'Whoosh...pfff...puff...whizzz'I could feel the gust of wind whispering to my ears as it blew hard on my face. It was an airy evening around 5pm and I was strolling back home with both my hands dipped into the pocket of the jean trouser I was wearing; trying to console myself from feeling sad. I had just lost a job interview for a salesperson role in a pharmacy that was only few blocks away from where i lived; one of the vacancies I've been vying for about a week now, so that I could atleast support my mom offset some bills at home. Living with my mom has always been trying -- a bitter sweet experience for the both of us, especially when she got divorced to my dad. I was only 13 years of age when that happened - a memory I could never truly erase as it broke me down each time I thought about it, filling me with unquenchable resentment towards my dad! I mean, I have always admired my parents love life throughout the early years of my childhood but when they got separated, I began to

my mom's voice filtered into my room as the door swung open."Liam, I thought you told me Shelly was staying over for dinner, so why did I see her leaving?" She asked, holding the door knob with her left hand while glancing suspiciously on my waistline as I buckled my belt before raising my head to give her a searching stare. I couldn't tell exactly what was running through my mom's mind, but I was sure she knew somehow that I and Shelly had sex during her absence. "Well she changed her mind mom" I answered bluntly and moved towards the sofa to pick up the t-shirt I removed earlier."And why?" My mom asked, giving me an inquisitive look while I hurriedly wore my shirt. "I dunno mom" I answered immediately with a shrug and turned to face my mom who was wearing a frown; even she could tell that I was trying to hide something from her. "She didn't just want to stay and it's fine -- I don't care!" I exclaimed with my voice slightly raised before walking past my mom as I came out of my

"That will be my dad" Chloe chuckled softly and was about turning to go call her dad when she heard his fast paced footsteps gradually approaching behind towards our direction. "Oh! here he comes" Chloe said to me in a low voice and shifted, giving her dad more room as he came and stood in front of me - dressed in a finely fitted black suit and holding a briefcase. Then he switched the briefcase to his left hand and extended his right hand to me for a handshake, saying "Liam, so glad you could make it before I leave for work." "Yes... And I must say, you look good sir" I replied with a courteous tease - glancing briefly at Chloe who stood beside us with a friendly smile on her face."Well thank you" Mr Williams said as we retreated our hands - adjusting his tie while giving me a purposeful look. "So as for the job, I'll like you to..." I gradually lost attention to what Mr Williams was saying when my gaze drifted to look at Chloe who left us and moved into the house with her curv

.. biting the wall of my stomach. I arrived at home few minutes later and went straight to meet my mom who was at the dinning room - dusting the table with a dry clothe when she suddenly raised her gaze and noticed me approaching."Honey, you look so exhausted" My mom said as she stood erect to face me the moment I came closer, standing at the opposite end of the dinning table."Good afternoon mom" I heaved in a low breathless voice - pulling an empty chair back before collapsing on it to sit."You must be hungry, let me go get your lunch" My mom said with a soft smile - placing her left hand under my chin before moving past me for the kitchen to get a plate of whatever she must have prepared. "Here you go" her voice sounded the moment she returned into the dining room, leveling a plate of food with a glass of water on the table in front of me before sitting down on an empty chair closer to mine. My tummy rumbled hungrily when the aroma of the beans filled my nose as I inhaled - l

'Hi... Can we meet?' Was the message she sent to me.So I shook my head and gave out a sarcastic scoff while placing my phone back Into my pocket before walking towards the main road ahead to get a cab. I ARRIVED home few minutes later and noticed my mom dressed, busying around the palour like she was preparing to go out. "Mom... You look -- what should I say, stunning" I chuckled in a teasing voice as I entered the house, shutting the palour door gently behind me while my gaze remained fixed at my mom who stood erect with a wide grin on her face. She was literally glowing - almost as though she was excited about something. "Are you going ou... Wait! -- Is it what I think it is?" I gasped sharply with an amused look as I moved forward and stood in front of my mom who was dressed in a black gown which hung nicely over her shoulders - revealing her mature and elegant features. My mom wasn't all that advanced in age; infact, she was only 45 years and still looking very attractive en
