CHAPTER FOUR - BOUGHT AT A HIGH PRICE

Uncle Maska's actions were unimaginable to Alan. The illegal activities within the Zang Pack were beyond what he had expected. The pack building was intended to unite werewolves and act as a voice to ensure their presence was recognized in society, but Alan was appalled by the level of decay and corruption that had taken over the Zang Pack and Zang City. The building had been constructed to prevent humans from opposing the pack.

Alan had learned about an underground business where politicians and businessmen from all over the city came to exploit virgins within the pack for sexual favors. Uncle Maska had paid off the police to ignore the business as it flourished. But he had fallen ill, which prompted him to call Alan home to reclaim his rightful position as the Alpha of the Zang Pack. Alan's parents had died in a plane crash when he was fourteen, and his uncle took over the pack's leadership while Alan studied abroad.

However, Alan was hesitant to relinquish control back to his uncle after seeing the level of corruption within the pack. Although it would be challenging since his uncle had trained loyal men who answered to him, Alan knew that his friends, Julian and Eddie, would serve him with their lives. They had all attended school together, but Julian and Eddie remained abroad. Alan planned to convince them to return home to help him.

Uncle Maska had neglected the pack's legitimate transport and fruit plantation business and had turned to the flesh trade and possibly drug trafficking, though it would be more hidden.

By evening, Alan's mind was racing. He ordered a chilled drink in order for him to cool down, and Paulo, a werewolf who had stuck with Alan since he arrived, came to deliver it. Paulo was an average-height werewolf with terrible dress sense that made him appear more dangerous than he was. After Alan finished his drink, he waved off his secretary and focused on Paulo.

"So, what's the news, Paulo?" Alan asked. He had tons of work to do, starting with the cleanup of the biker thugs who drank to stupor in the name of being tough werewolves. He itched to drive it into their brains, but that was not why they were shapeshifters.

Paulo was smiling broadly. "You will like this, Alpha."

"I better do, otherwise you will find yourself regretting coming into my office to disturb me on such a busy day as this. It's late already, and I am so hungry," Alan explained, fixing him with a look.

"Remember the last time we were at that restaurant..." Alan could never forget. "The one I was unfortunate to ask you to take me to..." He prompted.

Paulo must have leaked his identity as the waiter that served them was so clumsy, his anger rose by his every second he had managed to stay seated. Although their food matched his taste buds, the experience had been frustrating.

"Yes, that one," Paulo said, still all smiles.

"What about it?" Alan asked, getting bored. He didn't have the time to chitchat with a werewolf who lived off charity. He believed in honest hard work. A flash of a beautiful smile and gorgeous skin crossed his face. He snapped out of it when he saw that Paulo was looking at him expectantly, like he expected a reply of some sort.

"What about the restaurant?"

"She is here," Paulo said with an air of mischievousness.

"Who?" Definitely not. The tempting waitress had stared him down like he owned her world. No way. She looked so innocent, she would never step into a place like the Zang Pack. She was all virgin, he was sure of that. He could smell her excitement as she stared at him that day. Her eyes had been so fixated, and there was something familiar about her too, although he could not recall where he had seen her. But he was sure he had seen her somewhere.

"That girl, the one with the curves that shake your world."

"Oh, shut up, she does not," Alan denied unsuccessfully.

"You deny it all you want, but she is here. She is at the underground auction," Paulo said quickly, launching into her story. "My friend brought her; she needs urgent money to pay off some debt. Poor girl. But she is looking so hot. I thought you might be interested."

"Get out of my office," Alan shouted at him, his hands tight in a fist. Paulo didn't need a second prompting. He scrammed out of the room.

It was either he stuck to his plan of closing down the underground business thing and ignoring being the prince charming to the girl he liked. He had felt an instant liking for her ever since he had seen her. She was innocent and untouched and hadn't allowed the darkness of the world around her to seep into her skin.

Knowing that she was a virgin further raised her prestige in his eyes, and she had curves in all the right places. He loved women with thick curves that he could hold onto and plunge into with abandon.

He had stopped trying to woo her because she was innocent. He could see it in her eyes, the fear they held at being close to him, the smell of her skin, and the way she responded to him.

Closing his eyes in pure rage, Alan stood up and left the office. The thought of another man kissing the skin he had admired was enough to make him explode.

Paulo was waiting for him outside the door, smiling sheepishly when he saw him.

"I knew you were going to come around. She is too sweet to pass up," Paulo said.

Alan ignored him and bade him to lead the way. Most wolves they encountered left his way as Alan was feared. They all knew he didn’t encourage their activities as his uncle did. They were all wary of him, and he of them.

The auction venue underground was filled to the brim. Alan did a quick sweep of the men. From their attire and the large amount of money in front of each man, he could tell these were men of substance.

Naked women were dancing on poles around the large room. The men looked hungrily at the spectacle on stage.

The room went silent as he entered; he was duly recognized. The manager of the underground ring was his uncle’s best friend. They were the same age and had both taken over the pack when his parents died in his stead. Uncle Jocka.

He came down with his guards in tow, the guests parted ways as Uncle Jocka walked up to him.

"Finally, you are present in our ring. I wonder what brought you in here, Alan," Uncle Jocka said, and they all laughed as Alan looked sheepish.

He almost regretted coming in, but he had never felt strongly about a girl before. He needed to confirm this one, but his plans were to himself.

"He must have seen a pretty flower in our garden," Uncle Jocka laughed, his voice the loudest. Alan laughed along gently. It was only a matter of seconds before Uncle Maska knew he had shown up at the ring.

"Alright, let’s leave him. He should be allowed to choose confidently among the women here," Uncle Jocka said, and the laughter rose again. Uncle Jocka gave him a knowing look and left him alone.

The auction started in earnest. He looked around at them all, all sleazy old men. Alan was determined to ensure the underground ring closed down.

Uncle Jocka knew that his return was not good; the cold war was on. But he had a more pressing issue: no girl should sell herself. Even though he couldn't save them all, he could still save this one.

Alan waited patiently for her turn as the bidding began. She was a hot cake with the clothes she wore and her figure. The men in there were ravenous. He raised the bid above them all and took her out of there as fast as possible. Whispering 'Mine' in her ear. He knew the werewolves around him could hear him. Him saying that was enough to make them stay clear from her even after that night. He helped her away from the ring and into his car.

He sat her down gently in the car and drove off, not even sparing her a look. He drove straight to the Zang Pack house, helped her out of the car, and removed her blindfold. He parked the car in front of his own building. That was when her face really hit him. She was so beautiful.

Alan raised her face up with his own. Her eyes were stormy and lined with tears, fat big globes that were ready to drop. "Do you want to do this?" he asked gently.

She nodded quickly, tears falling. "I'm sorry. I really need the money. I'll do it, please."

"But you don't like what you're going to do to get it?" Alan pressed further. He didn't remember ever being so chivalrous when it came to having sex with a girl, especially one who fascinated him so much. But there was just something about her that drew him in. She was nothing but a scared rabbit that the wolf in him would love to have for dinner.

"I do," she said slowly, trying to look away from him. She wouldn't even make eye contact.

Alan sighed, resting his back against the car door. "If you say so, come on, let's go in. I need to work your body for its money's worth." Alan smiled, placing his hands on her back. She shivered, placing one foot ahead of the other.

Things were bound to get interesting this night.

The Luna Moon Festival celebration took place at night when the moon was out; it was a special night dedicated to the Luna of the pack. This was to recognize her authority and ensure the continual submission to her authority by the pack. The pack wolves were surprised that Alan allowed the festival to take place. Many suspected it was due to the recent murder charge against him, and they were not quiet with their observations, though they were sensible enough not to confront him with it.Alan solved the murder by obtaining the CCTV footage, or whatever was left of it. that Sloana wasnt smart enough to tamper with.
