Chapter 21

The elders were seated in the study room as the clock struck noon. Eli ran his fingers in his silver streaked hair as he waited impatiently with the rest for the alpha. He didn't want to be here because he had a guess what the meeting was all about, but, he knew better than to disobey Grey. Grey strode into the study room, and walked over to his seat behind his desk. The five elders were seated separately. Two in front of Grey, and the rest on the grey sofa, rested against one side of the wall. They stood up to greet him in respect "Greetings, elders. I had a few things to take care of," he said, explaining his lateness without really tendering an apology. "Do sit," he added. They were quite surprised as they sat down, because Grey never explains himself. Eli mentally shook his head. He had a eerie feeling it had to be with Maya. That castrated omega, he said to himself. "To the reason why we're gathered here," Grey began, as he sat down, placing both hands on the table. "Last tim

Chapter 22

"Why do you look like you've got something stuck on your tongue?" Grey asked with an unreadable expression on his face."Can you read my mind?" She inquired out of perplexity and curiousness. He raised a brow. "And why would I be able to?" He asked her, peering into her eyes, and daring her to say the word.Instead, she shook her head. "It's nothing," she said looking away. If he could read my mind, it could only mean I was his mate also, but that was quite impossible. I can't feel his vulnerability or his mate bond, she said to herself. That's because, I've put a wall around me, Maya. That's why you can't tell we're mates, he said in his head as he looked at her. "Come on," he said, prodding her into the stables. They stood before a wide range of horses, and Maya stared at them all. She and Gwen had only been outside talking about the horses without seeing them. "Which of the horses do you fancy?" He asked her.Maya walked in front of the stalls each horses were in. "Which of them is

Chapter 23

Maya stared at the slender, pouting lips before her with an incomprehensible look on her face. "I just asked a question. Who the fuck are you?" She demanded in a pissed off tone.Maya shrugged. "Maya... Maya Caesar," Maya said simply."I don't give two fucks what your name is. What are you doing in here?" She asked, eying Maya from the crown of her head to the sole of her feet. "And wearing Grey's clothes," she inquired, with pure rage in her eyes.Maya was beginning to think the woman before her was closed to Grey, and that was why she could call him by his name without regard or fear. Maya got exasperated by her presence and her demanding questions. "I think you should ask the alpha himself. He's in a better position to tell you," she said to her.She moved closer to Maya. "You better give me an explanation on why a mere rat like you is in Grey's room," she said through gritted teeth.Maya stared hard at her. "Could you please leave? I need some peace," she said, her brows narrowin

"That was weird. I wasn't expecting that," Grey said, as he walked over to the closet."What were you expecting?" She asked, watching him take off his peacoat."Questions," he replied modestly."Questions like?" She inquired, a bit curiously."Who is Vivian?" He said with a shrug as he hung the coat. "Is it important?" Maya asked, and he could feel her eyes on him.He turned to her. "You'll be seeing her everyday," he answered."Why?" Maya inquired."Because she's a part of the pack, and she's always here especially during breakfast and dinner," he said, as he began to take off his sweatshirt, and Maya looked away, staring at her fingers."Why haven't I been seeing her?" She asked, bit by bit, getting to know who Vivian was, despite the fact that she had played uninterested."She went to see the world. What she calls an adventure. She's been touring for two months now," he said, as he carelessly threw the shirt into the laundry basket, and approached her."Hmm," she said with a scoff

Chapter 25

The sun rays filtered through the little space along the tightly closed curtains, and rested on Maya's face. Maya fluttered her eyes as she stifled a yawn, forcing her eyes opened. She laid on the bed motionless for a little while. Her mind drifting back to the dream she had last night."Stone her to death!" The crowd was yelling."She deserves to die!" The crowd ranted more angrier than before. There she sat on the ground, tears rolling down her cheeks as she felt suddenly powerless."Shamelessly frolicking with the emperor when she's not part of us!" One lady from the crowd said, her voice at the top of her lungs."What are we waiting for? Let's stone her to death!" They yelled, and picked up stones, angling them at her. They lifted their stones high, and casted them towards her. She closed her eyes bracing up for the pain that would associate with the impact of the stones, but none was forthcoming. She opened her eyes, when she heard t

A few minutes later, Maya got out of the bathroom, and noticed that Grey was no longer on the bed, and neither was he in the room. "Where has he gone now?" She muttered as she held tightly to the towel wrapped around her body.Shrugging off the thoughts of Grey, she went over to the closet to quickly get dressed. A knock came on the door, and she guessed it to be Gwen or some other omega, because, Grey never knocks when coming into the room. "It's open," she said as she reached for a cashmere turtleneck dress. Cora walked into the room, holding a mop and a bucket, along with Gwen, who was holding a dustpan and a long handle brush."Good morning, Luna," Gwen greeted with a smile while Cora scoffed as she went over to the windows to undrape the curtains."Morning, Gwen," Maya replied to Gwen as she ignored Cora. "How was your night?" She asked, returning her smile. From her rampant thinking, Gwen only got her dressed whenever she was to meet the elders.

Maya recovered from the surprise, quicker than Vivian had expected. She picked up the glass of juice in front of her. "Good for you," she said, as she sipped from the juice, ignoring Vivian.Vivian glared at her, pissed off by the fact that the shock she was expecting to register deeply in Maya did nothing to faze her. "Listen here," Vivian began, unable to hide her detest any longer. Maya placed the glass of juice back on the table, as she stared at her. "You're too little for me to be competing with over Grey," she said to her, and Maya kept staring at her aloofly. "You're nothing but a piece of crap trying to reach for the top. Trying so hard to fit where you don't belong," Vivian said with a nasty smile on her face, hoping to get into Maya.Maya smiled. "Tell me something I haven't heard," she replied as she forked more sauced meat into her mouth.Vivian dropped her fork, and folded her hands, propping her elbows on the table, anger seething inside of

Grey had gotten back to the pack house and had discovered that she was not in the house. He had made inquiries, and Gwen had told him where she was. He had immediately came to the river to find her seated with her legs pulled up, and she hugging her knees. He wondered what was going on with her, as she turned to look at him with an hurtful look on her face. "Are you okay?" He asked her.Maya chuckled dryly as she sniffed. "Is there a need not to be?" She asked him, sarcasm evident in her voice.Grey knitted his brows in exasperation. "I asked a question," he said, his eyes intensely on hers. "Gwen tells me you've been here since morning. I only want to know what's going on," he said to her."It's nothing," she said, slowly getting up to her feet.Grey grew more irritated. "What the hell  is wrong with you?" He demanded in a pent-up anger.Maya grew furious, the anger, hurt, and pain from this morning rolling back in. "What is wrong with m

"My Lord, one of the goddesses of heaven is at the spring attacking our men," a warrior rushed in, panting heavily as he spoke."Impossible," a man said, getting up immediately from the mahogany chair with gold and blue embroidery he was sitting."My Lord, she's slaughtering our people without mercy," the warrior said, one of his knees bent, and the other on the floor, with his head bowed."Take me there immediately," Verne said, and the warrior stood up, and together, they hastened to the waterfall.Racing their horses to the waterfall, he immediately alighted from his horse, and noticed immediately that his warrior did not lie to him. Some of his warrior clan were laying dead on the ground while some laid wounded, groaning in agony. He drew out his sword when he sighted the woman causing such havoc in his land. Using his telekinesis, he flung her away from one of his clan, and fell, her back hitting the sturdy side of the tree

Chapter 30

"Father, how could you let him go ahead with this?" Vivian asked her father, Eli, with a disappointed look on her face.Eli sighed as he tapped his fingers on the couch. "He's the alpha, Vivi. He has the final say," he said, looking deep in thought."But, you all forced him to get married since he was almost twenty four with no sign of a mate. You can talk him out of this too," Vivian said persistently.Eli stared at her. "I can't do anything," he said in annoyance."Yes, you can!" Vivian said, raising her voice in frustration. "You forced him, now force him out," she said, feeling devastated."You know I conceded with the elders to make Grey listen to us and pick a wife for sake. I had expected that he would pick you since you both seemed to be quite close, but unfortunately, it did not fall in my favour or yours. I wasn't expecting him to find a bride at the Oasis, and definitely not this omega girl," he said, sounding disgusted when he
