulfilled with. I turned to the curious mad dog. "If it makes you feel any better, she's an omega wolf. “A!!! ". Mad dog let out a sarcastic laugh. I halted in my stride and turned to him. "Did you just laugh? “No, sorry." He apologized quickly as he struggled to keep a straight face. My cold gaze never left him. I didn't care about who loved Gwen and who she loved. I was done leaving her to half-baked men. Hastening my stride, I made my way to the party. Everyone was waiting. When I walked in, all eyes were fixed on me. I could

Chapter 24

I didn't know what cloud I was, but I loved it. His scent was intoxicating, it took me to a different dimension. I rest my head on his chest peacefully as he walked with me down the crimson sky in the starry night. He had saved me. Derrick had saved my life. The last thing I recalled was getting scooped into his arms like a baby. He had fought off those mean ferocious fae's. They were about to take my life when he came. The fae's attacked him, but he was too quick for them. He dodged their blows and counterattacked, using his teeth and claws to fight them off. They were very easy to defeat for a wolf like him. I was relieved he found me, it made my eyes water. I owed him my life. His strong arms held me close, and I feel safe and secure in his embrace. I could feel the rhythm of his heart beating against my chest, and it's like a lullaby. I closed my eyes and just let myself relax, rest assured he will take care of me. It felt like all the worries of the world had melt

Chapter 25

Last night made me realize how clueless Gwen was. She was blind to a lot of things. I knew I had to act fast, Gwen could not stay in Lycester, she had to leave. She was surrounded by too many fake people. I was running out of time, my people needed me. I knew I had to return to Dycan, but not without Gwen. I gave her up last time, but I was never letting go this time. I had to take things slow if I wished to have her back. I knew she wouldn't accept me right away. But I didn't just want her, I desired her, I yearned for her. I had fantasized about her alot of times. She was clueless of how I really feel about her. I stood by the window watching the beautiful sunrise smile at the courtyard below. Speaking of the devil, she seemed to read my mind. Gwen arrived just then bearing gifts. I could sense they were thank you gifts. She stopped by the garden to smell the flowers. She was going to come in afterwards. I decided to spare her the trouble. I went to the garden to meet her.

Chapter 26

GWEN I’m all alone in my room. The sun is setting outside, and the light is golden and warm. It bathes my room in a soft glow, and the shadows stretch long across the floor. The silence is comforting, like a blanket, and I can almost hear my own breath. The air is still, and I feel as if I am suspended in time. I am not sure how long I have been here, but I do not wish to leave. In this room, at this moment, I am content. Derrick granted my wish, he left me alone. But I couldn't help but feel sad about it, I didn't mean it. I felt empty. My life reverted back to normal. I felt disco-ordinated. Seeing Derrick on the castle grounds was torture. As I walk through the castle grounds, I see him in the distance. We are like ships passing in the night, always just out of reach. The breeze stirs the leaves around us, whispering secrets that I cannot hear. The sunset paints the sky in shades of red and gold, but all I can see is the grey of his retreating figure. I wonder if he f

Chapter 27

As I dream, I find myself walking down a long, foggy road. The fog swirls around my feet, and I can barely see a few feet in front of me. The air is thick and heavy, like it's holding a secret. I hear footsteps in the distance, and my heart starts to race. I try to run, but my feet feel like they're stuck in the mud. And then, through the fog, I see a figure approaching. A familiar face, but one I can't quite place. My heart is pounding, and I can't look away. As they draw closer, I feel a sense of familiarity. As the figure approaches, I could make out a few details. In the fog, I can't see anything beyond a few feet in front of me. Suddenly, a shape emerges from the mist. It's a woman, dressed in a flowing green satin gown. Her hair is long and dark, cascading down her back in waves. She walks toward me, her eyes piercing through the fog. I feel frozen in place, unable to move. I'm not sure if she's real or a figment of my imagination. But as she gets closer, I can't help but feel d

Chapter 28

"Gwen," the queen said, her voice stern. "Why have you not been singing my daughter's praises to Derrick? You know he has a high regard for you, and I expected you to put in a good word for Amelia." I shifted uncomfortably, my gaze fixed on the floor. "Your Majesty, I..." I began, but the queen cut me off. "Spare me your excuses, Gwen. I know you are loyal to my son, but my daughter has been nothing but kind and gracious to you. The least you could do is return the favor." I swallowed hard, the weight of her words sank in, we both knew that was not true. She was quick to rephrase her statement. “Amelia may have been far from kind, but she's changed now.” I cast my gaze to the ground without uttering a word. I knew whatever the queen was doing was pointless. Derrick could see through people, and I could do absolutely nothing for both of them. But for once in my life they were treating me different. I was yet to unravel Amelia's obsession with Derrick. “Quit acting like w

Chapter 29

The grapevine yard was a perfect spot to lose yourself in a good book. The grapevines rustled gently in the breeze, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of grapes. There was a comfortable bench where I could relax and take in the quiet surroundings. The sun was out in all it's splendor. As I opened my book, I feel a sense of calm and contentment wash over me. It was the perfect place to relax and let my mind wander. All that could be heard was the chirping of birds and insect vibrations. The shade beside the tree was my favorite spot, it was chill and sublime. All was still for a while, until my sense of hearing suddenly heightened. I could tell someone was coming. I scanned the place in confusion, but I was all alone. I had sneaked past the guards with much difficulty. This was my secret spot, how were they able to find me? I couldn't help but wonder if I was being tailed. Just then, there was rustling in the bushes behind me. Mad dog sneaked up on me. I tu

Chapter 30

“You can walk around the city today, you have my permission.” Simon said to me in smiles. I was elated I finally had a chance to go out. I was over the moon with excitement, I was no longer confined. At least for some hours. I was free to go for a stroll around Lycester. I anticipated what the mates festival would be like. It was a festival held every leap year to celebrate mates. It was also full moon. It was cute at the early hours of the night, and usually gets nasty by midnight, it was all booze and sex in every corner. We held the same festival often in Dycan. I recalled I had kissed a boy at night back then, and I never saw that boy again. When I eventually did, I could sense the terror in his eyes. He ran away. I found it mysterious and strange, he was all over me a few nights ago. But that was all history now, I finally had a mate, and we were going to spend the festival together tonight. Everyone would likely transform except me. I still couldn't transfor
