Petal's POV As I focused on my plate, trying to ignore his piercing gaze, I continued to eat, deliberately avoiding any eye contact. The atmosphere around the dining table was warm, my family engaged in pleasant conversation, but I felt anything but comfortable. The air around me felt heavy, suffocating, as if I was trapped in an invisible cage. Then, suddenly, I felt it—a firm hand resting on my thigh. My entire body tensed. My fingers froze around the fork, and before I could react, his hand moved, fingers tracing slow, deliberate circles against the fabric of my dress. A jolt of shock shot through me, my stomach tightening in unease. I choked on my food, coughing violently as my throat burned from the unexpected obstruction. My mother, ever so caring, reached out in concern. “Petal, are you okay? Have some water,” she said, her voice filled with worry.
