Walking to work the next morning, Sophia made sure she left early so that she would arrive on time. The sky was still dark when she left home. Chef Bob wanted the place sparkling clean at all times. Sophia could see a few joggers and stretchers lining the walkway, so she felt a bit safer. However, the neighbourhood was not entirely safe, and she had to be careful at all times. Uncle Maska's actions were unimaginable to Alan. The illegal activities within the Zang Pack were beyond what he had expected. The pack building was intended to unite werewolves and act as a voice to ensure their presence was recognized in society, but Alan was appalled by the level of decay and corruption that had taken over the Zang Pack and Zang City. The building had been constructed to prevent humans from opposing the pack. 

There was never a scarier meeting than this collaboration. Alan despised being around his mate. She was a cheating, lying, and pretentious woman who always put him on edge. She had been appointed as his mate before his parents died, thankfully, it had not been publicized. Only few people new, but Alan was sure rumours of it was wafting among the werewolves. His parents had said she would help him stay out of trouble and prevent him from spreading his seed around and having illegitimate children. The Zang Pack genealogy was considered sacred.

"Are you not changing too much?" Uncle Jocka criticized as Alan passed him the list of reforms he wanted to make. He quickly skimmed through the document, his frown deepening with each sentence.Alan slowly raised his head from his laptop. The atmosphere in the large office suddenly became stifling. Alan did not like his authority being questioned.

As she lay on the sofa, Sophia fixed her gaze on the wall clock and watched as time ticked by. Before she knew it, darkness had covered the sky.
