61. Out of the world

Marcus POV   Once I left her nipple, I slowly ran my tongue down her torso all the way till her navel. Encircling it, I left kisses along the side of her waist. Her abdomen retracted upon contact, prompting an amused smile on my face. I loved the effect I was having on her, knowing full well that no other man could ever come close to sharing this intimacy with her. Oftentimes, I found myself feeling blessed to have caught her attention, and for her to let me pleasure her like this. I loved doing things for her, and to her, and I loved that she would let me, and only me.    I felt her stiffen under my touch as my kisses wandered lower. When I reached the hem of her underwear, I felt her shudder, pulling my head back by my hair. Staring up at her, I found her watching me with widened eyes.

62. Slowly but surely

Marcus’ POV    When I walked back inside with the reheated lasagna, I was glad to find that Kiara remained true to her words. Now clothed in her black dress, she sat against the bedrest, scrolling through something on her phone. She must have grabbed it from the living room when I was busy in the kitchen.    “Why are you dressed again?” I asked, climbing into the bed to join her.    “I’m not looking forward to round two-” She said, pulling the duvet to her tuck under her chin. “-of pure torture.”    I grinned as I took a seat beside her. As I handed her over the plate, I adjusted my arms around her shoulder so I could bring her closer to myself.    “By t

63. Far overdue

Marcus’ POV   “I’m glad you have decided to pay us a visit, Alpha Marcus.” Edna Smith, the Luna, spoke as tea was being served.    I returned her polite smile with a nod. “I intend to discuss something with your husband, but your presence is appreciated too.” I said, “After all, the matter is pertaining to the pack.”    Her smile quivered at my statement, but she was quick to hide it. My cryptic statement must have puzzled her, although she wouldn’t be in the dark for long.    After work, I showed up at the Smith’s house unannounced, foolishly assuming Alpha Darren would be home. Only his wife was at home, who was quite surprised to find me at their doorstep. After leading me into their backyard, she gave me company while

64. Redemption

Asher’s POV “I cannot believe this girl.” My mother spoke, annoyed. “Always desperate for attention.”  I frowned at her in disbelief, “Or desperate for help.”  When Alpha Marcus had earlier narrated what he had witnessed, I could barely control my anger. My blood was boiling. Beta Benson, as Alpha Marcus had claimed, was about to strike her with a belt as a punishment. If Alpha Marcus hadn’t arrived in time to rescue Kiara, I could only imagine what would have happened. She would’ve been grievously hurt.  What made matters worse was the fact that this was a frequent occurrence in their household. Upon the realization, I could only imagine what Kiara must have gone throu

65. Accept your sympathy

Kiara’s POV  I was just winding up my work at the restaurant when the clock struck 9. My shift officially ended. As it was a friday evening, the restaurant was filled with a throng of people. My shift had been hectic, barely giving me any time to breathe in between. When I walked out of the restaurant in my normal clothes, exhaustion hit me at once. I yearned for nothing more than the comfort of my bed and a good night’s sleep that followed. However, I was not going to get home for another thirty minutes. Sighing, I opened my phone to check for any notifications. My last text was from Marcus, telling me that he was running late but he would be here in another fifteen minutes. Ever since the attack, Marcus had insisted on accompanying me back home whenever my shifts ran late. I usually work the evening shift so that I could be back at home before

66. You're being dramatic

I earned a surprised look from Marcus when I slammed the car door. With force, I yanked the seatbelt across the body before tucking it into the socket. My persistent glare was now directed at Marcus, who had a worried expression on his face.  “What?” I asked.  “Is everything alright?”  “Yeah, why wouldn’t it be?”  “Just checking.”  I knew that Marcus wasn’t convinced, but he decided to remain silent. Pulling the gear rod forward, he eased the vehicle from the parking mode and started accelerating forward. I felt Marcus’ eyes on me every now then, but I was absorbed by

67. Tensions in the territory

Marcus’ POV “We found him.” I heard Ethan speak. Holding my phone between my tilted head and shoulder, as I twisted the key. Ethan’s words took me by surprise, prompting me to clutch my phone against my ear, ensuring I heard him right. Locking the door behind me, I walked into my living room. “What?” “Yes.” He confirmed, “And we were right, Marcus. He is not a werewolf.” Upon further investigation in Parough, we unearthed multiple missing cases and suspicious deaths. What was even more peculiar was their injuries, they were not typical werewolf bite marks. It ruled out the possibility of an internal conflict, so we only had to assume that it was the Lycan&rsq

68. A long time

“Earth to Kiara!” Anna’s loud voice snapped into reality at once. I had been submerged into the textbook in front of me, shielded from the real world by the blasting music from my headphones when she suddenly screamed in front of my face. Flinching, I looked up at her at once.  “Christ.” I huffed out loud, peeling my headphones away from my ears. “What’s the matter?” “Did you see this?” She said, flashing a piece of blue paper envelope in front of my eyes.  Reclining backwards, I tried to read the words, “What is it?”  Upon the blue cover lay my name in golden ink. Opening the cover, I was surprised to find an invitation card. I d

69. For tonight

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the noise in my room drifted away with the evening rays. Clutter lay scattered on the floor, bed and desks. For the first time since moving into my dorm, we completely transformed our room into a typical high school girls. Eyeing myself in the mirror, I smoothed down the fabric clung to my torso. Anna advised me to not overindulge in my lunch to better fit into the dress, and I was finally realizing what she meant. The black gown that Anna let me borrow seemed as though it was tailor-made for me. It hugged my curves and held onto my skin in all the right places. The boat neck revealed my clavicles, but had managed to conceal the bruises above my chest. From the neck line all the way to the hem of the long sleeves, shimmering silver dotted the cloth. The skirt of the gown reached my toe tips, however, a slit on the left revealed my skin more than I appreciated.&nbs

70. What you need

I watched from afar as people surrounded Marcus. After my initial encounter with him, Marcus was busy speaking to the never ending list of people that wanted to meet him. I could only smile at him occasionally to remind him that I was still here and he would send an apologetic look my way.  “Wow, what is he doing?” Anna spoke from beside me.  I peeled my eyes off Marcus to look at her instead, “What?”  “Asher.” She said, nodding to my right.  Following her, I looked toward Asher and instantly widened my eyes. Asher was furiously speaking to one of the men who was behind the bar counter. He was reluctant to give him another drink while Asher was threatening to f
