CHARLENE'S POVI thought back to all of the times Xavier had told me about nightmares and how helpful it had been to know how to wake him up in case I ever woke up screaming in the middle of the night. I was beginning to wonder if he'd lied to me about all of that. The realization scared me. I never imagined that the only thing I'd ever need from Xavier was a reason to stay alive, because I thought that it would probably kill me to get rid of him. And yet... I felt relieved. I didn't think about him anymore, I didn't imagine how my life would be without him, and even the fact that he might eventually leave me hurt less than it should've. Now all I could feel was… relief?
