“You can walk around the city today, you have my permission.” Simon said to me in smiles. I was elated I finally had a chance to go out. I was over the moon with excitement, I was no longer confined. At least for some hours. I was free to go for a stroll around Lycester. I anticipated what the mates festival would be like. It was a festival held every leap year to celebrate mates. It was also full moon. It was cute at the early hours of the night, and usually gets nasty by midnight, it was all booze and sex in every corner.

We held the same festival often in Dycan. I recalled I had kissed a boy at night back then, and I never saw that boy again. When I eventually did, I could sense the terror in his eyes. He ran away. I found it mysterious and strange, he was all over me a few nights ago. But that was all history now, I finally had a mate, and we were going to spend the festival together tonight. Everyone would likely transform except me. I still couldn't transfor

It's pouring rain outside, and we're drenched to the bone. We were in a dry but we'll lit cave in the woods. We found shelter in the ave, it was inviting. I shiver, teeth chattering. Derrick wraps his arms around me, trying to warm me up. I lean against him, seeking comfort in his embrace. The cave was empty, I was drenched to skin. All the cervices of my body were visible through my thin dress. My body looked glossed under the mysterious lights in the cave. My nipples were pointing out toward him. He looked away quickly and swallowed hard. He had saved me from the rain and brought me to shelter. I was cold. Awkwardly, I wrapped my hands across my chest to keep myself warm. I was shivering. The water on my hair ran down my back. There was an already lit fire in the cave. He held me close and wrapped his arms around me. The rain fell in wild torrents, there was a storm outside. “I'll take you back to the palace, you need to get dry.” He suggested. I shook my head negatively in tears.

DerrickThe strange lady cackled playfully. “Who do we have here?. Two lovers desecrating my cave althrough the night.” She said. “No we were not, we just came to seek shelter.” Gwen replied in smiles and ran to embrace her. I was lost, her eyes were on on me who was less concerned about her presence. “You must be the Dycan alpha.” She said taking gentle strides towards me as she stared at me in wonder. “You're just as arrogant as I presumed you'd be.” “No ma'am, he's not always like that.” Gwen said in my defense. “Wait outside child.” She instructed Gwen. “I have questions about the last time.” Gwen replied defiantly. “And I have no answers. “ “I don't recall what we talked about. Wait out for now.” She dismissed Gwen who was disatisfied. I had no idea what they were talking about, nor did I want to talk to me strange lady. “I'm sorry ma'am but I have no time to entertain you. We have to go.” I finally spoke up and made to lead Gwen by hand out of the cave.

King LancelotA forest of pine trees stood tall and proud, their needles whispering in the wind. In the center of the clearing, a circle of foxes stood, their tails waving gently. In the very center of the circle, a throne sat, carved from the finest wood. On the throne, an ancient fox rested, his eyes closed in repose. The other foxes stood guard, their ears alert for any sign of danger. The scene was peaceful, yet there was a sense of anticipation in the air, as if something momentous was about to happen. “We seek the child, my king. We'll bring him to you as soon as we find him.” My messenger bowed in reverence. I stood up from my throne with much difficulty, and transformed into my original form. A fox with a long fiery tail. My gaze is focused on the horizon, where the sun is setting in a blaze of glory. I am old, and my time on this earth is drawing to a close. But I am a fox, and I know that when one life ends, another begins. I am content with what I have achieved, an

GwenWe were back like we had left. The tension between us on our way home was awkward. Memories from last night flashed in my head. I had to admit, pushing Derrick away was no longer about my fear of cheating on Simon. I had underlying fears I had refused to confront. But I also didn't want to embarrass myself, Derrick had no feelings for me. He'd be gone by tomorrow, and I'll be all on my own. I couldn't confront him about leaving, it'll be a slap on my pride. He was also a player, flirting with two girls last night at the inn proved it. I couldn't believe I was mad about being left behind. His kiss had sparked up flames in my body. I wanted him. I didn't care if I was being used, he was hott!!!. I quickly shook off my dirty thoughts. The thought of him leaving in twenty four hours made my throat dry. It quelled my desire. I wished he could stay with me forever. I wanted him to be mine. But he didn't care, he had no feelings for me. We quietly walked to the entrance of the castle,

GwenThe sun was beginning to fade away, the night drew close. I was helpless. His servants had served me food and water, but I left them untouched. I was too angry to have a bite. I wished I had listened to Derrick. But it was too late for regrets. I had to figure out what to do. Derrick would be leaving soon, and I had only few hours left before night fall. I sat helplessly on the ground and rest my head against the wall in despair. How could Simon do this to me? He was a maniac. He was trying to get an apology out of me like nothing had happened. I was fed up, I was tired of being used. Why am I so stupid? I asked myself. All the brainstorming got me exhausted pretty soon. I had a bigger challenge before me, and I had to confront it first. Leaving this place!. I was lost in my own world of thoughts when I had an unexpected visitor. It was Morgana. My chest tightened for a moment, I despised her very existence. She had a stupid sneer stamped on her face. H

GwenI couldn't describe the surprise I met when I opened my eyes. It had to be a dream, a huge joke. I squirmed uncomfortably and tried to wiggle free from the ropes I was bound with. My eyes met the queen's, her teasing eyes and sadistic smiles were evident. I looked around at where I was in confusion. I was in the throne room. How did I get here? I asked myself. Simon was seated on his throne, fist clenched. He could barely manage to subdue his anger. I was in Lycester and it was almost midnight. Derrick had left. The thought of it made me breakdown in tears. I had never been confused in my life as I was at that moment. I had managed to escape, no doubt. What was I doing back here? My eyes met Morgana's. She had a wicked and triumphant smile plastered on her face. Had she decieved me? How did she do it? How was I captured? Why was I still here? I had too many questions on my mind. The queen walked to where I knelt, tied up like I had done something wrong and was about to be jud

GwenI was probably getting whisked off to Derrick's dungeon in Dycan. I almost went berserk spending a few hours in Simon's dungeon. I thought about the dungeons that awaited me. I tried to distract myself, to focus on anything else, but my thoughts kept drifting back to the dark, foreboding place. I knew it would be cold and damp, that there would be no light or fresh air. I tried to imagine what it would be like to be trapped there, to be separated from the outside world. The thought made me feel sick, and I had to fight back the urge to vomit. I was terrified, but I had to keep my composure, to stay strong. I felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. Everything I thought I knew had been turned upside down, and I was left reeling. My head was spinning, and my heart felt like it had been ripped from my chest. How could I have been so blind, so oblivious? The betrayal was like a knife in my gut, and I didn't know how to process it. I was consumed by a whir

“Mad dog will be waiting for you at the gate, I'll meet you both at the city gates.”“You're not coming?.” I asked in panic.“I'll be right behind you.” “I have to take care of someone.” He replied and ran back in, leaving me alone. I quickly ran to where he told me mad dog will be waiting. But when I got to the gate, mad dog was nowhere to be seen. I began to run, I was scared I'd get captured. Derrick or Simon could not capture me, I had to make sure of that. My hearing sense heightened, someone was on my heels. A wolf was chasing me, she had managed to slip past Derrick. It was Amelia. I ran desperately down the moonlit path into the woods. But I was no match for her, she was faster. I knew she'd get me soon at this pace. Panicking, I ran for my life, my heart pounding in my chest. She was hot on my heels, her breath panting against my neck. I could feel her hot, fetid breath on my skin, and I could hear her claws scrabbling against the ground. I ran as fast a

Three years later…. Two children run around merrily. “You're it!!.” A cute little baby girl says and runs away. A little boy around her age follows in pursuit. I watch my babies with pride from across the field as I sip some tea. The vibrant red yellow and peach flowers beside me add colour and life to the field. It's a peaceful morning in Dycan again. The sun beamed radiantly from the sky. The air was clean and refreshing. I smile as I watch my twins have fun. They were worthy compensation for all I had lost. I wished my dad was alive to see them. They consoled me. Their birth brought nothing but joy to my life. Derrick had gone on a short trip, but it felt like forever. Sitting beneath the sprawling branches of a majestic tree in this tranquil field, I feel a deep sense of calm enveloping me. The tree's leaves create a dappled pattern of sunlight and shade, casting a soothing ambiance around me. I lean against the sturdy trunk, feeling it's comforting presence gro

We were back to Dycan. The palace loomed before us, a symbol of both power and oppression. But today, it would witness a reckoning. As we crossed the threshold, the air crackled with anticipation, our footsteps echoing through the grand halls. I could sense the whispers of the courtiers, their curiosity piqued by our audacity.Together, we strode towards the throne room, our resolve unyielding. As he pushed open the doors, a hush fell over the room, all eyes turning towards us.In that moment, I knew we were not just reclaiming a throne; we were reclaiming a legacy. With unwavering determination, we stepped forward, ready to confront Eugene and seize our destiny. He was frightened when he set his eyes on Derrick, but he managed to conceal it. “Derrick, what a pleasant surprise!.” I never expected you'll be back so soon.” “What are you doing on my throne uncle?.” Derrick questioned him sternly. “Oh this? I was keeping it safe and warm for you.” “I won't be needing you

“You don't have to worry about me, you can see her whenever you wish.” “It must be really tough leaving someone you love to marry a stranger.” I turned to see the owner of the voice. Sylvia smiled at me. I was flustered. She had caught me looking at Gwen hugging a stranger in the garden. “Are you jealous? She chuckled. “It can't be helped.” I replied in guilt I know you didn't mean to, you can't help it cause you love her.” “Have you ever been in love before? Is this what it feels like?.” I was forced to ask. I had never been an emotional person. I didn't even know how to express my emotions until Gwen came along. Sylvia took a deep breath and leaned on the window above the garden. One could see the garden clearly from there. “Yes I have: but clearly, I had to fulfil my obligations as a royal blood.” “Father didn't want me to marry him, he had no powers and he was a commoner. And on the other hand, you're the strongest creature among the twelve kingdoms.”

“You can stay as long as you like, courtesy of my husband to be and I.” Sylvia, the fox king's daughter, offered in smiles. I sensed she said it in a bid to spite me. Sylvia was a smallish Fox, her golden locs cascading like sunlight over her shoulders. With grace and power intertwined, she commanded the attention of all who beheld her. Her regal presence, though diminutive in stature, emanated an aura of authority that left no doubt of her sovereignty . Her gaze met mine, piercing yet gentle. “Thanks for your generosity but I'll be leaving in four days.” “There’s nothing left for me here.” I replied icily. I could barely mask the anger and jealousy in my voice. It was all thanks to her father Derrick was alive; But at the same time I couldn't stand the thought of Derrick being with someone else. A servant ran in just then.“My princess, we captured an intruder in our woods. “He says he means no harm. He's here to ensure Gwen gets home safely.” I was puzzled. Wh

DerrickI watched her cry in disbelief as she came closer and ran her fingers on my chest, my neck, all over me: to ascertain if I was really the one. “Derrick.” She called again. She hugged me tight like I was about to disappear. I pulled her close and hugged her as I watched her cry eyes out. “I'm not dreaming.” She cried. I pressed her head close to my chest in relief. I was happy to see her again, she was back in my arms. I missed her, she was always on my mind. But things had changed, and were about to take a different dimension for the both of us. I had a debt to repay the late fox king. He had spared my life and nursed me back to health. I could still remember his last words on the day he died. I stood by the bedside of the dying king, I couldn't help but feel a wave of sorrow wash over me. His once vibrant eyes, filled with the wisdom of ages, now glistened with the sheen of approaching death. Each shallow breath he took seemed to echo through t

What I had found out didn't deter me from finding Derrick. I was mad at him but I was also hoping he would be alive. I felt stupid but I couldn't help it. There was something about our bond that was suggesting he would be alive. I kept walking, hoping I get to the fox den within the next three weeks. I was a shadow of myself. My steps were sluggish. I was weary and disappointed in myself and everyone around me. I had never really experienced lasting joy. I had been foolish enough to trust everyone all I got in return were a few knives in my back. They had stabbed and bruised me badly. Love was staying vulnerable, even when you knew you could get hurt. I guess I really loved with all my heart but each time I keep getting knocked down and disappointed by life. I hoped healing would come someday. I'll be able to let go of all the hurt and pain in my heart. I just wanted to fall in Derrick's arms and cry my eyes out. At that moment I hated him too. He had concealed the truth from me. Why

As I arrived at Aunt Maya's house, excitement bubbled within me, eager to catch up with her. However, when the servants informed me that she wasn't home, a sense of disappointment crept in. Determined not to waste the visit, I decided to make myself comfortable in her bedroom while I waited for her return.Entering Aunt Maya's bedroom felt like stepping into a sanctuary of tranquility. The soft scent of lavender filled the air, and sunlight streamed through the lace curtains, casting delicate patterns on the floor. I settled onto the plush armchair by the window, the soft cushions enveloping me as I gazed out at the peaceful garden below. But as the minutes ticked by, impatience gnawed at me. I couldn't simply sit idly by while Aunt Maya was away. My eyes wandered around the room, searching for something to occupy my time. That's when I noticed it—the tapestry hanging on the far wall, its intricate design drawing me in like a magnet. Curiosity piqued, I crossed the room and ran my fin

As the darkness fades, I feel a gentle warmth spreading across the horizon, painting the sky with delicate hues of pink and gold. The world slowly awakens around me, as if emerging from a peaceful slumber. Each ray of light dances gracefully, casting long shadows and breathing life into every corner it touches. In this serene moment, I am filled with a sense of renewal and hope, as if anything is possible in the gentle embrace of the dawn. It gave way to the glorious sunrays which cast it's warm glow in the cave. I stood up to get a better view of the sunrise. As the warm breeze rustles through the cave entrance, I can't help but drift back to those carefree days of my childhood. I remember the laughter echoing across the meadows, mingling with the sweet scent of wildflowers. Dad's hand, rough yet gentle, clasped firmly in mine as we explored every hidden corner of our sanctuary. The tall grass swaying in rhythm with our footsteps, a symphony of nature's melody enveloping us in it
